      @@ProjectWildwood Looking forward to it! Question for you: Have you found the 2x6's to be suitable for the flooring? I heard using 2x6's can lead to squeaking in the floor boards, and have been advised to use 2x8's. This would mess up my plans a bit though, and wanted to know if you recommend using 2x6's. Since you have several close family members in construction however (and seeing that others seem to always go with 2x6's) I think they might be alright to use.

      @@schnibbler6085 No squeaking at all, but be sure to use subfloor adhesive on every joist. I do regret putting the joists 24 on center because the floor can be squishy in some places. If you do 16 on center I believe you’ll be just fine. There’s no structural reason to use 2x8 but if you want to pay more $ and maybe have a slightly stiffer floor, that could be a plus if it matters to you. You will lose 2” of interior headroom.

      @@ProjectWildwood That answered it for me. I really am grateful for this. Its a really daunting process for me, having no building experience and jumping into this. Would you mind if I were to email you with a couple other questions? Many thanks for your help.

      Did you get a 2 or 3 axle trailer?

    PS: How does your truck hold up towing your 28ft tiny home?

    • @ProjectWildwood

      Sold the truck back in 2019 and got a 4Runner. Luckily we haven’t had to move it since. We will be taking it to another piece of property this spring and will be hiring a tractor trailer to move it.

    Hey, do you mind if I ask you one more question about your trailer? I will be buying one this week from ironeagle and since I also have the same truck you did in 2019, I was wondering how long your trailer tongue is, and how long you think it should be for the tacoma to handle it?
    You would save me a hell of an issue, I would be grateful for any advice!

      @ProjectWildwood  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. I’ll have to measure when I get back home.

      @@ProjectWildwood I would seriously owe for that!! Think I'm going to pull the trigger tomorrow and put down the 50% deposit.

      @@ProjectWildwood Do you think about a 6 inch difference would enable wide turns with a tacoma without damaging the bumper?

    • @ProjectWildwood
      @ProjectWildwood  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So my tongue from the bump out to the center of the ball is 24”. I would probably recommend another 12”
      Just inquire with the owner about what is standard. They understand trailer geometry better than me.
      What basically needs to happen is the bump out corners shouldn’t extend much beyond the triangular rails.

      @@ProjectWildwood Thanks so much. are you happy with the ram jacks instead of scissor jacks? Does it keep the house from wobbling? I think I would like to follow in your footsteps there
