    i like how your videos are pretty straight forward, question though, that fan connected to D9 is that the part cooling fan? if so, where do i connect the fan that's attached to the cooling fins of the e3d v6 hotend? thanks

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Allan Mariano the fan should be connected to the cooling fins of the extruder. If you need a second fan you can wire a second off the RAMPS pins.

    you seem like you may be able to help me with my next step. So, I have an anet a8 that I bought in 2017, its been a decent printer for me, Ive upgraded the firmware to the current version for windows. Also upgraded repetier host to current. I want to change nozzels to a 3 in one out config. Would I have to get a different board than the standard one? or would I add this ramps board to add 2 more motors?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's possible, but I would start with one additional stepper and then try two a couple of months later. Reason being a diamond printhead is difficult to master. Also the Marlin firmware has changed a little since this tutorial was made. The concept should be close. Ramps 1.6 with a Arduino Due might work better.

    Hello
    I need your help please, my RAMPS enters the 12v through the source but does not connect it nor the MEGA (no LED lights up), when I connect via USB there both alloys, but it does not have enough "force" to move the motors. Strange that the first time I turned on the power supply, I noticed that a red led from RAMPS came on, when I was regulating the tripods of the DVR8825 drive that I realized that it had no power. I measured with a multimeter and it has 12v in the thermal fuses (yellow), from then on I could not look more.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, lets break down he problem. Are you saying the motors (NEMA17) do not turn? Or are you saying there is an issue with USB not being functional? What measurements for voltage are you seeing for 12 volts and where? If you feel better posting you question in your native language, I might be able to understand your question better. My understand of the problem seems to be your motor are not turning and it appears you think we might have an issue with the RAMPS 1.4 board. I would start by disconnecting the RAMPS board from the Arduino Mega 2560 and see if the USB to the Arduino is functional and will take a firmware load. If it does work I would then remove steppers (DRV8825) and reattach the RAMPS1.4 and see if the problem can first be localized. Then I would add back one at a time until I found the possible bad stepper. Remember to remove power during disconnection or connection of components. Let me know what you find.

    Hi, I have a problem with my RAMP 1.4 D8 output. When I press 'set' my heatbed is not heating up. But my D10 output is working. Do you have any idea how to solve it?
    Thank you.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Several. You could change your MarlinFW Motherboard configuration to EFF and hook up one or two fans to D9 and D8 and check to see if they run. I have a video called dual Fans th-cam.com/video/0W3VQpL0e8g/w-d-xo.html which allows you to check if the fans turn. If this does work, then it might mean your wires are not connected right for the heat bed. You could also use a multimeter to check if power is working. I prefer the fans to a multimeter as I like to avoid touching the system when it's energized (powered). Also check the seating of the pins for the RAMPS 1.4 as I've experience using a board slight warped that lose GPIO connection when they are not fully seated in Arduino Mega 2560.

    I want to enable the EFB configuration on my RAMPS 1.4 board. Is in a Prusa I3 Standard printer. How can i see or extract the FX that is currently on the board to check and adjust the settings on the new FW to correspond to my printer? I have connected a fan to D9, but it does not work. I presume the board is set to EEB.

      There are many factors to keep in mind with this board. First it usually only operates at 12V, not sure of the power supply in your setup. The best thing to do is join Discord in the link below and ask questions there's a lot of knowledgeable people in general chat.

      (M106)
      2. Extruder fan at 2pins in the ramps where it always runs as soon as u power the ramps1.4
      Thing is my E*F*B fan keeps switching off by itself in the middle of the print...and I always have to go to
      main menu-->temprature--->fan speed(0-100%) on my lcd.

    Hi Edward,
    Can you please help me with my problem I am willing to pay
    I am using Ramp 1.4 with EFB in Marlin config.h, but the fan doesn't work at all??
    from pronterface with M106 it's work fine,
    The setting in Cura ok also.
    Since I can't find any problem I am trying to assign pin # in config adv.h removing -1 and put 9 it give me error.
    What you think is the problem Please.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First does the fan turn on with, "M106 P0 S255"?
      Second does the fan work when tested on a 9v battery?
      Third, could you explain what you're trying to do with fan.
      And finally have you tested fan output for RAMPS 1.4 with a multimeter?
      Also if you desire you can tip on PayPal if you would like, but please not anything above $5.

      Is't possible that I need to change something in the Config.h
      or config adv in order to make them work
      These fans I use them to cool the filament it is connected to D9
      The J-bowden cooling fans work good it's connected to the 12V pin on the ramp 1.4

    Why do you change the value for TEMP_SENSOR_BED instead of Temp_Sensor_1? YOu connected the sensor to t1.
    How does the programm know that your temp sensor 1 is actually the heatbed?
    I am asking because i am wiring up the ramps board for the first time and i have so manny questions which step practically exclusively from the bad documentation of the ramps boards....
    I guess the final question is how does marlin decide which sensor out of the two xou connected is for the extruder and which one is for the bed?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's based on the boards.hh file. In this file is the defined configuration. If you watch my other tutorial I think posted before this one it will be clearer. If you're unable to find I'll post a link.

    • @metalmolisher666
      @metalmolisher666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I need a bit more help. Boards.h has nothing in it, which could tell me why it knows where which sensor sits, other than my wild guess, that the heatbed sensor is always the last one connected, so that puttign the heatbed sensor on t1, but actually changing values for Temp_Sensor_BED magically is checking t1.

    • @metalmolisher666
      @metalmolisher666 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well i know how to wire everything up and i just have to finally find the right datasheet for ym stepper drivers, which seems tob eimpossible - all from 0.9A to 2A ratings for the same kind of stepper can be found...
      But apart from that i know and udnerstandy the why an dhows behidn everything.
      Just the magic of the heatbed sensor reading are unclear.
      I watched all your videos regarding ramps, and i cant find anything that will explain it, and its not tob e found in boards.h temperature.h temperature.ccp and the likes.
      How is it that you first coonnected the sensor like this
      t0=extruder
      t1=bed,
      but in the software you specify
      TEMP_SENSOR_0= 8 for the extruder temp sensor you use
      TEMP_SENSOR_1=0 not installed (even though here you attached the bed thermosensor)
      TEMP_SENSOR_BED=8 because you use the same sensor for bed and hotend
      how does this work?
      How and where does the switching between TEMP_SENSOR_1 and TEMP_SENSOR_BED happen?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So could you provide a little detail ... Are you measuring output with a Multi-meter on D10 and D8? If they read correctly at full power when measured, then I would check if the wires are mounted correctly without power for safety. If you're not getting full power on Multi-meter with measured voltage I would guess there might be an issue with the RAMPS 1.4 board first and then the Arduino Mega 2560. Also you might want to measure the power on the cables from the regulated power supply. Remember to follow all safety protocol when power is applied to system. If unsure I can do a short video on how to check safely.

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bytes and Bots India When you measure what are the setting in Pronterface or gcodes entered? Also which test points are you measuring with multimeter? What are the reading in Pronterface. What version of the Marlin firmware are you using? Do you see any error messages in the Pronterface window?

    • @EdwardBraiman
      @EdwardBraiman  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bytes and Bots India Okay I understand the confusion, I forgot to add to the description the link to the Marlin firmware in order to flash the firmware on the Arduino Meag 2560/ Ramps firmware. Here is the link ... marlinfw.org/meta/download/ ... you'll need this to flash the firmware on the board using Arduino IDE ... www.arduino.cc/en/main/software ... Keep in mind you might need to download and older version of Marlin like 1.1.8 which exists on github. Hope this helps
