VW T3 Syncro 16" RHD 4WD's competing in the 1990 Australian Safari

  • Volkswagen's team of two T3 Syncro 4WD's (the only 2 RHD 16" models ever produced) competed in the 1990 Australian Safari to prove that standard vehicles could successfully compete against the highly modified prototype vehicles. That a private entrant still had that chance of winning against the professional rally drivers is amazing, and indeed win they did in their class - under 2.5 litres. Competing were Graham Lees of Northshore Volkswagen (Dual Cab) and Dave Berry of Trakka (16" High Top). You can see recent pictures of the same 2 vehicles at www.syncro.com....
