But these days, many of these tricks are frowned upon when they are done during official matches. Some have even been banned outright, and it is those ones that we want to talk about in this video today.

Richarlison did seal dribble couple days ago against Korea (WC 2022, for future viewers) and he was greatly appreciated by media and fans.....and I also think it's a legitimate skill.

Especially since everybody pretends to be injured all the time to draw fouls and penalties which is “unsportsmanlike” and that’s so common it’s accepted

apart from the 'donkey shot' they make sense as the only defence against them involves kicking the player i the face /head or nuts. the donkey shot rule should be overturned
Donkey shot makes sense as you must have had to kick it twice to lift it up, if only fractionally one foot before the other.

Even a gentle shove with the shoulder or a frontal block does the trick.
Getting multiple players to surround the ball to lift it up squeezed by their bodies then walking it to opponents goal is also illegal.

Seal dribble is the only I'd maybe have kept... Because it must be crazy to see this happening live
All the tricks that are technically not illegal are really dangerous. You are prone to get tackled into oblivion if you overdo it. Especially in lower leagues. But even in the match between Brasil and South Korea you can see the defender trying for a header while Richarlison is juggling the ball. If someone headbutted Richarlison in that scene the referee might not even give out a card since it would have been a fight for the ball. The same pretty much goes for all moves that lock the ball in a somewhat static position.
Seal Dribble won't work against Rustu.
He can counter it with airwalker tackle.

I understand the ones where the player keeps the ball up. The only ways of getting the ball back all include dangerous but unnecesary moves, like jumping towards the player, or kicking higher than you should, potentially kicking that player instead. Im not against players showing off tho, pulling tricks during a match is honestly rlly cool.

thats weird , i do agree with shirt catch only, and other trick can be done actually.. neck trick, head juggling, i do that in the game.. i will fail when someone push it by their body.. its easy to stop it..

it's to protect player themself. stalling the ball on your neck and forehead? your opponent team can kick your face. this is why those trick considered unsportsmanlike. this is soccer not kickboxing.

The first 2 and the last are real and make sense. Shirt catch would involve untucking the jersey. Donkey kick, the 1st player is taking more than 1 touch. Low header to the keeper falls under using trickery to pass the ball back.
The middle 4 are cap. No actual law against them, but could be called under unsporting conduct, if the ref wants to. In the same sense that any advance skills are "unsporting" because players with less skill can't do them (eg: hocus pocus, elastico, rainbow, bicycles, and so on).
And remember kids in the end it is all under the "opinion" of the ref. Some will call it, some will not.
How would you propose a defender try to get the ball back from someone doing the deal dribble? He would literally have to kick him in the face.
Those rules are protecting the offensive player from putting himself in danger.

All players have a right to positioning on a field. It is not impeding to defend someone, by positioning yourself before them. That positioning occurs all game long.

I'm guessing some of these tricks are hard to define precisely and thus they all end up coming under the "dangerous play" category, which is a subjective call made by the referee.

Anything that is used to retain the ball like the shirt catch or the leg catch.. well yes.
That retention rule existed like forever. If you fell on the ground and somehow you keep the ball away or out of reach its "punishable", then why not apply it in the air.
The seal dribble, neck stall and the head dribble, im not sure. Technically the player is retaining the ball and can be dangerous. In those cases the player is keeping the ball out of the oponents reach and putting himself in harms way. Id say it may even bee reckless in some instances unless you want your head guillotined by a kick

A donkey shot is a good trick but passing with both feet is illegal. A player should touch with one foot while kicking a free kick.

The shirt catch and holding the ball between legs and walking are obvious things to ban but the rest should be allowed. Beyond that the only thing that needs banning badly is the constant faking of injuries that occurs.
The last trick if you use a team mate... he flicks the ball up you head it back to keeper.. then what happens?
Putting the ball in your shirt doesn't make any sense but any other natural football trick shouldn't be banned. That is what makes special players special because half of the others can not do it.

Football is very boring without these beautiful tricks. It's not unsportsmanlike to use tricks to fool the opponent in order to make a goal and win the game. The shirt thing is understandable though. Sports' only job is to entertain us and banning the fun stuff is truly unsportsmanlike thing to do.

The defender will end up injuring himself and the attacker if he misses the ball. And we know how serious head injuries can be. Skills like this are annoying cuz there's almost no way of stopping it without injuring the player with the ball.
One of the things I love about football is the lack of rules. Of course there's stuff like offside and many more. But there's more freedom than in most sports, the only limit is your skill or your creativity. Banning skills kills the game.

The "Low Headers" one was done on WC finals in 2022, when an argentinian drop to his knees to pass the ball to the goalie. So that should be a penalty then.

The Donkey Kick Free Kick was banned due to the free kick taker technically touching/kicking the ball twice. Another player must touch the ball before the free kick taker can touch the ball again. Using both feet is technically touching the ball twice.

i think you missed out the reason why players cannot give the ball back to the goalkeeper... legend says it was because rene higuita used to drible when he got the ball and fifa liked that and made it a rule for goalkeepers to not be able to touch the ball with their hands.... i might be wrong you tell me.
