I am a Londoner but I think doing a focus on areas in London is a good idea. Allows visitors to get a feel of local/residential London (outside of tourist traps) and a flavour of other areas in London for those who don't venture north or south of the river.

Gosh you make SB look so glamourous and clean. SB has gradually gone down since the uprise of Westfield - the market has suffered since it's launch, but still, very vibrant and edgy. Ex-local.

    • @Ful12344
      @Ful12344 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

My thoughts exactly. I've always believed Westfield has destroyed SB. Had you filmed early evening you would get a completely different feel of what living in SB is like now. I've lived here for over 40 years so can safely say I've seen the changes.

Haha, it's true. The video didn't really capture the true SB atmosphere.

Rubbish. Houses in this area start at 1 million plus, it has not gone downhill at all. You are correct about the market though, Westfields has killed it. The area is undergoing gentrification, the posh lot from Holland park and Notting hill are moving in. I have seen so many normal families, in particular minorities, on my road move out and snotty nosed individuals move in. I have lived here for over 40 years and for me this video did not do the area justice.

    • @kaieteurjohn8133

I meant the market has declined and yes I know house prices have shot up and the hob-knobs are taking over.

Hey Jess, another great video. I really appreciate all the work you put into doing these. One small suggestion for you to consider: put up a map at the beginning showing us the area of London you're talking about. Otherwise, I have no idea where you are (is it north? east? west? where are you???). I know I can Google "Shepherd's Bush London" and find it myself but it would be nice to have that info up front. Just a suggestion, take it for what you paid for it, lol. Thanks!

I'm from Puerto Rico and I went to to London on October 2018. I stay at an Airbnb on Shepherd's Bush and it was amazing. There's 2 train station close to my Airbnb. There are a lot of stores and places to eat. Very friendly neighbor and I felt secure. I took the train everyday to go to Central London and it was very easy. I felt like a local. Very recommended neighbor.

I love that you spotlighted Shepherd’s Bush! My wife and I rented a flat for two weeks immediately behind Westfield Shopping Center and the tube station. Prior to our stay we were a bit guarded about what the experience would be like but it was wonderful! Our flat was on a quiet little street that felt almost like being in the country (hard to believe given its location) and all it took was a walk to the end of the street to find a wild lively and incredibly diverse neighborhood! There are so many wonderful areas of London to visit and while people are always quick to visit the other more “trendy” Instagram-able ones, Shepherd’s Bush is a wonder to itself!

Some incredible restaurants in this area. Red Sea for Ethiopian, Abu Zaad and Ayam Zaman for middle eastern/Syrian, and Wild Thyme cafe has an awesome brunch. Not too far from here is Happy Sky bakery, a yummy Japanese bakery with all sorts of unique treats.

Shepard's Bush, among the other areas filmed for us, seems lovely. One thing I have yet to see though is much, if you'll forgive, love IN London, for people with alternative mobility needs among other things. Very sad in at least two ways.

Timmy Stauffer hi Timmy, Hannah has a great video about her experience in London as a disabled person. I would recommend watching that. Visit London also has a ton of great resources for people with accessibility needs, much better than anything I could cover. You can easily find them by Googling.

We stayed at the shepherds bush hotel, super cute, loved staying there. Tried to go defectors weld for sunday roast, but no kids allowed, so bummed. So we went to a Mexican restaurant in Westfield- so good.

Ta muchly for this! I'm moving to London in April and will start looking for a flat in mid-February. I'm considering Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith so this is helpful. I took a short walk through SB in June 2019 but I didn't go too far. I just wanted to get my "gut instinct" on the district.

This is such a great video. I love that you teamed up with Hannah for this video. Great and nice and I like mostly that you focused on a local area so that people can see what the area has to offer. Please do more of these as they are very informal. Shepherd's Bush is wonderful and so much to see and do. I've been to the marker, Westfield London ans the other shopping centre opposite the station. Plus so many stations Shepherd's Bush, White City, Wood Lane and Shepherd's Bush Market on the Central, Circle and Hammersmith & City lines serve the area.

Sad they allow a pet shop. So many great dogs being put down in shelters. In the states now, many cities and some states only allow pet shops to sell pets from shelters and rescue groups. Unfortunately no all states have passed this law. Hope it will catch on soon.

During my family trip in UK, I have stayed in a rented flat in Hetley Rd. Shepherd Bush. I think for us a foreign visitor, staying in Shepherd Bush can help us adapting UK life since there are many immigrant's shop. Also for me as a muslim, we can easily find a halal restaurant there. It is also near to Tube station.
I have enjoyed your video contents on London guide, keep up the good work

Hello from Chicago! Love your videos.
Do you have any videos for what breweries in downtown London, Americans should try? Are they all cash, or can we use debt/credit? Any Brewery tours i should look into? How about any Beer sharing groups Americans can participate in? If not, can you suggest any? ( I know dumb questions. Just trying to fit in. :) )
I'll be there in a few weeks and cant wait to see what the beer scene in London is like.
