    jazzzz
    I was noticing the other day how easy it is to not realize you are playing upside down on this thing, then I realized how much my phrasing is oriented toward looking at the scales from the bottom and how much it changed trying to play the other way... hmmm... if I was any good at playing it normally I'd spend more time with this idea
    nice groove... always refreshing to see real talent on an electronic instrument, a lot of us are here to drown our sorrows in the sound of the sine waves at the absence of such skills

      Hi Wes! Do you mean playing it in “keyboard” position versus “guitar” position? For me, it retains the same relationship because I playing from the bass side outwards. Meaning the lower “strings” of the Linnstrument are closest to my body. It is possible to reverse the string order on LinnStrument to left hand orientation, but I think that would fry my brain! 😂

      @@FontaineBurnett Yes, I hadn't thought about the left hand orientation, but that would be synonymous with just turning the grid 180. I will have to play with this more, because like you said it really messes with your head, but it also quickly shows you how much a person constructs phrasing limited to one vector of approach.
      A lot of what I do on the LinnStrumment isn't what anyone would call music, it's more like a Pollack painting. I relate to it like a visual interface rather than through the language of known music. I long ago stopped learning music, forgot what I knew and focused solely on theory instead with an interest in mastering improvisation on a very primitive level.
      But I never had the time or resources to make a life out of my studies, so it's just an frustrating and expensive hobby for me.

      I had a Linn200 for about a year. A truly Killer controller, but never got as proficient as you, never even dreamt of had those chops....(probably because I'm actually a drummer) Great drum track as well, nice little grace notes and perfect sounds.....

    how did you learn the fretboard? I'm new to the instrument and I find I get stuck in one key and don't know where the chords are.

      Hi David! Well, I might have a slight advantage here since I have been playing electric and upright bass most of life. The layout of the Linn is basically identical to that of a bass…in other words tuned in fourths in its most basic configuration. Once you get used to the layout, you‘ll find that thanks to the isomorphic layout it will be very easy to move chord and scale shapes around to different keys. Stick with it…it will click in with some patience. I‘ve been very busy lately but I will get back to posting videos again soon. One of them will be focused on learning the fretboard and some corresponding ear training.

    Great vibe - Its inspiring to see what the Linnstrument can do under some skilled fingers.
    What keyboard sound were you using?

    How do you play it so well? Is it really that intuitive?

    • @FontaineBurnett
      @FontaineBurnett  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I find it to be very intuitive…Especially if you have some previous experience with other instruments. Although that certainly isn’t a prerequisite.
