    Great test drive. It amazes me why there are so many huge SUV’s in the UK, I agree practical little cars like yours, would be very sensible in this day & age. The acceleration is none to shabby either

      Thanks. So many seem to be too badge conscious and likely worried about how others may see them. Personally, I don’t care and I find it fascinating watching people’s faces as they drive past me on the M5 heading to Bristol to see family 😁

    Gosh Paul I watched this on Saturday when it was released and loved every second, you and I think alike, I do think most countries should be driving these fun and cute little practical and reliable cars, if it makes sense in Japan it should makes sense for many Brits.
    Here in the states we only see the 25 year old little Kei Car pick ups which are limited to 25 mph, meanwhile I see 5 seater trucks and large 7-9 seater SUV's with only a driver on board go past my house day after day, such a waste of fuel, These Kei Cars would make great in town second cars here in the USA.
    Toyota brought out the Scion series of cars in Mid 2000s, they were cheap small cars intended for the younger generation, it turned out the average ownership age was 50 year old's, The Scion Bb a rebadged Toyota Bb also sold as a Diahatsu and Subaru was such a popular car, boxy but practical and cute and based on the Yaris, the Auris was another model now a Corolla Sport, that brand name has disappeared now.
    It was such a shame to see the Diahatsu brand pull out of the UK some years ago, simple, practical and reliable cars are what we need in this day and age, I'm tired of all the high tech stuff.

      Thanks. Some countries, like the UK, are extremely badge aware. People parade their trinkets around in competition with other owners, even though many are on hire purchase/leased/company cars. I have occasionally had driver’s in Mercedes, BMWs etc pushing me along a 60mph road (when I’m doing 60) because they feel they can’t be behind such a car.
      I will look at them as they go past and wonder what their lives are like… never satisfied that they have it all and someone might have something better then them.
      Thanks for watching and your comment.

      @@LivetoDriveUK Sorry Paul, I thought Id already replied to this comment, it did amuse me, I totally agree on badge aware or badge snobbery as you sometimes call it, I have UK in laws that play that game, It makes me laugh as its so pointless trying to keep up with the Jones's, Leave me out of it, I drive what makes me happy, it has nothing to do with impressing others, its usually affordable reliable and practical much like the Tanto you have here.
      I drive a 94 Camry, I always have people passing me even though I'm over the speed limit, they cant stand being behind cars perceived as slower, its all in their minds, my grey hair doesn't help matters LOL.
      I find very strange that people would parade around in competition cars that are leased and company cars, but that's some people for you, always trying to push an image when they are purely Fake.
      I have to agree on the German brands, they are very much the people we speak of, I used to be a fan of some German brands, but in the last five years with MPG scams and EV fires they have lost me.

      @@rbnhd1144 I only seen your reply today. TH-cam isn’t good at notifying of more replies to the same comment. I would much prefer driving a 94 Camry than the ‘not owned badge competition never going to be happy keep up with the Jones’s’ crew 😊

    I'm jealous. I used to have a Daihatsu Move+ which I loved. I had to get a bigger car for a while because I needed to be able to carry five passengers for a few years. Now I'd love to downsize to a Keivan or Keiwagon like yours but I can't get insurance that I can afford. I've been to all the insurers recommended on Kei Cars UK on Facebook. Only one would even offer insurance and that was at five times what I'm currently paying so I'm having to give up the search. I live in London and know that inflates the premiums and I understand that spares and delivery times may be a problem but the difference is so enormous that it doesn't make sense. Enjoy your car.

    • @LivetoDriveUK
      @LivetoDriveUK  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I understand. Insurance can be expensive on imports and as you said it is dependent on location. Spares might be an issue but I’m slowly finding part numbers and suppliers. Items like plugs etc are fine although the air filter has been a little difficult. My plan is to find the correct discs, pads and rear shoes and purchase them as preventative maintenance. Thanks for watching and your support.

    Well done Paul a great video as ever and it’s such a shame we didn’t get these amazing little cars new and are only just discovering them now it would have been a good solution in the cities at the time
    They are so practical cannot believe how you can maximise space in the interior
    Looking forward to the next video best wishes to you all

      Thanks. People in the UK are too worried about what they think others will think and say. As a car, a practical, economical and reliable car, it does everything we need it to do. If it were not the case that Fran prefers a manual gearbox… we would probably use it as an everyday car. Thanks for your ongoing support. It’s appreciated.

    @6:20 Depends on the SUV but the load capacity is still lower. Just because you could fit an Indian family with cow and luggage in there doesn't mean the suspension would not bottom out. I'd rather stick with a Cadillac Escalade. 😂😘

    • @LivetoDriveUK
      @LivetoDriveUK  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a good point yes. We all would love an Escalade but the roads here are not built for them.

    how is it for highway speed? What is the top speed? I wonder if medium to long rides at highway speed could be done or is the car reving so high that's it's uncomfortable and not so good on the car.

    • @LivetoDriveUK
      @LivetoDriveUK  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We travel often over 200 miles in a day to visit family. Revs are not too high and it’s a comfortable place to be. The engine is likely bombproof anyway, it doesn’t care how many revs. Good petrol and regular oil changes.

      @@LivetoDriveUK thank you for the reply, now i have to convince the Canadian government to let people here import kei cars that are newer than 15 years old....
