No. Of course, the R35 is ALSO Godzilla. The R35 won the official FIA 24h of Bathurst too like the R32 did, but *several times more* and the same race reporter / commentators called the R35 Godzilla with reference to the R32.
@@RiasGremoryS54 that's the thing. it's a reference. the R32 won every single race it raced on. the R35, it was strong at the start, but it was rather short lived. the R35 is more Fatzilla than Godzilla to me
Have you ever stand in front of an Nissan GT-R GT3? It’s a freaking fat car. Like the Bentley GT3. It’s massiv. Compared to a sporty AMG GT/Porsche 911/ Ferrari 455/458 GT3
It’s interesting how the GTR never looks much different in race spec over the various series worldwide. Meanwhile other race cars look wildly different with diffusers, wide bodies, carbon tubs etc. I wonder why this is?
because they were developing the race and the street version of the r32 at the same time. so it migth be that they decided to not change the areodynamically optimized racebody for the streetcar, probably besides the material. my first sentence is fact, the second one speculation
It's mostly due to it being built under Group A Touring car rules. If you look up most race cars built under that rule set like the 90's DTM or Aussie touring cars, they also look very much stock, compared to GT cars.
Group A regulations meant that they had to retain all exterior body panels to be identical to the road-going version it was homologated from, similar to what super touring would do in the 90's. All variations of the GT-R you see around the world are based on the original nismo version of the car, as was the case in 1990/91.
@TheFastAndThe Dead not really. Like look up the GTR on the 1994 JGTC. Those cars were sporting wide body kits while the main constructions of the cars are still original. So maybe those cars are the class of its own?
Too the fans who may not know (though most probably will), this car Godzilla caused the V8 5.0L in Australia which is still around today, because the R32 was that dominate.
Must be due to the dual exhaust system. Correct me if I'm wrong, but street cars usually have a 2-to-1 with mufflers and resonators that change up the sound as well.
@@miralemnermina142 Has a lot to do with the exhaust system and little to do with the turbos, equal length dump pipes off the turbos sounds very different to non equal length and they sound different to an aftermarket single turbo setup.

That ATCC R32 GTR is what you call a game changer, in the literal sense. The only thing as quick as the Gibson's GTRs in a straight was either Dick Johnson's Sierra Cosworth or that HRT commodore (VP I think). In the corners though is where the GTRs set themselves apart. As dominant as it was in Australia, it was also killing it in the European endurance races. And in Japan, it's still the most dominant race car of all-time.

@@ohwell118 I would agree, that is why the CAMS committee take drastic measures on giving restrictions to the R32s for the 1992 ATCC Season. しかも当時のレースさながらの迫力あるスピードでレース展開も再現してくれて、

星野さんや鈴木さん、土屋さんの勇姿がまさによみがえっている様です。
