    Thank you for the video. Is short and complete. In nature goldfish eat food that has 80% of water. That's why I soak dry food for 30 minutes.
    But I still have some digestion issues with my goldfish. I've started feeding peas daily, because of your advice. Hope I'll solve them.
    🙂👍🏻

    Thank you Jacob. You have most likely saved thousands of goldfish with this video. I currently feed my goldfish flakes but after watching this, I'm thinking about using pellets. Anything that doesn't get sucked up by the filter is a good thing. I think I will keep the flakes as a treat for them now and again. Great video and thank you. I've subscribed to your channel :)

    Great video! Very informative and well-spoken. I have had a couple of carnival gold fish that I didn't anticipate having for more than a year, but now it's 4 years later, so I recently upgraded the tank and added some new fish. I ended up with a cute little black moor that the kids and I love, but he ended up swimming vertically, face down after a few days, so I've been doing a ton of research on treating him. Your fish are absolutely gorgeous!

  • @CyhAnide

    My goldfish hate peas, so I give them duckweed every few feedings to keep them regular. They'd clear an entire pond if they had the chance. Even better, some fish stores will happily use you as an excuse to get rid of duckweed for free.

    Thank you. That's great advice. I didn't know that about peas and I didn't know that eating from the top was bad. They usually wait for the flakes to sink but have gone up and taken them from the top a few times (I've only had them for a few days). Hope they'll be ok.

    I recommend raw, frozen peas that you thaw, then take the skins off. The fish don't do as well on soaked split peas. I feed my fish peas every day. Each fish can eat one or two peas at a time. Return in five minutes and feed them again. I keep a pound of frozen peas in the freezer and take out only a small amount every day.

  • @bananaborz1
    @bananaborz1 11 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    That was amazing advice! I've been feeding my goldfish a pea everyday and she acts so much happier and rushes to the peas.
    Also wondering, is peas just for goldfish or can you feed it to bettas and other fish like guppies and tetras? Probably not since I feel like guppies and tetras are too small to eat whole peas :O

    I cook my peas for 5 mins 😅At that point, you can deshell them much faster. You just lightly squeeze them between your fingers. I find that my goldfish enjoy them mushy. They are also digested faster. Have you tried Emerald Entree? Mine go nuts for the stuff😊

    hey jacob. i have a question still: i have small goldfish and everywhere they say something different: for sure not overfeeding. but how should i know when they have had enough? should i feed them a bit every day or a bit more every two days? what is best for their digestion in terms of rythm? how do i know the correct amount? thanks!

    • @tanishqsuryawanshi1276
      @tanishqsuryawanshi1276 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The best way to feed your goldfish is to feed them in very small amounts many times a day, just a pinch of whatever food you give for 10-15 times a day, you can reduce that to 5--7 with two pinches, hope that helps

    This was a very helpful video! I just got 3 young fancy goldfish and a few large snails to help control algae, the snails are too big for the fish to eat and they enjoy the pellets but I worry that they haven’t figured out much about the pellets yet. I think the store I purchased them from would feed them at the top of the tank because it seems to be taking them a while to see the food in the water or realize they can hunt for it at the bottom. I was wondering if cucumbers were ok for the goldfish to nibble on and the proper way to give them some if that’s the case. Even if not I do plan on getting some peas so ty for the informative video!

    Thanks for the good info, I have kept many cichlids before, from large jags and dovii to Africans to angelfish and discus. I never had success with goldfish ever, and I consider myself and advanced fish keeper and have been in the hobby for 20 years. I've had luck with comets and koi, but NEVER fancy goldfish, they would always get bloat or swimbladder issues and I would give up. I am trying them again for the last time, just purchased 6 very nice Watonai, they are less compact and sorta look like comets but have much nicer tails. I will make sure to feed them peas this time often. Thanks for info and video

    My goldfish love green peas; they just go nuts when I put them in the tank.

    you could give black moor fish peas, yes, but if he is a baby (so not very big) then you really should chop them in to quarters or whatever first. I would recommend putting an oranda or a ryunkin in with the black moor cus they are the same kind of fish and while black moors are- well- black, you can get orandas and ryunkin in many different colours. :) hope this helped

    great info. the only thing I would have suggested was adding a frequency to the information. many people don't know you ahould feed your coldfish more then once or twice a day.
