The JTole Summer Jazz Workshop is a one of kind experience for students 10-18 years of age who want to study jazz or start playing jazz. It’s a two week program where students will have the opportunity to play in a big band, as well as in a small group. They will also have a variety of clinics focused on their specific instrument, improvisation, and how to practice in an efficient way. One of the philosophies of JTole Music is to learn jazz music as a language, because music is a language. Our faculty is comprised of some of the most accomplished jazz musicians and educators in the world teaching this concept and much more. Students will be assessed and placed in groups based on both experience and ability. More advanced students will have opportunities to play with professional musicians and other advanced students. Beginning students will receive the support required to have a positive introduction to playing this style of music. Our goal is to teach each student at their specific level and help each student progress to their potential. The workshop is in partnership with New Jersey Youth Symphony and the Wharton Arts program and will take place online via Zoom. We will conclude the two weeks with a virtual jazz festival showcasing the student groups with some special guests.
