I would say that with a new power steering pump not a refurbished one
and the scuffs seen to, you will have very nice long distance cruiser.
Never fit reworked pumps, they just don't last.
Even after a clean MOT this should still be a nice little earner as Arthur would say.

I would have gone refurbished, they don't make new pumps so the seals are already old! I did have one of these for 5 years back in the day - amazing car with 4 proper seats. Mine was a pre face-lift so was prone to more electrical gremlins. Still have a huge soft spot for them...

@@marklawrence2417 A very good point, any OEM parts will be old stock, and non OEM parts

They are a nice vehicle but I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot, sterilized, barge pole, because parts are prohibitively expensive and the cost of fitting those parts ie Labour charges are monumental. Those are a couple of reasons their value drops like a bucket of cement.

With later model Mercedes' there is a level of expertise required that is sometimes beyond the scope of many regular Mechanics. I would never take any vehicle to a Dealer because they're scam merchants that just want to upsell but if you have a mechanic with the knowledge and capability then go for it. Although, my point about parts, still stands.

Avoid Mercs older that 15yrs, it'll be agro. I got the JS2000, had a flat battery on a 1.3L car & it started with ease! Didn't even use the boost button function. Worth getting a JS jump starter, you never know! It's light, small & takes no room to store....lasts 6 months roughly before a re charge is needed to top it up.
