Nice work, a few tips if you can get access to the back of the welds on the quarter mate use a hammer and dolly to take the warping out and straighten it up a little. only try grinding on the welds too, so you're not taking any meet from the good metal and use cold air to cool the panel while grinding. Im doing the same on a nova so I know how you feeling 😅😅😅
Cheers Dave! I’ll give that a go when it comes round to getting it ready for filling and painting etc. Thankfully the majority of the warping is at the further end where I can get access so fingers crossed i can get most of it out :)
Nice job. Quarter panel replacement is tricky on any car but especially on these Honda and the similar Rover 200/400 because the thin steel. Planishing will remove some of the distortion or 'valley' along the seams but since MIG welds are very hard, the metal can split if it's worked too much. Better off having a bit of a valley and using a bit of filler to level it out.
Nice job, Joe! I have a VTi hatch that has the same wheel arch problems. Seeing you fix this with minimal experience but with a ton of patience gives me the courage to fiinally tackle this as well! Subbed :)
Cheers! Yes Patience is key when it comes to this sort of stuff, having not done wheel arches before it took me a while but i had to make sure it was all lined up and right before i went to weld it on. Best of luck with your Hatch!
"Slightly out on the lip", man, it's insane the similarity between the MB Honda and the Rover 45/400 and the MG ZS, got any history info? Great work though!
