Mark, I've been following your Self Sufficient Me channel for 6 months and didn't realize you had a 2nd one! I just love watching your videos! It gives me an outlet in life, to dream about the things I hope to accomplish once I'm completely healed from ovarian cancer. The chemo treatments leave me exhausted and on bed rest most days. Your channels are such a wonderful blessing! Thank you!💜

Always interesting seeing this side of gardening! We set our first vegie garden up about 2 months ago and last week we started noticing the amount of sound and life there is out in the garden now compared to when our backyard was just grass. Almost sounds like a rainforest now, its beautiful! Just today for the first time there was an Owl in one of our trees haha Another great video mate, cheers!

I sang that to my children I hope they still remember it. Love your videos... thank you for them..... Fascinating nature...

Great stuff Mate, my Grandfather use to do the same kind of stuff here in SA Riverland. Of course, there was no TH-cam back then, but even though he was only going out to either garden in the apples, strawberries or multiple vege beds that he grew for Nan, or just heading to the chook shed (a 4 vehicle old fashioned carport that he'd enclosed - they only had one car, he figured the chooks needed more cover than that did, haha).. He was always carrying around his camera in his pocket. The photos he took, he would develop later, and paint them. Goannas, Brown's, koalas across the other side of their old dirt road access, all kinds of natives. That was back before we had the ban on guns, and he always carried that with him too. He was a massive native lover, put down the feral cats and foxes on sight.
If a Goey wanted a couple of eggs for their days feed, he always shared haha. After he got it away from the chook pen of course, lol. I'm a long time sub to your original channel, but grateful that you're going to have a "nature" playlist on this one.
Thumbs up for 2021 ehh. 😍👍👍

It is fascinating to watch the wildlife going about their daily business. A few years ago I witnessed a kookaburra with a smallish snake. It had the snake by the tail and it just kept cracking the snake like it was a whip and no doubt eventually broke its back. I missed a lot of it because it flew off with the snake and when I finally located it again it was sitting on a branch with the tail hanging out of its mouth. It sat there like that for an hour or more as though it just couldn't fit that last bit in. It was a huge meal for a bird its size. Fascinating.

I live in Southern NSW. We have lots of snakes (Eastern Brown, Copperhead, Red-Bellied Black snakes) that are highly venomous but we don’t encounter them that much. It’s Spring now and they are waking up from their winter sleep. Let’s just say that I don’t walk around barefoot! I always think that it must be difficult to live somewhere like the USA with bears and mountain lions. Most of these creatures throughout the world know to avoid humans!

i haven't seen any baby eastern brown's in the past year or two, and a neighbor has a family of Kookaburra's nesting near her house.
    .
i saw an adult brown about 2 years ago, i went to open one of my sheds and as i reached for the T-handle i spotted the brown raise it's head to an s shape it was 1/2 a metre from my foot and was sunning itself on the blue dust beside the shed.
i told it how lovely it was and apologized for disturbing it while i backed away very slowly.
    .
i came back with a rake and it disappeared into the long grass, i keep the grass along that shed real short now.
we also have tiger snakes in the region, but they are rarely seen being nocturnal hunters.
    .
the brown's are a real problem, a few summers back locals lost a dozen dogs around the reservoir because they didn't keep the dogs on a leash while "walking" their dogs, Browns are daytime hunters.
