    The green escape is my favorite Etsy plant shop (despite most of the plants being little starter plugs) they really have a great selection. I always get the "winter shipping insurance" and the heat pack...I tend to buy houseplants in winter after the outdoor garden has been cleaned out and cleaned up.

      Yes they are great for reasonably priced smaller plants. For more rare plants though I prefer other smaller shops however!

    Nice haul. For sectoral variegated plants, I only buy plants where they post a picture of the plant you will receive. It will be interesting to see how the peace lilies grow out.

    Kaylee Ellen also got me to put the b.o.f. on my list, there's a seller from Florida with reasonable prices now but I have to wait until spring as it's also been too cold for plant mail here in Pa 💚

    I suggest a Philodendron Orange Princess for sure. I got my starter plant (not from them though) and I have it growing out in the green house. It will be a popular plant.

      I actually saw your starter plant on FB! It was a beauty!! Most I see are rather poorly variegated, if I see one like yours though I’ll be hopping on it!

    Man those are cool!!!! Just bought a staghorn fern as well..can't wait to get it mounted and see it grow! I've been waiting to order plants as well..just worried about the cold ! I grow variegated ginger outside..one of my favorite plants..blooms are beautiful and smell great!
    Can't wait to see the Homalomena grow. It's on my wish list ..I seen one variety with orange in the variegation..
    Like colors other than just white!

    Hey! 👋 just found your channel. I think The Green escape is a hit or miss and once I’ve added everything to my cart I don’t feel like it’s a good enough deal to not know the size or variegation you’ll get. But nice haul and I hope to see updates on how everything grows. Take care!

    Nice haul & an enjoyable video to watch. 🙂
    I haven't bought plants via the post for about 18 months now after an awful experience but I think I'll take the plunge back into it again soon!

      Most of the time it works out fine but every now and then it’s not a good experience. But I live in the middle of nowhere so it’s about my only option!

    The packaging from Green Escape is great, but I'm with you on the unpacking part being a pain. I broke off leaves on Althernathera trying to free it.
    Don't know if you check them often, but they just listed a new variegated Spathiphyllum called Mint. I'm not really into the "mint" plants but maybe you are. Also I would recommend the Aglaeonema rotundum, the pink striping on the leaves is there even on very young plants. I recently bought one and can't believe I didn't buy it before.

    Those peace lilies are going to get gigantic. I have the regular one. By the way some of those little plants come with those little fabric plugs. I would pull that off

    Hey Jesse, nice haul! I freaking love platyceriums, but it is so hard to find and so expensive to import them to Canada. So I have been growing them from spores, and one of spores was wandae! I sowed 6 different spores and made 2 different hybrids in the December of 2022 and they all germinated and produced seedlings! The biggest seedling are already bigger than my hand fully spread out and I got a douzaine of them mounted already! My favourite so far has to be the ridleyii wide, they are pushing out their second “antlers” and they are just so alien and so beautiful at the same time! I wish I can show it to you!
    I transfer my seedlings to individual net pots with moss in a tote bin with grow-light when they are about 1 inch wide, I fertilize then with quarter strength fertilizer water whenever I water them, and I move them out of the bin and mount them when they get to 3 to 4 inch wide. It brings me so much joy to see them to grow into full plants from basically brown dust!
    I visited my local botanical garden today and they had two specimens of P. wandae in display! It can get so big and it is so elegant when it matures.

      That’s awesome! Growing from seed, or spore in this case, is always the most rewarding. Where do you get the spores from??

      Even in spring and summer, the big box stores up there don’t get them? Usually Home Depot will at least carry some potted baby Platyceriums, if not bigger, mounted ones, for a decent price.. the other day I saw small ones for $7.99

    • @northliu1196

      @@erikm8372sorry I should have clarified that I am referring to species other than Platycerum biforcatum. Biforcatums are wildly available here too. Other rarer cultivar are almost impossible to find.

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m curious, you said you ordered one begonia? Or did they say you had to buy two to complete your purchase? It’s very confusing marketing

  • @erikm8372
    @erikm8372 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I’m on the fence with ordering from Green Escape. Still never have. I do try to read as many reviews as I can before ordering anything. Apparently TGE people just want everyone to wait, bc they know they lag, they’re busy AF; when you finally get the plants, then that’s your “time” when you get your plants. Lol. Thanks, TGE. 😆 Which is semi-irritating if someone spends serious $$$ on them. Half of their reviews on Etsy claim that they answer or help immediately, while others have said no one EVER responded to their emails or DMs, and the orders have either taken forever or never even arrived. And no response, still.
    So I’m unsure about risking it. I feel like if I spend too little, they’ll put it to the back burner & it’ll probably take forever, and if I were to spend a higher amount, they’ll still just not care & it’ll take forever anyway. This is just based of reviews.
    But their variety of species is so good… Very tempting selection, and good prices… especially if you wanted only one plant! Oh, the caveat- you have to buy two plants! Can they be different species? I didn’t think so.. bizarre pricing concept tbh. If one plant is $20, for example, but you MUST spend $40 to “complete” and essentially validate your purchase…why not just sell bundles for a set price or something? 🤔 They’re very weird from what I’ve seen… looks like you got a lot from them too! Good luck!
    Also, they seem to dominate my algorithm and seem to be my ONLY suggested ads on Etsy. And I’ve never even ordered from them.. It’s like they have a fkn monopoly on it. Lol.

    • @GreenChickGardens
      @GreenChickGardens  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes they are very big in the houseplant sector! They have virtually everything. I don’t have to many problems with them. I only buy stuff that’s considered less “rare” though, and it’s always smaller so takes forever to size up. However, it is great for the budget and just getting started! I say dive in and try them out!

      I think it’s a fine place to find a variety of plants for cheap! However they are really small, and don’t have much root structure.
