- Just a quick video to give a quick introduction to SimAppPro. It is mostly a pretty straight forward program but I touched on a few areas that were tricky to me. I then go into showing you how to download keybinds from winwing's cloud service. I setup a quick Rev 1 version of binds for both the Joystick and Throttle so you should be able to download mine named "Russellm". I am sure there are some issues with it. As you find them you can let me know and I can update.

The mini stick in axis mode works flawlessly in DCS, you just need to bind in the axis section, not the button section in DCS. It works much better than button mode especially when you control the man in the loop missiles, much more accurate.
Greetings, I am going to try your method with my Orion 2. Is there an illustration for what button and switches do? Also my stick doesn't force feedback. Do I need to purchase the Winwing stick base for that?? Ty

Thanks for the vid! For some reason the X And Y Axis in your F-18 SimAppPro profile are inverted by default. It’s totally the opposite of what it should be unless you normally fly that way. Just say’n...

@@russellmm Cool! My question now is now that I’ve removed the invert, Will it still remain that way after exiting and going back in? I haven’t had time to test that yet.
Can the hotas run in dcs without ever using simapp pro?
Hi, thanks for the video. Is there a way to assign the Afterburner to a button the same way as the Idle Position. I'm preparing my keybinding for Star Citizen and the Boost button needs to be assigned to a key as far as i know.
I have the same issue with course and heading but also in the F18C the parking brake also doesn’t work. Pretty let down on that.
Holy shit… I got a new HOTAS Orion 2 F16 stick in the mail today and I’ve been trying for 8 hours now to keybind it. I downloaded your profile right when I fired the app and HOTAS up. (Before I saw this video coincidentally) I’m new to using a HOTAS and it’s quite overwhelming. Do you use discord? If so. I need help. I’ve been playing PVE offline for a year now and I’m kinda comfortable going online but I feel like I’m back at day 1… I’m gonna watch your video and hopefully retain some info until I’m off work tomorrow… If you have a discord I’d love some guidance..
So what are the switches at the end of the throttle used for? There are no circles that light like at the front of the throttle. It absolutely makes no sense for Winwing to put switches there but not place the circles and not give it any function.
The throttle is a replica of an F/A-18 throttle. All the controls would map to the same functions as an F18 in DCS F/A-18 module. There are some documents out there that explain the functions of those buttons in the real aircraft. I don't happen to have links to them right now as I have not been playing DCS recently.
My SIMAPP wont load any longer ... hmmm - no answers out there ? I guess Uninstall ?
BTW is there anyway to assign AXIS to FLAPS or AIR BRAKES?
Great video. Also note your background wallpaper image of Orion, Horse head with flame nebulae. This image yours??? I also do Astrophotography along with flight sim stuff. Funny if you also played music as I do multi instruments. Let me know. Thanks for the video.
yea, its an image I shot while in Death Valley, Ca Dec 2020. It is 20 five minute exposures in a Bortle 1 site. Nope don't play musical instruments :)
It seems like most aircraft are not available to RUN in the setup list ??

Hello, I have my own since few day, and globaly I love it. But I have a problems with CRS and HDG knob buttons that don't create a valid entry into DCS. The selector knob in the game vibrates (and return immediatly to center) without applying the actual input.
Any ideas ?

I can't seem to get IL 2 to see the Hotas
I tried using SimAppPro but that's not seeing IL 2...

Using the SimAppPro, can the Orion HOTAS buttons bind to keyboard keystrokes, e.g. Ctrl + Alt + E, W, etc? I fly add-on planes in P3D which have their internal custom keystrokes to activate certain functions, not available as standard key binds in that SIM.
I am not sure but there has to be ways of doing it
If not use Joystick Gremlin, a powerful keymapping software that work for any brand, and allow combine different brands of controllers in one "virtual controller" if need, e.g. for old games with just one controller support.

You completely skipped where you go in DCS to input those profiles you downloaded in the SimAppPro...otherwise pretty good vid.

@@russellmm Possibly, but if you think about it, you would need to tell DCS which profile you want to use and not want it to overwrite others...so I think the SimappTool simply saves the profile in the right DCS folder in your user profile and you have to tell DCS which one to use. Did it used to just overwrite your DCS controls on its own?
This software SimAppPro sent my security software into orbit. It triggered pretty much every Malware alert. Anyone else have similar issues? Is there a 'cleansed' copy somewhere? Not going to put a Chinese attack surface on my machine just to get this throttle to work.
i have simply refused to use the Software after my first initial encounter with it.
I'm sure they put a backdoor in this software (which they default to starting with windows by the way) and then upload all your docs to chinese govt. My firewall went nuts when I installed this and it was trying to connect to servers all over China without even clicking on anything in the app. I block all communication with China so it didn't successfully connect.
@@JSRJS Big question is, is there code embedded in the hardware, that we can't access? I am disposing of mine so no issue.
