So many legendary characters. Father Hernandez is only on for 5 minutes in one episode and is unforgettable.
Adios, TED ( Moral Kombat Theme Music ) legendary TV.
Pat at 20:21 is my old History teacher from the mid-80s; Hugh O Brien. Great History Teacher. Great to see him in 2 episodes of Father Ted.
The other Bishop Brennan episode is "The Plague." Do NOT skip the opening titles.
No spoilers please folks
Oh yeah great episode. "Did Len find the rabbits?"
@@Malisane "What did he say?! Don't call me Lem, you little bollocks!"
Top notch stuff
There is also kicking bishop brennan up the arse
Can you do competition time
Fun fact: the guy who played Fr Hernandez was Freddie Mercury’s classmate and a member of his first band in high school
Omg no way! I love Freddie Mercury
Poor fella has alzimers for last few years
: 0 for real?
Freddie is the best oml
I hope that's true and not a Bowie tip ex legend
Loving your reviews, as you don’t interfere with the humour, and your in show comments are almost timed to perfection
The guy who played Father Hernandez also played Dr Gupta in Only When I Laugh and he was also in a band with Freddie Mercury when they were kids.
And the English voiceover was provided by the producer of Father Ted, Geoffrey Perkins.
NO WAY! From the first time I ever saw this episode I knew I recognised him and it's always nagged me, cheers Michael
'Translated' by producer-genius Geoffrey Perkins
RIP Geoffrey Perkins
Lol my gran was deaf but selectively at time. We used to always say vodka in a sentence to get her attention when she didn't hear and then she suddenly heard lol.
I miss the bright lights of the big city!! You were in Wexford weren't you? 😂
Love these reactions.
Father Ted was shown for the first time when I was at primary school. Friday night traditional watching Ted!
I wish i could work, "down with this sort of thing" and "carfeul now" into my daily life. This is one of my favorite episodes!
I went drinking one night in Limerick years ago and John kenny(the cinema manager, the host of eurovision) bought us a few drinks. The rest of the nights details are fuzzy but that was the highlight
It's absolutely hysterically funny that Ted went to Las Vegas on the child's Lourdes money.
it’s a part of my day to day life to hear “careful now”
I can't help but notice that Bishop Brennan at the other end of the phone is shouting "If you think this place is bad, wait until you see your new parish! Just wait until you see!"
13:01 Did you recognised the manager of the cinema as Fred the presenter from season two's A Song For Europe.
Good grief, I've watched Father Ted numerous times but never noticed that!
@alan wilson no.....it's Jon Kenny in the episode. It's Pat Shortt in the truck.
Jon Kenny he's part of a double act 'D'unbelievables' with Pat Shortt who drives the sewage lorry.
Finally I have been waiting for this episode since your started
Me too man I used to be the biggest father ted fan thanks to my father
@@Kingston997 was his name Ted?
Danny Dorko nah he just showed it to me first ahah
"The money was just resting in my account".
Those protestants up to no good as usual, my favourite line
To get the most out of Night of the Nearly Dead, you should be aware that the singing star in the episode, that all the old ladies are in love with, is based on the cheesy, Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell, who in real life is adored by old ladies. They queue at his home once a week and get a cup of tea and a photo opportunity with Daniel.
And some men. Daniel O'Donnell is beautiful as flip. His music is more funny than cheesy.
I live near that cinema where they filmed the protest scenes, its still as shoddy as it was in the 90's, but it has been closed for at least a decade by now. Its in Greystones, a town in the commuter range of Dublin.
In that episode they are probably taking a swipe at a real life Irish Bishop called Casey who did have a son in the states, a big scandal back in the day
Yes and considering the revelations years later his conduct seemed practically saintly!
What do bishops call condoms? Just in casey's
(Irish joke about the Bishop)
The Mainland and Flight into Terror are two really good ones that you haven't reacted to yet so looking forward to those.
I DON'T BELIEVE IT!
The Mainland is amazing but you really need to watch some OFITG to get the best of it
@@johnzerlel true and that would be a good show to react to. Which episode do you reckon. the one with the cherry tree?
The Mainland is my favourite, Ted was the best show
So they are playing a board game during the evening, then Fr Hernandez goes, in the daytime, and then BB arrives. So what time did he phone? I can't work out the timeline here. I watch this probably once a week but am always stumped by the timing.
I like that the railing is easily big enough for one of them to climb thorough so they dont need to stay chained to it, only each other.
A great reaction to a very nice episode!
After Father Ted you should look up Allo' allo' or Keeping up appearances.
22:11 if anyone is wondering, Gdansk is in Poland
22:12 Gdansk is a major port city in northern Poland along the Baltic coast.
went there last year. lovely city!
The man who plays the cinema owner is Jon Kenny who also plays the sometime intelligible eurosong host. Jon Kenny and Pat Shortt who played Tom in the 'I shot JR' shirt used to be a comedy duo called 'D'Unbelievables' which was popular around the same time (prob why they were asked to cameo)
I love the thought of them looking for a beach in Ireland to match California. Not happening.
...................How's the son? great timing by Dougal :-D
I've loved Father Ted for a long time and been with your channel for just over a year because of them. My favorite episode is Grant Unto Him Eternal Rest. I also just wanted to recommend Porridge as a show to do in the future, I love it more than all other sitcoms, and it has a great Christmas episode. However, some episodes do tie in with each other so I think its better going in order.
Those Protestants, up to no good as usual!
The hardware shop beside the cinema is called Brady's. I work with a girl whose husband has a hardware shop called Brady's. Mentioned the shop in the show to her and it's the same shop. It was filmed in Greystones. The shop has since been pulled down and replaced with a new hardware shop and apartments. The cinema is still there but closed many years ago. The scenes were filmed before the show was first aired and they had no idea what was being filmed.
Join and Mary were in episode 1 at Fun Land. Ted told them he was going to be interviewed for the television.
10:58 Ha Athlone! That's where the youtuber Jacksepticeye is from! It's also got the oldest pub i believe in Europe in it & Boy George owns it the guy who sang Karma Chameleon.
Ted: How much brandy would you like in your glass, Father?
Father Jack: 5:24
It's probably pretty obvious, but the context of Ted saying he missed the lights, noise and the buzz of the Big City, and then the reveal that he was previously in a parish in Wexford - Wexford is not exactly the least populated county of Ireland, but definitely one of the middle tier ones that is in no way in possession of a big city. The build-up would indicate Ted was stationed in Dublin, and even the Irish capital is no London or New York, especially then with a lower population (for context, the parish Ted was briefly in at the start of the racist episode was in Dublin).
And yes, as others have pointed out, Gdansk is in Poland. Which yes, that means some people were flying all the way from Poland to Ireland's west coast to see a film full of nudity that wasn't being shown anywhere else. Go figure.
As others have pointed out, Season 1 isn't up to the masterpiece standards of the next two seasons. BUT - it is very close, and these episodes are still great in and of themselves. For what it's worth, this is my favourite of Season 1, though a lot of that is rooted in the topical humour, both of its time and of the Irish, that probably doesn't 100% translate.
"It's subtitled."
"Jaaaaaysus...."
That pause from about 9:05 --- you know it is coming but they make you wait for about 30-40 seconds.
Mrs Doyle was only 35 years old when this was filmed 😮 (Pauline McLynn)
Blimmin heck, those earwax candles lol.
You are the best Taffe 316, thanks for new episode .
And Frank Kelly,, father Jack rip,, look into Frank Kelly's 12 day's of Christmas countdown it's a parody song ❤️👍
I got the complete Father Ted script book in a second hand shop for five euros about two years ago.
Where was that shop? 😊
Wow

Keep doing what you are doing Noah, I love your reactions to Father Ted. Keeping up Appearances, Are You Being Served and Alo Alo are some others you may wish to consider.
I think this is probably one of the better episodes of the first series. But series 1 is a bit slower and the show definitely peaked after the first series
Night of the Nearly Dead is a very good episode. I would like to recommend the Elvis impersonation episode for November
The only issue with the ending is that that film likely gave ted the power to go somewhere he actually likes! Hilarious episode though.
Oh I see what you mean - they could have all made the Bishop send them to great parishes instead. That is a point, but at least it meant the series went for lots more episodes, hehe!
This is quite an early episode (S1:E3). There was originally planned a love interest between Fr. Ted and Mrs Doyle.... apparently, none of the dialog was removed from the scripts - but the plans weren't followed through for that plot line. This is probably the most obvious episode that hints at this.
What? Where did this come from? Listened to Graham's commentary many times and he's never mentioned anything like this.
20:20 that's my old history teacher Hugh O'Brien.
The plague is one of my favorite episodes
Awesome as always dude
No Billy's is rounder at the top
Cheerio fathers!
night of the nearly dead and the whistle episode are the best that spring to mind, and the very dark caves
It’s so bizarre you haven’t done the old grey whistle theft and the mainland yet. One of these will be your favourite episode I reckon of the whole thing! They are absolutely unreal. So shocked they haven’t been done yet
I thought of that too, but my take on it was always this: Ted uses the tape to bargain not to be sent a anywhere, then asks to be sent somewhere better, Brennan tells him to basically go fuck himself, Ted tries to blackmail him again with the same tape, Brennan says that staying where he is, IS the only option, and if Ted shows the tape to anyone then he WOULD get them send to somewhere shitty anyway (as he most likely has major connections in the priesthood, even after he gets fired).
Then it becomes a sort of mini cold war where each side has a deterrence against the others attack, where Ted keeps the tape in case Brennan ever tries to get them sent anywhere in future, and in turn Brennan holds that fact over Teds head if he ever shows the tape to anyone.
That's just my idea anyway :)
"Is it subtitled?". I say that now whenever watching a non English speaking movie! Love it 😂😂
I think you should do "The Plague" next. That episode includes Bishop Brennan's most iconic line of the series.
You should react to The Young Offenders, a really popular Irish film and TV series. Just give it a try and if you don't like it, fair enough. Also, surprisingly I haven't seen anyone else outside Ireland react to it so you could be the first? You should react to the movie first if possible, but if not that wouldn't be a huge deal as there's not really a continuation of the story from the movie into the series
Yes this would be amazing please do it!!!!
The movie is better imo
But the series is amazing too
Great show!
The young offenders is crap compared to father Ted
Ahhh! I've just realised that bright patch on the wall is a light. I thought it was a window and now my life is a lie! :P
16:14 OH NO DOUGAL YOU'VE SUMMONED HIM
I would honestly say just watch them in release order of what you've got left. They're all good, but if you get the best ones next you'll end up with the weakest ones last which seems an anticlimax to a great show
O- Ooh , someone had a bit of an accent there when he said "kicks Brennan up the arse". This show is rubbing off on you my good man
Yes! I love the way he said “arse”, in traditional Irish fashion, and not the “ass” Americanism.
I love Father ted 💗 Mr blobby scared the crap out of me😂
Night of the nearly dead is hilarious Noah excellent choice
12:52 God i miss the cinema 😭 🤞covid doesn't take away my happy place
Please react to the Only Fools and Horses special 'To Hull and Back'!
Miami Twice would be a good one too, Del Boy in America, perfect for Noah
@@oldskoolfool141 Oh yes! I forgot about that one. Both are so funny. I hope Noah gets to see the episode where Del falls through the bar and one with the chandelier :D
This was a greta reaction! I am so glad father ted makes you laugh!
I enjoyed that one cant remember watching it before thought it was fracking funny. My favorite is still to come you will jump for joy over it. Can't wait for that.
5:24 is the first time ove actually heard Jack speak properly haha
04:08 I remember playing a game of Cluedo after about 14 years hiatus, but forgot you could accuse your own character which resulted in an analysis that, to all intents and purposes, suggested the butler did it. XD
28:19 The outcome of the protest movement in this episode reminds me of how Wallace & Gromit got through to the US TV scene. Know of any news archives from then?
The protect is based on what happened at the Cork Film Festival with the Last Temptation of Christ.
I've just turned 24 and live in the UK. This is the old and true style of being a funny Britain's and this is one of the reasons why we have good bater 😊👍 watched this when I was a child. Rip
Master batur
😂😂
I used to live in Athlone as a kid🤣didn't see Jack lmao
John and Mary were in episode 1
Night of the Nearly Dead for Halloween!!!! Awesome choice, Noah
I like the thumbnail who made that? :)
Are we getting anymore Fr.Ter reactions Taffe??....
How about “Mainland” episode, by far one of the best!!
We not gonna talk about the thumbnail?
Nuns are people too
And imagine sitting on that fertility statue by accident 😲
Suuuuuure, it was an ''''accident'''
For Christmas episodes can I suggest 'Bottom' episode 'Holy' and 'The Detectives' episode 'Ticker Than Water'
Bottom Xmas has been done. It's on Noah's Veoh page
@@chrisduncan5842 ah awesome, cheers pal
I second the Detectives. Brilliant series, massively underrated and the Christmas Special (Thicker than Water) is on TH-cam 👍🏻
@@jen6879 absolutely, I loved the detectives. The naming second names of football teams episode is still one of my fav eps of anything, carrot and Powell were awesome together, had a dumb and dumber type chemistry
23:41was another reaction I liked in slow mo.
Gdańsk is a city in northern Poland, thought you would like to know since you asked. This is so funny because if it happened in real life that the Church had a protest like this, a lot of people would go to it. Can you do the Airplane episode next?
20:06 , I was in the middle of breakfast
3:22 You were only supposed to laugh three times!
Thats actually a real cinema 🙄😂we used to go there....
Greystones Co Wicklow
23:40 Oh dear. He really shouldn't have done that.
Can you do Competition Time
Hey taffe316 my name is David and I really enjoy watching your channel. I noticed that you enjoy watching old school British comedy shows. There is one that you are missing out on its called Ideal. It's about a drug dealer from Salford Manchester England the lead role is played by Jonny Vegas you will know him from the TV series Benidorm Jonny Vegas plays Geoff Maltby the aka the oracle. There are seven seasons of the show. I hope you get the time to watch an episode. Peace out dude and keep up the good work.
2 a month would be great.
Are there any other Americans watching from home? I'd like to watch these while I'm away in the States.
have you ever give (Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps) a watch. not saying react to it but is another good British show. made just down the road from me. quite a few on youtube as well
Not yet, but its on my requests list.
splendid content I mean really
16:15 I love this reaction but try putting this in slow motion. It’s more funnier.
This is the Life of Brian parody
*Long, loooong pause...*
How's the son?
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Timing is PERFECT on Father Ted - and this is one of the best examples of this because we ALL guessed what's coming next.... but the delay, and the look on Dougal's face made it even more delicious when it came! Consummate, professional actors, the lot of them, for sure!
How's the son....
i wonder if Mrs browns boys grandma was based on the lady who asks about subtitling .. :/
No "good morning", no "hello", no "Hail Mary full of grace", nothing. He just sits on the couch 😕.
Boo Not Doing Father Ted At Christmas ! BOOOO Down With This Sorta Idea ! I Mean.. Thing .. yes Down With This Sorta Thing ! can't wait for you to see the title with women in the title
