  • Heading into a series of videos of algorithms, I thought I would make a video that explains to anyone, programmer or not, what an algorithm is. The basics of algorithms are actually pretty simple, as I hope this video makes clear.
If you like this video and you want to learn more about how computers do what they do without learning programming, check out my How Software Works book: vantonspraul.com/HSW
If you are into programming and want to learn how to solve problems on your own and really be able to program, check out Think Like a Programmer: vantonspraul.com/TLAP

@@vantonspraul ...How does algorithms "allow/permit" artificial intelligence to "distinguish" the difference between a variation/variable...ethically: consciousness: is arguably both: mind and spirit...
algorithm=algorithm... [i get your logic with the cards]
...i apologize if my presumption of what you explain of algorithm is not correct ...???

I created in my mind a bunch of invisible slots on the table, then dropped the cards into their slot as I somewhat randomly grabbed them up, and twice I made adjustments to the slots shuffling cards over, and once by adding a card to the end, creating an extra slot. Similar to putting them in your hand, but not the same. I used both hands to grab up cards, which is probably why I made the 'invisible slots'.

So I am not most people. I knew that. I would put the highest or lowest on the right the other extreme on the other and the middle in the middle and using both hands move all them to were they go or I would have moved every other card down and re arranged the two rows as they would be 1/2 sorted already.

Really nice if you can please make algorithms from begging in fast pace not indepth just super fast and covering as much thanks

I went from highest card to lowest because the position of the cards, matching cards closer together .

What do you mean by matching cards closer together? I'm trying to figure out if you used a method distinct from Selection or Insertion sort.

I,m righthanded so the 9 is on the left side and only one card beside it so it's more visible.
Reaching to the left take 9 jump to 8 , than 6and7 they are neighbours 5 and 4 /3/2 are left behind matching from right to left .
I hope you understand I, m dutch englisch isn't my native language.

Hey I won 6 of my friends 10 games to 0 , all with an algorithm I ran with as a child. 😃
