Hello everyone! I'm sorry I took all of last week off, I had some pains in my right hand because I was over practicing Mazeppa by Liszt. I took a long break from that piece, might revisit it, carefully this time. So! I'm back, and my hand is feeling much better. Just in case however, I chose to play "Eyes on Me" today because it would be easy on my hands. This piece is just one of my favorites, and it is beautiful. So much so that I didn't want to change the original notes from the Piano Collections (just like my last cover of this).
If you're wondering why the sound is so clear now, it is because of a new mixer, and two more mics! My recording set up is now much better, and it will only get better as I add more gear, and learn how to use it more effectively. I truly hope you enjoy this cover. I plan to do more remakes of Final Fantasy, Disney, Ghibli, and the like on the grand piano now that I can :)

I didn't expect this, but I really needed to hear it. It brought back so many memories when I was struggling with myself years ago, and one of the songs that helped me was this one. I remember listening to it over and over again. Now, years later, I've been struggling again with myself for months, but today I've been hitting my point of breaking down and not being able to keep it together because so many bad things happened this week where I can't think of a positive out of the events. So I would like to say thank you for posting this, because it made me smile and sing along when listening to you play. ❤

FF music will always be one of my favorites.
This brought me to tears. So many memories flashing back. FF8 is the first RPG game I've ever played and my current email account is still the heroine's name. I've listened to tons of piano music, but this one remains my favorite. Well done!
Love it. Really one of the best songs on the entire saga. And not only that, the arrangement is astounding, Shiro Hamaguchi made truly amazing work with the Piano Collections from FF's of PS1. Keep it up!!
He did 7-9 and they are all fabulous. Why they didn't hire him for more, I will NEVER know. He's my FAVORITE!!
@@kylelandry Absolutely, I totally agree. The best piano arranger I've ever seen. Casey Ormond did a great job on FFXII too (The Archadian Empire, Nalbina Fortress...) but Shiro Hamaguchi is god.
Agreed on 7-9! FFX-2 has some underrated piano collection tracks as well. 1st track is especially magical

I used to play the piano when I was younger but had two strokes when I was 10 due to various other neurological conditions that came along at the same time and haven't been able to play since, though I've tried many times; I miss having the ability to play the piano very much. I love listening to you play, though I'm incredibly jealous, I have to admit. The depression I suffer from has been particularly severe in the past few years, this song does take me back to a happier time and it is so nice to hear it again, and played so beautifully. Thank you for sharing this.

Amazingly well played. I got the sheet music on this from the Piano collections CD when I was young and I begged my piano teacher at the time that I wanted to play it. It was too difficult at the time, she said. But I persevered and after a long time of trial and error (I could not read sheets well), I was finally able to play it.
Even though I don't have anything to play on today, whenever I get to play on a random piano this song still sticks with me.
The way you play it reminds me of my childhood, even the expression while you play feels the same way I used to play (though to be fair, not as good ofc).
I think I need to get myself an electric piano as soon as possible..

I fell in love with this song when I heard this other Japanese piano player playing it with beautiful emotions. Such a romantic melody with sweet lyrics too! Then I found yours. Very different version from other pianist but still stunningly beautiful.

Liszt is beautiful but can be painful.
Final Fantasy is one of the rare licence to have piano piece that are challenging some master classical pieces.
Dancing Mad piano opera version or tracks from FF XIII are some of the most challenging for pianists
Kyle maybe you could adjust the microphone's sensitivity or position a little more so that you don't catch the pedal noise.
And I hope to see Mozart/Volodos - Turkish March's cover at the grand piano.
I like the pedal noise. With digital music the way it is nowadays, it's the little imperfections like that that reassures you that it's an authentic performance.
Jero Toro I like the sentiment, but I love the clearness of the piano, and it would be nice not to hear the *-thump-*in the middle
The mechanical sounds are fine to me. I am more irritated by the microphonics of some of the higher notes. Something that shouldn't be seems to be resonating/ringing there.
But that is just me it shouldn't detract others, the rendition was awesome ;)
I like the pedal sound just like the fingers brushing guitar frets
