Comparison of chicken rice between Hainan and Malaysia or Singapore is as meaningless as comparing pizzas in Italy to those in NYC or Chicago. Each dish evolved in its own environment, separated by vast distances. So today we have more to enjoy and that is a better discourse than trying to establish origins or which version is more 'pure'.

About 250 km, or 150 miles. Wenchang is northeast of the Hainan island. Sanya is on the southern tip of the island.
