Not gonna lie, Magnolia hooked me extremely hard at the beginning, but the pacing was on a different lvl of bad. Enemy does everything Magnolia does, but better imo.

Not hating on your list, just making sure you’ve seen the following: La La Land, Whiplash, Hateful Eight, Kill Bill, Django, Banshees of Inisherin, Drive, The Revenant, Top Gun, Rear Window, Alien, Die Hard, A Quiet Place, Decision to Leave, The Handmaiden, Ford V Ferrari, The Dark Knight, Rango, Kramer Vs Kramer, The Prestige, The Sixth Sense, Bladerunner 2049, Nightcrawler.
I was glad to see that you put Barry Lyndon after A Clockwork Orange, and The Shining, and I was also glad to find Citizen Kane and Casablanca, so you can say Ratatouille is your favorite Pixar or animated movie? I loved to see Back to the Future in your top as well as It's A Wonderful Life, very good top 10, along with The Godfather 1 and 2, Taxi Driver, Heat, Scarface, American Psycho, There Will Be Blood, Blade Runner and 2001, these are some of my favorites too. It was beautiful to hear Satie's Gymnopédie no. 1. Akira Kurosawa is abundant on this list, didn't know his son made movies tho, gonna check it out.

I'm really glad to see Oldboy and Memories of Murder in your list. Oldboy is one of my top 20 films. And There Will Be Blood is also among my top 5 all-time favorites. Our lists have many common films, but what do you think about Parasite? For me, Parasite is one of the best films of the past decade and it's also in my all-time favorites list. By the way, what are your top favorite movies of 2022?
I love Parasite. I think it's a great film and certainly deserved BP. I guess I've just seen it so many times and it's kind of been talked about to death so I've lost a slight amount of interest in it; nonetheless, it's very high quality and amongst my top 200 for sure. I live in an area where I'm not really able to see many limited-released films, so there's a lot of films from 2022 that I still want to see. Off the top of my head, I really enjoyed The Banshees of Inisherin, The Whale, and Bardo. Top Gun: Maverick was a solid experience as well. I found The Northman to be pretty good although I feel like it fell apart a bit toward the end, and overall it felt tampered with (and I'm pretty sure it factually was tampered with). Men, dir. Alex Garland had great atmosphere but it seemed to be very divisive - I thought it was good, I guess. This may come as some shock but I wasn't a fan of Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, although I did appreciate its craft and ambition.
@@slobonmyfilmsnob Parasite easily ranks in my top 50 list. No matter how many times I watch this film, it always feels fresh to me. I am Indian and live in India. When this movie was released, I was 14/15 years old, and it sparked my curiosity and passion for movies and art. You can understand how important Parasite must have been for me personally. I have watched, read, and understood all the videos and articles about this film. It is through them that I have gained an understanding of this film, cinema, and art, and I have been able to appreciate them. You can understand that at the age of 14, I did not have as much knowledge, and all these articles and videos have been a great help to me in this regard Whenever I think about this movie, it still seems interesting to me. This remarkable film adeptly portrays the stark disparities of social classes, while eschewing any contrived or prejudiced elements. It delves into the depths of the human condition, exploring the intricacies of power, greed, and the flicker of hope. One scene, in particular, has etched itself into the depths of my memory is the secret bunker sequence. In this compelling moment, each character undergoes a profound transformation, oscillating between victim and aggressor. It showcases the permeable nature of morality in our decision-making process. We find ourselves justifying our actions one moment, only to embody the very villains we were meant to oppose the next, blurring the boundaries between righteousness and corruption
@@slobonmyfilmsnob And the year 2022 was a good year for movies, and better than 2021, in my opinion. My top 5 favorite films of 2022 were Aftersun, Tar, Decision to Leave, Banshees of Inisherin, and EEAAO (yes, I liked this film 🙃). I understand that you may not have liked EEAAO, but for me, it was a great experience. It may be overrated and not the best film of 2022, but it worked for me in terms of its overall absurd experience, philosophy, meta-modernism and self-referentiality. And I also found this film emotionally appealing, very creative and relatable. The film that I personally found overrated is RRR. Have you seen RRR? undoubtedly, RRR is a good movie (7/10 for me), but I feel people have slightly overrated it,I didn't find anything new or interesting in that film, except for its amazing direction, overall filmmaking, and craftsmanship. I didn't find the characters in this film very interesting, and the story wasn't as captivating. The second half of the film is kind of predictable and uninteresting, and even the main villain is quite generic. There are several unwanted cringy and ridiculous parts in it, and I didn't liked the climax that much,And RRR doesn't really say anything interesting about its two main themes of freedom and friendship, nor does it explore them properly. The friendship of the two main characters lacks emotional depth and a real and genuine connection, which made it difficult for me to connect with them that much. Additionally, the acting was not good in certain places.

A pretty good list, a few of my favourites appeared. Lots of Tarkovsky but no Solaris unless I missed it? His best in my opinion. I enjoyed this video,so thanks for making it.
Appreciated your list, especially "Spirited Away" at #15. Also, your including several pictures from the 1940's. Nothing older than that worth including -- no silents? Wasn't sure about the lower listing for "Lawrence of Arabia," I must admit, but to each his own.
@kelsowins if I was trying to be more objective, then yes I would have Lawrence of Arabia in like the top 15. I'm somewhat new to silent films - I've seen Modern Times and City Lights - and I really enjoyed them!
@@slobonmyfilmsnob If you like sci-fi, try "Metropolis" (1927), outstanding special effetcs for the day. But you've got a great thing going, starting out with Chaplin! So many awesome silents, it's hard to choose where to go next. Buster Keaton's "The General" (1926) is highly entertaining, amazing train effects, and he did all his own stunts. Have fun! Thanks again for a great list.

Pulp Fiction (and probably Reservoir Dogs) belongs on EVERY top 100 list, but the rest of his work ranges from niche to shaky. I do enjoy it all, subjectively. The film school douchebags' rejection of Pulp Fiction is unforgivable, though.
Enjoyable meander through these well chosen clips of your favourite films. Mulholland Drive at No. 1, that is interesting! I am definitely NOT going to argue over that decision. Great to see respect for Tarkovsky and so much love for Lynch. Nice to see Gattaca, Heat and Airplane, frequently overlooked. The impressive thing is that you appreciate a wide and deep range of films

It's odd when people list their favorite movies and there are so few comedies... Is it because they think they would look less intelligent if they added more?
I can't speak for others, but most films listed as "comedies" don't even make me laugh. Also, I have a larger interest in films that are able to inspire me to craft my own way of making films; there are certainly comedies that have done this, as the ones listed in this video, but generally speaking, other types of films just interest me on a deeper level i.e. mystery, drama, thriller, science fiction, etc. Now if I were to make a list of the films I've rewatched the most (some people would classify those films as their "favorites," but I don't), then the list would most likely consist of more comedies - mainly just really stupid ones that I watched throughout my adolescence, but I still find some sort of nostalgia-driven enjoyment out of them. Hopefully, that made a lick of sense.
@@slobonmyfilmsnobThe best comedies I’ve seen are ones not necessarily known as being a comedy. Banshees of Inisherin is by far my favorite. Just feels natural & unforced.
@@slobonmyfilmsnob Dude, I have the same problem as you with comedies, maybe I'm just a sucker for old Hollywood comedies more than the ones from the 90s, 2000s and early 2010s, but I'm glad you put Airplane, that film never fails to made me and my Mom laugh.
This is a lush looking video. I've noticed a lot of these top 50 snd top 100 film vids all having very similar formats. What editing equipment or program I'd used to collate all these clips?
This list is pretty boring. Don't get me wrong, these are all fine films, but the list seems like a generic "100 films to watch before you die" type of list. It lacks personality. Very few "original" picks. For instance, I liked the inclusion of The End of the Tour. It probably wouldn't have made my Top 100, but it's a neat little film and I haven't seen it on like 5 other top lists.
I also have a list of more-less 100 favourite films but I don't think I would be able to put them in order. Watched a lot of the films in this video and loved them. Great choice!

I know, it is your favorite, But i would take 10 and add these. Babel...Rocky...Midnight in Paris...Blue Jasmine...The Color Purple...Back to the future...Rashomon...Thelma & Louise...Alien...The Deer Hunter.
I never really got the hype around American Psycho. I didnt really enjoy it all that much. Ive got the bluray of blade runner, need to give it a watch. Got it for £3.50, an absolute steal Random question: have you seen Nobody with Bob Odenkirk? I watched it thinking it would just be a fun film and its now in my top 10 lol.
@@callumsmclellandI enjoyed the first half. Then it became cliche/predictable which made it feel generic. It felt original & mysterious in the first half though. That’s why I love a movie like Nightcrawler which was original & unpredictable throughout.
I didn't understood it either until I rewatched in Prime Video, and I always loved Christian Bale, you need to be dissapointed about the frauds of the system, thats how I finally got The Matrix tho I always liekd it.
I was asking my self : what the hell is he gonna put number 1. Tarkovsky ? Kurosawa ? Lynch ? Bergman ?😂😂 Such a very good list. Here’s my top 10 but first I wanna mention movies that’ll be in my top 100, Tokyo Twilight, Goodfellas, Persona, The apartment, France, Mother, Seven Samurai, Blade Runner 2049, Burning, An elephant sitting still, In the mood for love, Babylon, Harakiri, The deer hunter, Whisper of the heart, Ugetsu, Amadeus, Watchmen, 2001 a space odyssey, The end of Evangelion, Irreversible… and some others. So here’s my top 10 : 10. Eyes wide shut (Stanley Kubrick) 9. Long day’s journey into night (Bi Gan) 8. Climax (Gaspar Noé) 7. The Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan) 6. The Godfather (F.F Coppola) 5. Spirited Away (Hayao Miyazaki) 4. Winter Sleep (Nuri Bilge Ceylan) 3. The Godfather part 2 (F.F Coppola) 2. La La Land (Damien Chazelle) 1.Lord of the Rings trilogy (Peter Jackson)

agree with lots on this list, donnie darko, all the kubrick movies, though I would definitely include Lolita, Eyes Wide Shut and full metal jacket, for Lynch, I love Mulholland Drive, definitely one of my favorites as well, and also Love Wild at Heart, which I never see anybody talk about it, but those two are my favorite from Lynch, for sure. And for Polanski, Rosemary's Baby is amazing, he has some of my favorites of all time, like The tenant and Repulsion, both fascinating movies

I only have 2 movies to praise: 1. The lord of the rings trilogy. (the most beautiful movie of all time in terms of how they presented each scene. the very definition of cinema) 2. Kung fu hustle. Kevin Smith is one of the main favorites directors. 14 Watchmen (Snyder) 13 Kill Bill vol 1 and Kill Bill vol 2 12 Léon: The Professional(directors cut) 11 Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse 10 Pulp fiction 9 The Prince of Egypt 8 The departed (Martin Scorsese) 7 Forest Gump 6 Die Hard (quadrology) 5 Jaws 4 Terminator 2: the judgment day 3 Django unchained 2 Inglorius Basterds (Tarantino) 1 American history x However, to the list of 30 favorite movies I would add such titles as: Back to the future (trilogy), The Breakfast club, Gremlins 2 the new batch, Boyhood, White guys can't jump (with Woody Harrelson), Hunt for the wilderpeople (Waititi ),Titanic (Cameron),Spiderman 2 (Raimi),Groundhog Day, The Blob (Chuck Russell), Toy story (all four movies), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The hills have eyes (version Alexandre Aja), Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood (Burton), The Matrix (first movie), Heat,Brazil and Snatch.I hope I didn't make too many mistakes. Greetings from Poland BTW: I have a rather funny thing related to the Die Hard series. This series has been translated into Szklana Pułapka in Poland, which means Glass Trap. This was because the first film was set in the Nakatomi Plaza skyscraper. The Polish translators did not know that this film would get sequels. So the third part was called Szklana pułapka 3, or Glass Trap 3 in English, even though that title didn't make much sense.Secound part was trasnlated into Szklana pułapka 2 etc. Such a funny curiosity.
@@slobonmyfilmsnob Die Hard 5 is crap. Bored, not very interesting plot with the son, a colorless antagonist. I don't remember any scene from this movie. Many people consider Die Hard 4.0 to be a bad movie. While I understand their arguments, I really like part four. I thought the plot was quite interesting, nicely showing that John is a cop from older era, Timothy Olyphant is a pretty good villain, the supporting cast did a good job too (especially Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kevin Smith). Most of all, I like the relationship between John and Matt in the fourth book. Of course, this relationship wasn't as good as the one between John and Zeus (Die Hard 3), but it was still very well written in my opinion. So part 5 is shit, part 4 maybe isn't the best movie but i still like this movie.
Nice to see another one of these videos Gavin! Your last one was also great, but this one was a step up! Gotta say though, not a big fan of Donnie Darko.

great top 100 but missing Jaws , Raiders , Pulp Fiction , Boogie Nights , Full Metal Jacket, Empire Strikes, The Deer Hunter, Leon, Dead Mans Shoes , Stand By Me too name a few 😁
You have excellent taste in film. I haven't seen all of these but will definitely be checking some of the ones I don't know out on the basis of the overall quality of this ranking. Out of curiosity, given the use of Michael Nyman's music in the first half of your video, are you a fan of Peter Greenaway? A Zed and Two Noughts and Drowning by Numbers are two of my all time favorite films.

You have strange taste. Most of the movies are trendy & from the last 40yrs. Malik is pretentious. Everything with Ethan Hawke sucks. I know it's a favorites list, but no The Conversation? No Maltese Falcon? Bridge on the River Kwai? I recommend more views of Howard Hawks movies. I love the Kurosawa stuff, though.
Hahahaha Birdman just later than Andrei Rublev, what a joke, keep trying, this list is trash, and Scarface better than Throne of Blood and Apocalypse now lol, and you even though keeping pulp fiction away of your list made it better XD
I'm alway's disapointed if i don't see Fightclub or Pulp Fiction or Snatch or memento in someones list or eventop 30 at least ;s Specialy Memento is SO underrated almost noone has it on their list anywere even if you'd go to 200 movie lists , BUT x) We all have different tastes and opinnions, nicelist thoo , really started kicking up when it got to 30 x) And you did have Goodfellas my personal nr1 and Donnie Darko in this , Donnie Darko is on 15 in mine ) And mostly the real older movies i can't get into somehow , i'm a 90's Teen .. born in 1983 , so on my top 30 theres allot of 90's movies )

films i saw. 1. prisoners 2. marriage story 3. vertigo 4. ratatouille 5. home alone 6. birdman 7. the shining 8. harry potter and the prisoner of azakaban 9. ferris bueller day off 10. airplane 11. 2001 a space odyssey 12. back to the future
Pretty good ecclectic list. A good mix of older and international titles. For me though Shawshank Redemtion, The Exorcist, Network have to be on there. Also surprised there were no Tarantino movies. I also love the Korean thriller the Wailing.
another nostalgic list. I watched some of these "highly praised" older movies and some of them are actually good but others are trash. Yes they were good back then, but not today.

You can understand that at the age of 14, I did not have as much knowledge, and all these articles and videos have been a great help to me in this regard
Whenever I think about this movie, it still seems interesting to me.

Well looks like i am the minority but....this is one of the worst top 100 lists I have seen although I am aware it is subjective and opinion based.
Also I love the plot twist of blade runner being 2nd and Mulholland Drive being #1 damn best twist I’ve seen in years man.
😂😂😂

Another fantastic update with amazing editing. And that thumbnail funny as hell considering Pulp is my favourite lol.
Hello! I'm a big cinephile, always loved movies, and if you'd like to help me grow my channel, I've just made a video of my 100 favorite movies of all time. It would be a great help if you could view and like the video, if not, thank you for your time anyway 😊 video: th-cam.com/video/1VlYb0STwSU/w-d-xo.html
The list is good, but sometimes I wonder if you've watched Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglourious Basterds or Django Unchained...
He has but his pretentous impulses dont allow him to enjoy them, either that or he gets melted by the nigga word.
not everyone loves tarantino
@@jisun2695 but they should, cuz i read the news today oh boy…
Pulp Fiction (and probably Reservoir Dogs) belongs on EVERY top 100 list, but the rest of his work ranges from niche to shaky. I do enjoy it all, subjectively. The film school douchebags' rejection of Pulp Fiction is unforgivable, though.
@@ignatiusjackson235 A lot of people would disagree.
Finally someone puts heat(greatest movie of all time imo),akira and badlands
Yea, Sandra Bullock’s best performance.
Tarkovsky rules! So glad to see Andrei Rublev on this list.
Thank you Will!

Very nice list
Very good List!
No fight club 😞 it was literaly life changing movie
This is a lush looking video. I've noticed a lot of these top 50 snd top 100 film vids all having very similar formats.
What editing equipment or program I'd used to collate all these clips?
I edit with DaVinci Resolve 18 but I get all the clips by using TH-cam to MP4 converting sites
Please share the list I don't want a ranking just wanna see great movies

I know, it is your favorite, But i would take 10 and add these.
Babel...Rocky...Midnight in Paris...Blue Jasmine...The Color Purple...Back to the future...Rashomon...Thelma & Louise...Alien...The Deer Hunter.
Definitely Rocky.
Impressive list. I would have added Fight Club and Fury Road. It's so great to see someone putting Blade Runner so far up top. Also PTA's The Master.
I never really got the hype around American Psycho. I didnt really enjoy it all that much.
Ive got the bluray of blade runner, need to give it a watch. Got it for £3.50, an absolute steal
Random question: have you seen Nobody with Bob Odenkirk? I watched it thinking it would just be a fun film and its now in my top 10 lol.
I thought it was okay. Not entirely my thing
@@slobonmyfilmsnob I loved the cast more than anything, probably blinded by my love of Christopher Lloyd and Bob Odenkirk haha
Tarkovsky ? Kurosawa ? Lynch ? Bergman ?😂😂
Such a very good list. So here’s my top 10 :
10. Eyes wide shut (Stanley Kubrick)
9. Long day’s journey into night (Bi Gan)
8. Climax (Gaspar Noé)
7. The Dark Knight (Christopher Nolan)
6. The Godfather (F.F Coppola)
5. Spirited Away (Hayao Miyazaki)
4. Winter Sleep (Nuri Bilge Ceylan)
3. The Godfather part 2 (F.F Coppola)
2. La La Land (Damien Chazelle)
1.Lord of the Rings trilogy (Peter Jackson)
Fantastic list!
It's a good, solid list. Slightly bizarre in places, but overall it's clear you have good taste. Well done!
I can't understand how it's possible to categorise so many movies
I really dig your list man. Gives me a lot new movie recommendations to watch. Much appreciated

yooo, love it man. Is Akira new to your list? it's an amazing film glad I saw it here
Also Donnie Darko! was My favorite film for a long time.
Yea I watched Akira later last year. Thanks!
Yea I agree both Akira and Donnie darko are on my top 100. Donnie darko is starting to become one of my all time favorites

But where is PULP FICTION ?
agree with lots on this list, donnie darko, all the kubrick movies, though I would definitely include Lolita, Eyes Wide Shut and full metal jacket, for Lynch, I love Mulholland Drive, definitely one of my favorites as well, and also Love Wild at Heart, which I never see anybody talk about it, but those two are my favorite from Lynch, for sure. And for Polanski, Rosemary's Baby is amazing, he has some of my favorites of all time, like The tenant and Repulsion, both fascinating movies

It’s only a matter of time before Mulholland Drive parks itself in the No. 1 spot.
Come and See, 12 years a Slave, Waterloo, Excalibur, Shame, Boyz in the Hood, Malena, The French Connection, A Bridge to Far, Spartacus, Some like it Hot, Metropolis, M
recently watched Some Like It Hot. I loved it!
What About INTERSTELLAR Yoooo!!!!!!!
I'm not a fan, overall. It certainly has great qualities, though. I get why people love it.
I only have 2 movies to praise:
1. The lord of the rings trilogy. (the most beautiful movie of all time in terms of how they presented each scene. the very definition of cinema)
2. Kung fu hustle. Can't really explain it. But i think you'll understand after you've watched it. (don't watch the dubbed version). This movie is pure fun and entertainment
Mia Wallace is better than all of these...
Nah
@@slobonmyfilmsnob I was saying something factual, your input is meaningless…

Thank you!
I would add Papillon to any list of bests. Check it out.
Hi Great list I'm 16 years old and I love movies since I can remember. I want to be a director and screenwriter in the future. I've seen over 1200 movies in my lifetime. And this is my list of 15 favorite movies of all time. The list is still growing, but for now it looks like this: 15 View Askewnivers (Clerks,Mallrats ,Dogma,Chasing Amy,Jay and Silent Bob stirke back,Clerks 2,Jay and Silent Bob reboot,Clerks 3) and just love this universe. Kevin Smith is one of the main favorites directors.
14 Watchmen (Snyder)
13 Kill Bill vol 1 and Kill Bill vol 2
12 Léon: The Professional(directors cut)
11 Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
10 Pulp fiction
9 The Prince of Egypt
8 The departed (Martin Scorsese)
7 Forest Gump
6 Die Hard (quadrology)
5 Jaws
4 Terminator 2: the judgment day
3 Django unchained
2 Inglorius Basterds (Tarantino)
1 American history x
However, to the list of 30 favorite movies I would add such titles as: Back to the future (trilogy), The Breakfast club, Gremlins 2 the new batch, Boyhood, White guys can't jump (with Woody Harrelson), Hunt for the wilderpeople (Waititi ),Titanic (Cameron),Spiderman 2 (Raimi),Groundhog Day, The Blob (Chuck Russell), Toy story (all four movies), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The hills have eyes (version Alexandre Aja), Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood (Burton), The Matrix (first movie), Heat,Brazil and Snatch.I hope I didn't make too many mistakes. Greetings from Poland
BTW: I have a rather funny thing related to the Die Hard series.
What about Die Hard 5😆🤢
Great list!
Great to see the Lynch and Tarkovsky love.
I need to watch more movies dayum, I've only seen 20 of these (the 20 I've seen were all good choices tho)
Nice to see another one of these videos Gavin! Your last one was also great, but this one was a step up! Gotta say though, not a big fan of Donnie Darko.
