    Good thing you decided against going around the back side of Mono Lake. The sand is very soft and very deep. I have seen Jeeps buried to the rocker panels out there. I am glad to see this area again as you explore, thanks...

      Ditto! additionally, it would be really cool to hear something from Jen on her photography, techniques, motivations, etc. that go into not only Mondays with Monty, but also her current photo Project. this VBlog has really grown and matured and its great to see where you continue to take it. Great job, Chris!

    Wow! You're in my old stomping grounds. I was stationed in Victorville years ago. My brother keeps his humongous travel trailer in a campground near Mammoth the entire summer season. My favorite activity at Mono Lake was windsurfing. Brother Joe and I trout fished at Twin Lakes. My youngest brother lives off of 395 in a golf community.

    Somehow this needs to be said.
    A lone woman crossing the country teams up with a non-threatening man. A very pragmatic solution for the woman. They both gain in this exchange.
    This is Venture4wd. It is an adventure forward.
    Both of these people are on their own separate adventure forward with paths that happen to coincide for a brief time.
    Throw romance, real or imagined, into an adventure and it becomes a soap opera. I've noticed similar examples in the last 6 months. There is Ben Brown. There is iamjake. This takes men by surprise every time. (Obscure reference -- Dorothy Lintott’s compound adjective comes to mind.)

    from that entrance you can go quite some ways on beautiful roads till you hit any obstacles, i think heart attack hill being the first. our 2012 skeletoad sticker is missing its head the other below was from 2016. its definately a rough trail, the 4 doors go a lot slower than the the 2 doors, its pretty tight in places.

    If there’s mud on the road you can drive on it, you’re not going to alter the axis of planet earth if you do. You spoke of it twice that I heard, if you’re not going to drive in the mud on a road for whatever reason you won’t get very far on the Rubicon whether you come in from Tahoe, Loon Lake or Wentworth Springs!

    they make portable showers that bolt to the top of your rig and the water heats up from the sun ... you can pressurize them with a bike pump or your air compressor they work really well ... just a thought

    • @timothyrye1865

      We like the pressurized roof-mounted showers! That would be super-convenient. I do carry a Nemo Helio pressurized shower bag, which I love... it’s just been too cold lately. It’ll warm up soon and showers will become A LOT easier and more frequent!

    • @ricksandfort8836
      @ricksandfort8836 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I saw you dip your head and soak your feet in the creek, and was thinking I bet you wish you had hot water right about now ... cool video! if you're going to be around Reno for a while, I recommend the Atomic Bootlegger for cocktails and great bar food ... and tell Trudy I say hi!

    You need to get rid of the stock driveshafts yesterday! That clicking noise you hear that you didn’t seem to be to worried about is normally the front driveshaft created by the compound angle. The big problem is highway speeds, I’ve seen the results of people having destroyed the front driveshaft at highway speeds and it’s not pretty. TFC, trans crossover pipe etc etc! Warranty doesn’t cover it! Eastern Sierras are beautiful, during my nearly 62 years in Ca (before I escaped) I spent 3-4 trips a year up there beginning with my dad in the early 50’s. I haven’t been on the Rubicon since 2006 but have run it 30 plus times, you will enjoy it! Check out the Dusy Ershim trail on the West side also.
