Nightelf was my first ever character and I was immediately enchanted by the music and the world .. I love watching your videos for the nostalgia, very well put together and great story telling! Thank you
I'm glad you're enjoying my vids! Night elves are awesome ;)
classic Duskwood will always be my favorite MMO zone
It just sucked that the Scythe of Elune quest was a dead end, because DAMN this was the questline that got my little Night Elf Hunter hooked on WoW in 2004.
After years of playing Classic I think it is definitely the BEST in terms of questing and zone design, and definitely in my top 3 subjective favorites too :)
It's so cool how we take all the mobs in Azeroth as granted or see them just a part of a quest to get some armor although there is such a deep lore behind most of those enemies.
I would have never thought that the worgen in Duskwood had such an interesting lore
It was so unfortunate that this quest was a complete dead end in 2004 =\
Yeah!! Without starting the questline all the way over in Ashenvale most players would never realize worgen have a really deep backstory and not just "werewolves but in WoW" :D
It would be insane if you actually predict the Scythe on SoD's Karazhan raid. Amazing job.
I can't believe it but they just added Dark Riders as part of a Warlock rune quest :o ...it could actually be happening!!!
Knowledge of Ur is also contradicted by the Satyr War because the Pack druids banished in the cata lore were *asleep* in the dream. Unconscious.
This is a good point!
the story of these ancient artifacts and how they pass from hand to hand is so cool , ty :)
You're welcome! :)
The worgen quest line in Duskwood was always so cool to me. I used to dream of being able to make my character a worgen. So cool to see all the lore around it.
Yes, it's one of the coolest parts of the zone! :D
This is one of those lore aspects that confirms my own head-canon that Elune operates outside what we know about gods and goddess'. While a lot of her actions are passive, they happen more frequently, for very specific reasons, and sometimes when asked/prayed, whereas other gods only intervene when they deem it necessary or if you're worthy of such help. Even if that outcome is taken as a negative result (burning of Teldrasil), it serves a higher purpose (night elf souls to help in the Shadowlands). She's also one of the few gods that we have never met in person, aside from a brief possession of Tyranda in Shadowlands.
Good points! That is something I hadn't considered :)
I love these hidden lore videos! Actually super informative on extreme details I never noticed in my 19 years of playing the game
Yes!! I'm glad you enjoyed this one! :D
playing night elf or draenei and following the scythe of elune quest from ashenvale to duskwood is a really, really awesome adventure!
Yeah!! :)
Alas! In trying to sow chaos among his brethren in his hate towards malfurion, fandral ended up starting a chain of events that would forever unlock worgen as a playable race
The furry butterfly effect XD
Thank you again for the exciting video! Prior to the retail, again Turtle WoW did some extension of this questline by making a Karazhan dungeon and even a quest for it. Have not done it yet
Nice! Sounds interesting!
holy shit dark riders are in SoD now
I'm so ready! :o ...I can't believe it!!
I'm not sure if Season of Discovery will add anything that the Balance Druid Artifact questline in Legion didn't. Fun questline, btw, plus you end up with the Scythe. My druid was very happy about that.
That is cool! :D
I HATED the cataclysm retcons around the Scythe and Worgen, alien Worgen were way cooler. SPECIFICALLY thr pack form replacing the "another world being invaded by the Legion at the same time as the War of the Ancients"
Alien worgen are definitely cooler, and unique, but Gilneas is far and away the best starting zone in the game so... you win some you lose some
@xismyhero You can still have Gilnean worgen, the onld lore just means no druid of the pack satyr war nonsense
@@DIEGhostfishit makes much more chance that Worgen being aliens. There are too many aliens already
@Sodys_eyy Th orii al lore was that the Worgen were from another world that was being invaded by the Legion at the same time as the War of the Ancients, the priestess saw them battling in a vision and opened a portal to bring them over as "the enemy of my enemey" but it turned out they were savage monsters and infectious, so she sealed them away.
This served many purposes: It showed that even during the GREATEST Legion invasion of Azeroth, they still had the numbers to simultaneously invade countless other worlds.
2. It showed that the rest of the universe was weird and dangerous even when it's against thr legion.
@@Sodys_eyy Army of the Light would have veen wat more interesting if it wasn't just draenei and ONE Dreadlord.
I only just played through this questline in SoD, never saw it all the way through in Classic before. Nice coincidence for me that you make a video on it!
Haha, that's awesome! :) SoD was when I really started paying attention to it and investigating ;)
Wow, didnt know a lot of this and was gripped the whole vid, loving the content and hoping to see you in game :)
I'm glad you enjoyed this! :D Looking out for you as well!
Great video, I enjoy your topics and narrative a lot. Keep going!
More vids on the way! Thanks for watching :)
Velinde Starsong is my favorite NPC.. atleast NPC which we never meet..! Her story is so tragic. Actually got a DK named Velindethe who is entirely based on her, even gathered armor to make her look exactly like the NPC 😄 ofc, the headcanon is that arthas raised her from that pile of dirt, after discovering her story 😅
Glad to hear from someone who likes her story a lot too! :) That's great you have a character based on her. :D
This was a great video! Keep it up man, you are good!
Thank you! I'm glad you found it... for some reason this one was NOT picked up by the algorithm as much so I'm glad it's getting a little boost lately :)
Very nice video my friend. Good job!
Thank you! :)
This one of my all time faves !
Yay! That makes me happy to hear. :)
Thank you for the video! I love these!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
No-matter how I search this video, it will not come up on search results until I go to your channel.
Anyways, I was very curious about this lore the moment I realized that elf lost the Scythe to Worgen in duskwood. Theres a spot in ashenvale that she prayed to elune for the scythe. I was thinking of going there and praying myself.
Wonder what you'll find? :D
Good stuff! I always loved Duskwood.
One of the best zones! :D
I've discovered your channel yesterday and was watching your lore videos and I must say that thank you for presenting such interesting, slightly obscure and mysterious lore from WoW! I always missed these hidden, gloomy details from WoW lore. So sad the Blizzard scrapped many hidden stuff up and the mystery vibe of the game worn off.
You are so welcome! I'm glad you like my videos :)
Great video! More of these!!
More in the future for sure! These ones take a long time to make so I try to pace myself with some smaller ones in between, but there will be more soon :)
@@Jediwarlock No stress my man, we're here, appreciating all of your content! Keep it up
tfw I literally never actually THOUGHT about Felwood but yeah, I mean Hyjal is right there that makes perfect sense that its demon addled because its the remnants of the Legions attempted invasion at the battle of hyjal
Thanks for the comment! :D
13:14 poor velinda didn't have her class hall unlocked yet
True!
im a balance druid so this is easily my weapon of choice. thanks for this great vid about it's lore
You're welcome! I'm glad it was informative. :)
I just did this quest line in SoD and was wondering what it was all about.
Now you know! :D
Pretty strong magic that can give humans an ancient Nightelf druid form 😁
Indeed! :o
I used to think the Worgen came from Outland and that was why the orcs had wolves. Was kind of dissapointed they didn't end up being aliens.
That would've been a cool idea! It was definitely a partial theory before they went with the Emerald Nightmare approach. :)
Blizzard ADD THIS TO SOD!!! Worgen raid/dungeon hype hype hype
That would be fun... maybe something related to the Scythe/worgen curse in the Karazhan Crypts! :o
I kinda remember the scythe is in Karazan in Legion. I guess that makes the resolution of the lore you are pointing cannon and confirmed
Yeah! They brought it back in Legion and it had something to do with the Dark Riders... I'd be curious to see if SoD will move toward supporting that story or will do something totally different with it. :)
Arent the riders talked about at the end in one of the legion class order hall quests? i want to say it was the boomkin one for the scythe of elune but my first thought was DK for some reason...
Yeah! I think they were briefly used in Legion for the artifact quests :)
What if....
The scythe of elune ended up being an unruly weapon chiefly bcoz of hurt ego?
The scythe was fashioned from Goldrinn's fang yet named as the scythe of elune. Maybe this pissed off Goldrinn and thus affected the weapon to cause a frenzy in the worgen instead of the intended effects.
It's possible!
Dammit lord blackwald, drop my scythe already!
XD
So thats why hunters in wrath could tame wargan as pets.
Yeah! I heard about that and thought it was a cool bug, haha
@@Jediwarlock its funny how bliz still allows thoose mads enough to tame one in wrath to keep it.
I wish i had one
If a dwarf gets bit by a worgen does it turn into a small worgen?
"It's time for you to look inward and begin asking yourself the real questions..." - Uncle Iroh XD
What happens if a satyr is bit by a worgen?
Hmmm XD
👍👍
:)
Looks to me you only covered part of lore. How did Scythe of Elune travel from Duskwood to Gilneas during Cataclysm. Thats the real question
That is a good question!
War of thr Satyr is the opposite of Classic WoW lore, it is a massive retcon that erased the original classic quest and book lore.
Man, I was SO pissed when I found out they removed this and the Stalvan quest line. A tragedy.
Interesting points! :D I tried to incorporate a bit of both in this vid but it's kind of hard to sort through it all with all the intertwining sources sometimes.
Do you really dislike the expansions after the Wrath of the Lich King so much that you refused to include footage of Gilneas location from the Сataclysm in the video about the worgen?
I like trying to stick with the Classic vibes where I can... I could have used some of the cinematic footage of the Wall I guess, but I don't have Retail characters to film with so I can't get custom footage from more modern expansions.
Hey, you have a good knack for this kind of thing! Cheers!
Thanks so much! :)
