- I've been to stonehenge a few times for the summer/winter solstice, but never actually been on a day where it was open properly, so I was keen to check it out (and get some use out of my english heritage membership while I can) I ended up checking out a few other local places too, and it was a really nice day. thanks for watching =)
Thanks for that and it's nice to see someone enjoying putting them selves out there :)
Thank you so much 😊
I’m sure the ancient people would be amused if not impressed that people are still making their way to Stonehenge to this day😊
Haha yes they probably would!
What a lovely day to visit Stonehenge with all those glorious clouds! I bet someone stole the metal information plaque at Woodhenge, it was there when I visited around two years ago. That Lords Walk looked really nice I’ll have to put that one on my list
It was a lovely day! Yes shame about the sign , not sure why someone would steal that but people are weird 😅 thanks for watching
Ooh lucky you - that's one place I really want to go to see. The whole landscape around there is just full of interesting ancient places, funny thing is I have been to many of them but not the main stones. Thank you for the vid. 😀
It is completely jam packed full of them! I really like the lesser known ones too, there’s a great website called megalithic.org that works all over the world too with an awesome map 😊
@@madmousetales Thank you
What a lovely video Nimi with great narration and explanations. It's a mystical place that's for sure. My friend experiences earth energies there; he does dowsing, have you ever seen anyone doing that? It's truly amazing. His name is Marq English, check him out. He's currently doing a 6 part series all around Avebury and parts of Wiltshire with it's ancient history. I think you'll enjoy. I've not heard of Woodhenge; awesome. When we go down there we will have to check out all these places you bring to us. Butser is on my list too one day.
Thank you for sharing Nimi, another lovely one 🥰
Ooh I was thinking about dowsing the other day actually, it is quite mind boggling! I will definitely check him out, sounds fascinating. Thanks for the recommendation ! And thanks for watching ❤❤
@@madmousetales Oh yes, mind boggling is definitely how to describe it, there's something going on there, for sure. I hope you'll enjoy watching. He's a great friend of ours 🥰
I think we would have been to Stonehenge around 1982ish... I think it was fully accessible then ie not roped off at all. I don't remember it (I was only 4)... I presume the museum type building (with obligatory gift shop) is quite new? I always find the little nub on the top of one of those stones quite fascinating... I mean I assume it was to ensure the piece that sat on top of it (originally) would "lock into place" but just that extra bit of crafting shows how much thought went into putting the stones in place.
Yeah I think it did use to be accessible but I guess they have to prevent erosion. But on the solstice it’s a free for all 😂 the museum bit did feel fairly new , gift shop to get all the Stonehenge paraphernalia you could want. That’s awesome that you’ve been though! And thanks for watching 😊
The issue with Stonehenge is that it's often seen as overrated, underwhelming, and overly commercialized. Its main appeal lies in the enigma surrounding its construction and purpose. Beyond that, it may seem like just a collection of stones in a field.
You are right, i was glad to have seen it in that context but it’s not quite the same as being surrounded by chanting druids at sunrise 😊
Thanks Nimi, beautifully done video. Went to Stone henge in the 90's, i dont think wood henge was a thing back then. Standing stones facinate me, ive always wanted to go see thw stones at Carnac in Brittany. Maybe one day...
Omg I want to go to Carnac so badly too!! Yes they are fascinating, I’m sure there’s so many that have yet to be discovered too !
I have been to Stonehenge 15 years ago with a tour group from my area here in Australia , I always wanted to see Stonehenge, I have photos it was a very cloudy overcast day , I really enjoyed it I have seen many other beautiful areas of England. I love the history of England
Amazing! It is probably our most famous sight, that’s great that you got to see it 😊
You're absolutely right that they should sponsor you at this point. Because of you, I swear if I ever give in and move over from the States, I'm getting a membership the same day I get my citizenship.
Haha yes do it!!
@@madmousetales I think I'd spend too much time at The World's End in Camden is the problem.
@@squttnbear Camden is awesome! Bristol is also a great city with a similar vibe
@@madmousetales I have not been to Bristol yet, but I would absolutely love to spend time there. In my two week trip at the end of April, I think I was in Camden around 5-7 times because I loved it.
thanks for another lovely day out
Thanks for joining 😊
Great upload keep up the good work, best wishes 🦇🦇🖤🖤
Thank you so much ❤
