- Engineer Tom Allum plays Ozzy Osbourne's hilarious original vocal track on Black Sabbath's Paranoid. Thankfully, Geezer Butler would later write the actual lyrics. (From the Classic Albums series.)

"I love you but you don't wanna know me but I think you're great and I wanna see" is pure lyrical gold. Very relatable. 10/10.
I'm just gonna hijack your comment to say that the final lyrics are actually great, he perfectly described being depressed over 50 years ago when "mental health" wasn't even really a thing yet, way before "oh so new" Billie Eilish. People underestimate his skill because all they think about is the drugs he took and how he bit the head off the bat.
@@CamRebires
Geezer wrote all the lyrics
@@kubagalinski8724 I just checked, wow, thanks for telling! All my compliments go to him then
@@CamRebires
Yes, Geezer is a genius!
Honestly sounds like something Syd Barrett would write, especially in his short solo career.
Ozzy was really good at writing vocal melodies. Very recognizable. Easy to write lyrics over.
He just copy melody of song. lol
Yes, Ozzy had the knack, though, it was serrendippity he would wind up with the right other 3 guys for his peculiar talent.
@@Artesound He did that occasionally when he thought it fitting, but there are many more songs where he didn't. Go listen to Hand of Doom, War Pigs, Children of the Grave, Planet Caravan, Snowblind, Hole in the Sky, A National Acrobat, etc. Just go listen to some fucking Sabbath.

@@Huesos138 Or Black Sabbath and The Writ. Both songs are also some of the ones he actually came up with at least most of the lyrics.
"Oh yeah" was obviously the best part of these lyrics as that was kept for the album version.
That’s kind of just a vocal tic for Ozzy he has been adding “yeahs” to the end of verses basically since he started recording as far as I know.
Geezer has said that Ozzy Osbourne never really got much credit for his ability to come up with melodies to get a feel for the song.
That's true!!!
Don Airey has said the same about Ozzy.
And it sounds like Geezer was inspired by his ad lib lyrics
In my opinion, that makes the best songs. Music is meant to be felt, you don't write music, you play it. I genuinely don't view most classical music as music because of this. I like it, it's pleasant noise, but it's just that, noise. Music isn't supposed to be sophisticated, it's supposed to come from the soul, that's what makes it magical. The best and only way to write music is to just vomit your mind onto your instrument and then tweak it ever so slightly to come together in cohesion.
@@MyachaChclassical music is most certainly felt. They just dont have tv or radio like we do today. So they spent hours playing and writing. Most great guitarist are classically taught.
the 70's/early 80's Ozzy was unbelievable
Still not a songwriter
I WANNA SEE YOU!
Yuiop Yams SMILE INTO MY FACEEE
BeefTV OHYEAHHHHHAHEAAAAHHH
My god he could really sing back in the day!
He still can if you ask me
Did you not know that?
He just cannot sing on stage that well like in the save space of the studio. He gets nervous after all these years on stage
Still can
He was much better live as well. In 1970 he sounded better than on the record imo
When he said “people say my mind’s all things with things that you can’t see me now” I really felt that.
I cant unhear this version now
0:42 his nod confirms what we both know. That "smile into my face" was top notch
Ozzys voice sounds so great raw.
everybody gangsta, till Gabe Newell shows us the original vocal track of paranoid.
Hahaha broo!
Wtf. R. U. Talkin about wanting to be gangsta. On a rock n roll. Session. What r. U. 18. Go put back on ur hip hop. U fool
he really did have a good unique voice. as he nears 70 alot of that magic has kinda gone. but that's life.
yeah really! who in the hell can sing as good at 70 as they did when they were young?!
@@youtoo2233 just have a look at how Dio's voice aged
T1000AX Its Still there.
Shallex Ozzy Osbournes voice now is still Leagues better than Justin Bieber.
@@rustyrelicsfarm2406 Osbourne and Bieber do not go in the same sentence :/
That smile to my face part is so bluesy and melodic omg.
And hearing it come out of ozzy. Wow 😀.
Man, what a TREAT this is...ughh Ozzy is so human yet so God-like its incredible the love and compassion this man has.
This vocal recording is better than what Ozzy usually did so cheers to him!
Shallex Every live show
Shallex He’s always been horrible live just like David Lee Roth, what are you talking about?
Shallex Yes, those were horrible. Thank you for proving my point.
@@finediningandbreathing07 If Ozzy is horrible, you sing with Black Sabbath instead of Ozzy, let me see you scream your ass on the microphone all day.
@@VergilSparda69 You do realize that the band retired, right weeb? Also, I know my voice is dhit, but that doesn't mean I can't criticize singers for also having bad voices.
Wow that smile into my face was fuckin beautiful
those lyrics are very similar to the original version of Paranoid, which had completely different lyrics then the album version. the original version's lyrics had nothing to do with being "paranoid" and was about a guy describing his love for a girl to whom he lost his virginity to and was his first love.
They're just dummy lyrics - a melody guide to add real lyrics to later.
But some parts sound similar. So Geezer was obviously inspired.
I believe ozzy tried writing that n they trashed it n geezer. Again made it happen
Ozzy in 1970 was a phenomenal rock singer, right up there with the greats (Plant, Dio, Mercury, Halford, etc). Soon after, that all changed unfortunately. The drugs just destroyed his voice in the live arena
Ozzy is a legend in his own right, but please don't compare him with technical monsters like Dio, Mercury etc. Ozzy's voice went south cause' he was an unhealthy, unaware singer, with very limited skills. He could do one thing, wich he did extremely well.
Dont agree , Ozzy with pushing voice get better .
On master hes more textured and nuanced on Vol.4 same .
On Sabbath bloody sabbath , and Sabotage , hes on peak .
Very high range , Very agressive ( especially sabotage) .
He was always doing drugs they just hadn't had an affect on him yet
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahah
@@kimlarsson7259 you're right
He sang amazing back in the day
A lot of vocalists work like this to music that the band present. Riff anything that comes into their head just to get the melody. Listen back, pick out the odd sentence they like, then work out something more meaningful from those words.
Most vocalists prefer to be involved in the genesis of the music, they'll come the the studio with the chords, vocal melody and words worked out. Then the band flesh it out, maybe add a middle eight or bridge, solo's, starts endings.
I've always found the process of creating music to be fun, sometimes really hard and frustrating. But mostly fun.
I feel vindicated !! I wrote all of my songs that way, "melody first with lyrics of "ad lib'd gibberish". lol, this was great
wonderful!!
Why are you on my mind all day long I can’t think no more ,everyone is saying I’m mad cause your the only one I’ve had in a while, I love you but you don’t wanna see, I wanna see you smile into my face
If anyone ever had doubts about Ozzy as to being a decent singer (at one time), they really should go back and listen to Sabotage. That was peak Ozzy...
The creative process in it's most spontaneous form.
Hilarious lyrics! Great video. Good thing that didn't make the final cut!
"WTF is this cat babbling about?"
.....Albert Einstein....
This is so good and amazing he was a good singer before his voice messed up
I really think people don't give him enough credit for what he has done

Ain't nothing wrong with this! Thanks for sharing!
Sounds like an AI’s recreation of the song
Sempre achei que essa música ficaria muito melhor sem tantos efeitos na voz do Ozzy, essa época foi o auge da voz dele
sounds like when you just keep clicking the buttons above your keyboard on iphone.
OZZY FUKKEN RULEZ MAN! ! !
This is why I tell anyone who says Ozzy wasn't talented to follow in the footsteps of Kurt Cobain. Ozzy was extremely talented, but ahead of his time, and while I don't think the other members were malicious about it, I do thing they snubbed him a bit and stiffled his creativity. Ozzy's ideas seem a lot more abstract and less cohesive and gives it almost a feel reminiscent of 90's metal and I really wish in his solo career he let himself write his own lyrics more. I mean it should say something about his creativity and raw talent that even after being nerfed into having others write his own lyrics and nerfed by heavy drug use, he's still widely regarded as one of the best metal musicians. Too many people say Ozzy is overrated and not enough say he is underrated, because his whole damn career he was held back from his full potential because it didn't "vibe" with everyone elses vision.
Its like hes singing in tonges.
He has a way with words lol
Охуенно..
Sounds like a Beatles vocal melody
What in the hell was that. So glad they made better lyrics for that
PAPAW FOX He was making up words for the melody
No autotune and still better than vocals from nowadays music
No
And thats how you make millions folks
I never heard that Gabe Newell worked with Ozzy before.
No is the letter o yes?
What's the matter with this guy when his faceing smileing face changes at the end .
Ну слышно же что это запись с репетиции.
У нас в России про витаса такая же хрень была.
I feel like he got *too much* credit in his solo career (the songwriters had to take legal avenues to get proper credit for their contributions), but because of that pendulum has swung in the completely opposite direction and now people think he didn't do *anything* as it relates to the music.
Haha! Sex on the brain!
The beta lyrics sound like an AI generated the lyrics
He got real lucky period it was the brilliant guitar and drum performances that carried his ass.
Nah, they were all great. Listened to DioSabbath once and never again
