  • In this video, Early American Coppers president Bill Eckberg breaks down the U.S. half cent denomination for those interested in building a type set.
The half cent was produced at the Philadelphia Mint from 1793 to 1857. It underwent a number of changes over the years and features many of the hobby's most iconic designs.
Bill breaks down each type in the set and gives expert insights into how the coins were made.
This video was shot with the generous support of Early American Coppers and was filmed at the 2019 EAC Happening, which took place in Dayton, Ohio.

I really enjoyed this one! I'm having a really hard time even getting my first half cent for my simple Dansco type set. Can't imagine what it would take to get a 1793!

Very interesting video. Who would have thought that the 1792 disme and the 1793 half cent would have come from the same obv hub?

Love half cents. It so interest to know we needed one when a day’s wage was $10. Also, I like the fact that they based the currency on cents rather than dollars. Ten dollars would have been one thousand over one hundred or 1000/10.
