Literally the quest where warframe story started going into sh*t The sacrifice is about nothing, its so clear to see that this quest was scrapped like 2 times over and by the end it even failed to adhere to its own theme Its an enjoyable warframe loreparade that fails to drive any meaning or story forward and ultimately is the first quest that failed to deliver on its core idea(because they had to scrap the original idea) Ever since Sacrifice, warframe lore quests are passable 3/5s at best, and make 0 fkin sense while before it was carefully crafted, full of symbolism and dripping from strong themes. Not anymore
@@federicoleonardi43 no, you can't delete him...at all. when you subsume Warframes he's the go to Warframe....in the story....he's the go to Warframe 😏
I started out Warframe as a volt. But I hated my choice so much that I ended up not playing warframe for years until the sacrifice quest came along and I farmed a rhino frame to use until I got umbra, now I just use umbra.
"Ordis would be happy to hear how depressed you are!" Still the best lines Ordis have said until now Also can't believe they made the most lore heavy frame and then never talk about it ever again
i'm sad that new war didn't even mention umbra ONCE. it was just about some dude named balls and an abusive, very confusing relationship that almost destroyed the entire system. I hope they bring back umbra at some point atleast
This, the DOOM reference you made, and the fact that he's essentially a mix of Doomguy and Chief with a dash of organic-tech Robocop, is why I equip my Umbra with Tigris and Aksomati Prime. Though when Umbra's own theme started playing, that really bolted itself into my memory; it's why I've merely 'saturated' his colours instead of customizing him to my own style initially, only did that when I had the option to get a 4th slot for fashion. Examples: 1: Slayer+Chief (Tigris/Corinth and Aksomati/Akvasto, Skiajati) 2: Starters (Braton/Paris, Magnus/Spira, Bo (or Prisma Skana if you really want to 'go back') ) 3: Misc (Hikou, Tatsu, Hespar, Mausolon*) This is also assuming you have the Prime counterparts of these weapons (as/when obtainable, if possible). Reason for Tatsu is for NeiR: Automata reference. Hikou Prime is more a Genji/Overwatch reference. Hespar is a generic grim reaper thing but also fits nicely on Umbra. *Mausolon requires the Archgun Deployer from Fortuna's Profit-Taker bounties and a Gravimag, but this adds to the DOOM sensation by a metric. 4: Stalker (Dread, Despair, Hate) Shadow 'Prime' (Nataruk, Despair, War) Customize Umbra to somewhat 'inverted' colours, which makes him look much more like Stalker and also base Excal in some ways for this to feel effective. The idea isn't to be another Acolyte, but to be a 'parallel universe' Stalker - a hypothetical timeline where Stalker was Umbra and Umbra was Stalker, is the idea. For extra antagonist energy, consider subsuming a Sevagoth for his Gloom, and replace Radial Javelin in another loadout slot with it. Sacrifice is arguably one of my favourite quests because of Umbra and how Ballas' Vitruvian reveals how Hunhow learned of where the Tenno where kept, and showing Natah herself for the first time. After that I always wanted the option to have Umbra lounging in the Orbiter as continued proof that he's still independent, at least at the time. Now there's a lot of other stuff that could definitely benefit with him being involved in my opinion, which is why I bring him to any Landscapes (as in, the open world zones) or Railjack.
This has to be the largest comment I have ever received and I must say, what a pleasure to read. Much of the information provided I have saved in case it gets me out of a jam some day. Players like you provide newcomers like me with structured and specific advice that aid our experience without being a detriment. Players like you got me back into the game in the first place.
seeing this quest again makes me want to hear the operator talk more, like the combat quotes they're supposed to say in missions, having more say in quests, etc.
idk why ballas thought we couldnt hurt him at the end when its heavily implied we tenno were the ones to bring down the orokin empire as for lotus being a sentient that is pointed out in the natah quest. something you had to do to progress in the star chart guess you forgot huh
"Even I make mistakes, like you." This is probably the one line that sums up Ballas the best of all his quotes. The double meaning alluding to him, a golden god, making mistakes in his otherwise flawless plans; creating umbra, that being a big mistake in itself, but also alluding to umbra being a mistake of his creation.

Primary, secondary if you don't have a primary equipped, melee if you don't have primary or secondary equipped. Will also use his abilities (aside from exalted blade) every now and then, including any of them replaced with a helminth ability. Very fun to play with, i used to run around in my operator with umbra, my moa and my on call crew/spectres following me as a mini squad - especially good if you put sevagoth's gloom ability on umbra to give everyone some lifesteal since if he uses it it will just stay active until you transfer back into him.
