  • OWN has unveiled a new TV show on us called The Never Ever Mets. It's basically a cross between online dating and The Real World in a highly compressed time frame. You will quickly see why my videos have the title for the show they do and will also probably quickly wonder how this show number 1) got made, and number 2) how it got on OWN. This is so far outside the house style of OWN that it doesn't make any sense at all for the channel. We'll see how this goes, but I'm not optimistic any of these couples have what it takes to make it into real life together.

    Watching these shows tells you what little we have available on TV to entertain us. This is the only one I watch and I doubt if I will be watching RHOA. I enjoy your recaps and your opinions. Very good viewpoints.

      @desreenjackson7638 I'm good and it's good to see you. How are you?
      The first episode of this was rough, like I can't see anyone getting together and a lot of it was a trainwreck lol. The 'strongest' couple is obviously Shay and Josh, but that 3 year old has gotta be explained. His refusal to move probably is a tough obstacle to overcome.
      Going down the list:
      Brandan/Sienna: She's attracted to the idea of Brandan but isn't attracted to him. It's kind of like how Khalfani felt about Denice in season 3 of Ready to Love. She was everything he wanted in a package, he just didn't want 'her'.
      Josh/Shay: 12 years, if we're to believe their ages, means Shay was 18 when they met and he was 20. She stayed chaste for him and he had a baby 9 years into whatever they had going on. The 12 year thing is a huge red flag for not meeting if they had any kind of attraction to each other (they also don't live that far from each other), so something's off but I can't quite figure out what yet.
      Gregg/Millie: This couple is complete b.s. and Gregg is probably just doing this show for TV time. He apparently has already been on a different reality TV dating show already...two years ago. Knowing her for 3 years and not meeting because she lives over the hill is bonkers. I used to do a worse commute in L.A. than that every day for 8 months (lots of people did refuse to go over the hill for work, so it's not an uncommon thought there believe it or not). That's just an excuse and apparently neither was willing to budge. They come across as 'normal' when together but I don't think they're legit and his way of treating her regarding compliments will go over really poorly over time.
      Chris/Sandia: Chris just wants to get in Sandia's pants and something in those texts has intrigued Sandia. He should never have been on this show and it's really weird how she's okay with trying something like this with him. She gave him super shade on his height, which was funny, as he's probably not used to being knocked down to size by a woman...especially one he wants badly. That won't end well, but how it will end I have no idea.
      Dominique/Alexis: Two people with insecurity and jealousy issues decide to give it a go. He's not attracted to her like he thought he was but then gets insanely jealous despite not really wanting her. It's like an ego thing to him, I think. Their DV incident at the end of the episode was disturbing and I'm kind of expecting them to get replaced in episode 2 because they aren't gonna make it three weeks under the same roof. Alcohol and horny people who thought they wanted to get together living under the same roof is a baddddd combo that Bunim-Murray should know better about but apparently still doesn't.
      Aaron/Joanna: I think Joanna knew she wasn't gonna be attracted to Aaron in person, but was hoping she was wrong. Their date was a straight up disaster and she seems completely tapped out on him already. Can he turn it around?
      Aaron/Dymond: Nothing about this couple isn't strange. She really seems like she just wants to embarrass him and dump him on TV. Maybe they have hope, maybe they don't.
      ====
      When I watched the first episode, I was kind of like, I don't even know how I'm going to approach this. But as I started the translations, it became pretty clear that my videos are basically going to be pointing out red flags, good moments, and high comedy. I hope it will be worth watching but it really is a mess lol. One thing I do wish they told us is the occupations of the people in the show. It could help us understand who would be willing and not willing to move due to their work.

      @@NotreadyTolove I am doing well 😊. I have published a book Reflections of the Heart (shameless plug there sorry🤦🏾‍♀️).... Straight off, I am glad that Josh was there to help Alexis. Where was security???....🤨😠.
      All the couples have a lot of explaining to do 🧐😄. I understand distance, work schedules and family commitments do play a part, HOWEVER, you mean to tell us (the viewers) that you could not take a weekend trip to see/meet each other after all these months if not years???....hmm🤔. This show will be interesting to watch and now that your translating it, I will be tuning in. Enjoy your day NRTL! 🙂

      @desreenjackson7638 I ended my video wondering the same thing about security. That was clearly an escalating situation that probably happened over half an hour or so. My thinking is that the crew was 'off' when the incident began as just verbal jawing. If you watch, you'll notice the footage starts out essentially hidden cam (the verbal confrontation begins). When it begins heavily escalating, they're playing with chronology. They covered part of the scene where things get bad with her strutting around the dining area grabbing her butt with Shay laughing (showing it hadn't gone off the rails by that time yet). They had at least 2 cameras covering when the DV happens, because they had a couple of angles, though I don't think anyone was mic'd.
      When I worked on The Real World (seasons 3, 4, and 5 a million years ago in post), the directors had control rooms in the houses but they went dark (no cams) for a period of time each night. The incident said it was happening around 2:40am, which was a dark time on The Real World. My guess for this show is one crew member was paid to monitor hidden camera feeds and was told to wake the crew up if anything of note begins so they could capture it with real cams (they'd probably need about 15 minutes to be ready from scratch in a situation like that). It doesn't explain why there doesn't appear to be any security on the set (absolute insanity if true for a show like this), as this was a very clear and real incident of violence that escalated over a decent period of time.
      Someone should have stepped in to stop it way before it got to the second part of it (at the push away, security should have been all over that making sure nothing else happened). I think Josh was way too small to have done anything about the situation when it looked like there was potential of serious violence (he's smaller than both Dom and Alexis by a good margin) and they cut before you could really see anything he tried to do to react other than appearing to know he needed that drink out of his hand. He just knew it was bad and was ready to step in if he could.

      @justapettymess OWN must have put out a call for a better RTL, and instead they got a more RTL. I'm mystified how this made it to air on OWN.
