Purpose isn't exactly the correct word for what this video advocates. Purpose is defined as "the reason for existence" and that requires the belief in a Creator. The focus here in this video is on setting goals that give us a feeling of having a purpose. Many people feel that helping others is their purpose but if it is just a feeling that we seek, then our true goal is to stroke our ego. At some point in life, we're going to ask ourselves, is chasing after some feeling really a life worth living.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. You have an interesting take, for us purpose is why you take on the goal in the first place, it's what motivates us when things get tough, without a purpose or meaning then the goal often fades. Of course, not all goals are equal and therein lies the challenge - which goal has the highest purpose or meaning. In our work with companies all over the world, we lean into the need for work to be purposeful, having meaning for why we do what we do helps to stay focused and motivate ourselves. We are inspired by the research Google did on high performing teams and two of their five principles are for us at least linked to purpose, one is that the work id personally important to team members and the other is a belief that the work we do matters and creates change. Appreciate the interaction.
