I'm a bit late to the game today, but I was only somewhat wrong in the last round. R1: Woodstock festival (we had a similar photo last month): North of Kostrzyn, German/Poland border, close to Road Polnocna. There are no smartphones, but some older camera model 2013 (same year as last time). (9998) R2: The boy is wearing fairly old shoes and a timeless coat, otherwise it could be rather warmer climate and the pillars might be Roman architecture. Hatching Forum Romanum, 1936. (9886) R3: “Long Live ANC!”, ANC-flag and large buildings: Jo-burg. Took me some time to triangulate it: Rissik Street about 50m South of Leyds Street, 1990. (10000) R4: Race track in Sao Paulo with tarmac: Passarela do Samba, in front of the main building of Sambadrome (I think I got lucky spotting it quickly). Many smartphones: 2024. (9950) R5: A rolling stone in 70s clothes: 1978. Driving on the left: London, wasn’t their studio somewhere in the West, perhaps borough Richmond? (8749) Years off: 0, -1, 0, 1, 5. Total: 48,583 R2: I was surprised about my this close guess! R3: - Cape Town does not have so many large buildings and you would very likely either see the ocean or Lion's head and table mountain, or at least some hills. - ANC just became legal in 1990. The location markers seem to be fine today (up to 50m).
1. I remembered this was western Poland, but didn't go west enough. 2. Wrong building in Rome, but somehow go the year right on. 3. Just plonked and was only a few 100 meters away, 5 years off though. 4. City is given, lots of smart phones, but still 5 years off. 5. I just saw the fachwerkhaus and assumed Germany. Luckily Europe is pretty small and you can be in the wrong country and still get decent points.
1) We have been here before. Polish Woodstock very close to the German-Berlin border. Kortszyn, I think it is. 19th edition, mmm, 2011 maybe (9,759). 2) This one also repeated! In the Vatican columns. What is going on today? pre WWII, 1938 (9,949). 3) A concentration against bigotry. Johannesburg-Marshall Street, 1986 (9,260). 4) Sâo Paulo is so massive city. Let’s say Avenida Paulista, 2017 (8,259). 5) Where is Mick? It is UK, but London? Not sure, that house does not match with London style. Scotland maybe? Edinburgh, 1970 (8,568). FINAL SCORE: 45,795 Remarks: - - That black, green and yellow flag (3) is the one of the “African National Congress”, the main political movement against apartheid in South Africa. - Now I see that building in 5) is Liberty London Department Stores.
