GG for playing fast, Du Da! My breakdown: R1: I did not have such a helmet or a vuvuzela, but I had one of these Bafana Bafana shirts: 2010, this could be somewhere around the fan fest or waterfront in Cape Town, but the building in the background makes me question this. As there is not enough information on the exact location, I’m going Long Street (one popular bar street in Cape Town). (9990) R2: Another place where I have lived. Gedächtniskirche seems to be in tact, Kudamm Berlin at the corner of Fasanenstraße (which probably used to have a tram line as well) *, before 1945. No strong signs of Nazi-Germany: 1933. (9800) R3: State highway 35 going through Galesville (24 miles away) and Prairie du Chien (66 miles away), US highway 53 running through Eau Claire (93 miles away). After quite a search: they are all labelled with white background plates on the map, and we are in La Crosse (I did not think that this was the name of the City over the music store). Corner Third/Pearl Street. The cars are early-40s: 1942. (9600) R4: Georgian flags: Tbilisi with pillar of the Freedom Square in the background, standing on Shota Rustaveli Av. There has been recent protests, but the photo does not look like 2024. Slightly outdated mobiles: 2015. (9800) R5: This could be in any of the cities on the bus, going central Bratislava, near St. Micheal’s Gate. The cloths and the bus look like late 50s? 1960. (8541) Years off: 0, -2, 3, 2, 5. Total: 47,731 * R1: During the game I used the balconies of the buildings to find some matches and I got the same wrong location. It is very hard to tell, because almost all the buildings will have been razed to the ground from 1943 to 1945. However, there are tram tracks going in all directions from this intersection, which do not exist today anymore, and the church is much closer. From an old map, this must be: 52°30'13.5"N 13°19'52.6"E All other location markers are correct.
1) I think this was the opening game (9,948). 2) From the architecture I would say it is northern Germany, but the key is in those “IA” number plates. I don't know, maybe Hannover, 1935 (9,257). 3) A gambling town, late 30s with French...mmm. This is not Canada. Definitely it is the US but close to the border with Canada I would say. Where is La Crosse? Lacrosse is also a sport similar to hockey, very popular in north US and Canada. Got it, Wisconsin, 1939 (9,997). 4) Tbilisi Freedom Square, 2013 (9,997). 5) Any city between Bratislava and Budapest. I would say they are arriving destination, then Budapest, 1953 (9,191). FINAL SCORE: 48,390 Remarks: - Extremely lucky catching La Crosse after checking all the north-northeast border US-Canada. - Now I read that La Crosse is an important brewery city, punished by the dry law in the 20s. Beer and gambling very often run together.
@@relander6459 the IA did not indicate anything to me. I looked it up and 'I" relates to Prussia and 'A' to Berlin.
@@duda3396 Indeed, I read now that ‘I’ for Prussia. Berlin, as the capital of Prussia, had the letter ‘I’. As the number of vehicles increased, more combinations were needed. Instead of changing the base letter, more letters were added, and ‘IA’ was the choice for Berlin. Other parts of Prussia also used similar combinations, such as ‘IB’ for Brandenburg.
I'm impressed how often you get the perfect year! I mostly get them within 5 years.
@@c-minz Yes, the truth is that I tend to have a good eye for dates, perhaps because of my age (50 yo). I think it is a mistake for TimeGuessr to penalise with so many points a temporary mistake. I mean, a difference of 5 years, which in many periods is insignificant, is penalised in the same way as making a mistake of more than 100 kilometres. I think it should give more points for locations and less for years, not equally.
I didn't think that this was a student fraternity in R1, but at least the city was given. In R2, I completely overlooked the text "Melbourne" on the ground and used the buildings in the background to triangulate. I'm not quite sure on the location, because it really seems to be rather the outdoor arena, but perhaps the roof can open up. In the last three rounds, I had pretty much the exact same approach (with the same year guess in R4). Years off: -3, -1, 0, 7, 1. Total: 47,089
1) Madison, Wisconsin? They are college girls so is there any campus in the city? Yes. 1955 (9,985). 2) Outdoor 1573 Arena, 2025 (9,998). 3) It seems to be a Liberation Day and “Wandelstoken” to be the main clue, but I do not know what it means. Anyway, this is definitely The Netherlands. Amsterdam, 1945 (9,552). 4) Could be any time in Havana during the last 20 years. I will randomly point the year I lived there, 2015 (9,950). 5) Devenport located. Chelterham Beach located, 1905 (10,000). FINAL SCORE: 49,485 Remarks: - Stupid of me, there is an area in Madison in 1) with all the students dormitories, and Delta Gamma fraternity is perfectly located on the map. - The location in Melbourne 2) seems to be incorrect. - Wandelstoken 3): Walking stoke ?¿?
@@relander6459 re 3) That probably means walking cane
GG today again! R1: Bush Junior at Ground Zero: 2001. The building in the foreground on the left has damaged windows, so we are very close to the collapsed twin towers or the North building (where One World Trade Center stands nowadays), in fact we must be looking at other buildings of the Trade Center complex (no buildings, but water (?) in the backgroud and the other buildings match), so we are at West/Vesey Street intersection. (9995) * R2: COP30 will be in Brazil this year (and we will see if it is the last one). So “COP26” means we are in 2021, which confirms the masks. After checking London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Sydney, Canberra, I found the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne with matching pillars, trees and the modern building block in the background. (10000) R3: “Forsiktig, døra slår ut.”, central station in Copenhagen does not match, neither does Aarhus, Trondheim. Bergen is close and Oslo could work if the tip in the background is from the Domkirke and the station used to be smaller, so just going with the capital. Camera equipment and old electric locomotive: 1957. (9800) R4: Swizz alps, venturing near Reichenburg. Cars with round headlights and typical 60s busses: 1965. (9528) R5: Smartphones and selfie-sticks, but not too modern, no masks: 2017. Russian flag on the police men. Moscow, near red square. (9781) Years off: 0, 0, 2, 1, -2. Total: 49,104 * The R1 pin is 240m away from the location: 40°42'49.8"N 74°00'50.2"W. I cannot confirm Switzerland, but the other location marker are fine.
@@c-minz nicely done. You definitely have more patience for searching than i do 👍
@@duda3396 Sometimes it does take quite a while ... not always worth it ;)
I also guessed Cannerra even though I didn't see the building with the stairs. Didn't know where else to go. I thought the text on the post was Swedish, but I guess Swedish and Norwegian are similar.
@@FigBug Swedish does not have the ø letter.
1) September 2001, NYC Battery (9,998). 2) Australia covid times. Canberra Parliament, 2021 (9,034). 3) “Forsiktig dora slar ut” in the train sounds Nordic. She is Ella Fitzgerald, then he must be Louis Armstrong. I see a Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) bag, but this company belongs to these three countries. It is weird because neither Sweden or Norway have too much train activity, and I do not feel Danish. I am off to Stockholm train station, 1958 (8,684). 4) No clues but “CH” and Sean Connery (I guess as 007). Randomly Gstaad, 1964 (9,552). 5) A riot in Moscow, Red Square around, 2018 (9,937). FINAL SCORE: 47,205 Remarks: - With 49,1 k I do not know how in the world could Wisdom identify the accurate area in Switzerland.
A complete fail on two locations and some mediocre year guesses for me today. In R3, I went with Houston. Then R4 was even worse. I could not decipher the text but was pretty sure it is Portuguese, which led me to São Paulo ... somehow ignoring that the people did not look Brazilian. Years off: 2, -5, -4, 4, 0. Total: 38,865
Wisdom, except for Figbug, I think all of us have made atypical mistakes today. Regarding differentiating Brazil from Portugal, if you see winter clothes, it can not possibly be Brazil.
@@relander6459 Indeed, in R2--R4 it was basically impossible to get perfect locations even if we got the city correct.
1) Red square. Looks late 90s. Didn't think this would still be USSR. 25 metes. 6 years, 8400. 2) Thai script, cars look 50s. 0 years. 687m. 9986. 3) JPL is were they do the rovers, in Pasadena. Porg means we are post 2017. 0 years, 4km. 9908. 4) Portugese -- Brazil or Portugal? I'll plonk Lisbon in the 30s. 7 years, 800m. 8383. 5) Korea, only see a few phones. 2 years, 7km 9670. Solid score for me: 46,347
1) Red Square, 1992 (10,000). 2) Is it Hindi what I read? And they drive on the left. Aliens Sci-Fi movies were very popular during the second half of the 50s. South India, Bombay, 1958 (5,898). 3) I know that NASA has different research centres: in Houston, Virginia and Ames (Silicon Valley) at least. I am off to Ames, CA, 2005 (5,900). 4) A bullfight in Lisbon in 1946. Areeiro bullring ticket office (8,832). 5) Seoul shopping area, 2016 (9,168). FINAL SCORE: 39,897 Remarks: - On the Lisbon sign it is written “1946”. Anyway, two bad ones: location in Thailand and year in NASA (I completely missed that figure was a character of the new Star Wars movies…).
I was quite off with the year in R3, but had 4 perfect locations (could have been 5 if I would have bothered in R5). R1: Cuban flags and street sign “Obispo”. It seems that the restaurant “La Piña De Piata” has moved one block, though. A flip-phone, but other devices seem to be a bit newer? I ventured 2010. (9950) R2: Sign reads “Tramway Flüelen Altdorf”, which I found to be at the South end of Urnersee, Switzerland. All heavy transport is done by horse, seemingly WW1 soldiers? Again, just picking 1915. (10000) R3: Sign “Annapolis” (and also the flag of Maryland, which I was not sure about). Main street, corner Gorman Street. With the clothes and modern ski, but it did not like very recent to me, so 2018. (8400) R4: There found two Gustav Adolfi Grammar Schools in Tallinn. But the street name is “Gümnaasiumi”. Cloths look 90s: 1994. (9800) R5: Since I’m not on a perfect streak, I’m not searching for the perfect location of “Staten van Suriname”, marking Grote Combeweg in central Paramaribo. The hair cut really confused me, but this is probably another queen visit, so 1969. (9598) Years off: -1, 0, -7, 2, 3. Total: 47,748
1) I have been to this place, “Floridita”, several times. It was visited by Hemingway in the old days and boasts the best daiquiris in the city. Old Havana-Obispo Street, 2012 (9,950). 2) Too few clues except that we seem to be in Switzerland during WW-I. I feel that we are near the German border. Schaffhausen, 1916 (9,500). 3) After checking all the “M” states, I finally found Annapolis in Maryland. Gorman St. Got it. This has to be during the current snowy winter, 2025 (10,000). 4) Tallinn. In a stroke of luck I found the school: “Gustav Adolf Koolituskeskus”, 1996 (8,400). 5) Paramaribo downtown, 1968 (9,758). FINAL SCORE: 47,608
Isn't it quite normal for Christmas decorations to be still up in (early) January? 😁
@@6891x here they are usually down latest Jan 06. I assumed if it was from this year it would have been like within the last few days. But maybe US keeps them up longer.
1. Havana. I probably should have gone earlier when Fidel was still alive. 7 years, 900m. 8382. 2. Switzerland during WWI. 1 year, 53km. 9636. 3. Where the f is Maryland, I know it's in the eastern US. I see their crazy flag. Found it, 0 years, 91m. 9998. 4. Lots of Swedish flags but it's a trick, because of the text on the wall. Estonia. 13 years, 288m 6994. 5. Suriname, the only have one city. Shoes look 60s. 5 years, 1.4km 8858. 43,868
I'm a bit late to the game today, but I was only somewhat wrong in the last round. R1: Woodstock festival (we had a similar photo last month): North of Kostrzyn, German/Poland border, close to Road Polnocna. There are no smartphones, but some older camera model 2013 (same year as last time). (9998) R2: The boy is wearing fairly old shoes and a timeless coat, otherwise it could be rather warmer climate and the pillars might be Roman architecture. Hatching Forum Romanum, 1936. (9886) R3: “Long Live ANC!”, ANC-flag and large buildings: Jo-burg. Took me some time to triangulate it: Rissik Street about 50m South of Leyds Street, 1990. (10000) R4: Race track in Sao Paulo with tarmac: Passarela do Samba, in front of the main building of Sambadrome (I think I got lucky spotting it quickly). Many smartphones: 2024. (9950) R5: A rolling stone in 70s clothes: 1978. Driving on the left: London, wasn’t their studio somewhere in the West, perhaps borough Richmond? (8749) Years off: 0, -1, 0, 1, 5. Total: 48,583 R2: I was surprised about my this close guess! R3: - Cape Town does not have so many large buildings and you would very likely either see the ocean or Lion's head and table mountain, or at least some hills. - ANC just became legal in 1990. The location markers seem to be fine today (up to 50m).
The world cups can be quite unforgiving. I just assumed that with Manuel Neuer in the the photo it had to be the final and Germany won. I did see this "South African flag" like blob, but the stadium was also a much better fit to Rio. Even though, you forgot to guess the year in R4, I'm curious. What would you have guessed? For some reason, I was not having any doubts that this is Santiago de Chile, but I was really struggling with the year.
@@c-minz guess i would have gone early 80s due to the one haircut
1) We have been here before. Polish Woodstock very close to the German-Berlin border. Kortszyn, I think it is. 19th edition, mmm, 2011 maybe (9,759). 2) This one also repeated! In the Vatican columns. What is going on today? pre WWII, 1938 (9,949). 3) A concentration against bigotry. Johannesburg-Marshall Street, 1986 (9,260). 4) Sâo Paulo is so massive city. Let’s say Avenida Paulista, 2017 (8,259). 5) Where is Mick? It is UK, but London? Not sure, that house does not match with London style. Scotland maybe? Edinburgh, 1970 (8,568). FINAL SCORE: 45,795 Remarks: - - That black, green and yellow flag (3) is the one of the “African National Congress”, the main political movement against apartheid in South Africa. - Now I see that building in 5) is Liberty London Department Stores.
1. I remembered this was western Poland, but didn't go west enough. 2. Wrong building in Rome, but somehow go the year right on. 3. Just plonked and was only a few 100 meters away, 5 years off though. 4. City is given, lots of smart phones, but still 5 years off. 5. I just saw the fachwerkhaus and assumed Germany. Luckily Europe is pretty small and you can be in the wrong country and still get decent points.
1) Considered by many to be the best goalkeeper of the world nowadays. World Champion in Maracaná-Rio de Janeiro 2014 (10,000). 2) Copenhagen Nikolaj Church, 1910 (9,950). 3) I think we open Latvia with this one. Riga City Hall Square. I also read a “05” in the signal, 2005 (8,886). 4) Relatives of disappeared people after Pinochet's coup d'état in 1974. This is later, perhaps during the 10th anniversary. Santiago-Bulnes Boulevard, 1984 (9,562). 5) Duda would like to skip this one (9,958). FINAL SCORE: 48,356 Remarks: - Well, very clever observation regarding the Chile round. For sure we could be in London due to repression in Chile. In fact, there are a lot of Chilean refugees there. If I would think about that I probably would go to UK too.
I remembered to set the year and didn't do much better. That didn't look like late 80s. I had no idea where the soccer games was, I guessed Europe.
R1: South east on Piccadilly Circus looking towards Glasshouse Street, London. Hippie clothes suggest we are in 1968. (9950) R2: URL and Kenyan busses. Timoroa Lane is in Nairobi. View from Hotel Accra on Accra road towards the corner where Timoroa Lane starts (in hindsight: annoyingly wrong triangulation by me). Very few, but some newer smartphones (like the lady in the foreground) before the pandemic, 2017. (9796) R3: Probably Paris: hatching Boulevard Montmartre, 1923. (8828) R4: Pyongyang, many streets have similar buildings, though the illuminated towers in the background might be the ones just north across Okryu Bridge. Guessed Chongnyon Street. Cars seem to be fairly modern, 2021. (9227) R5: Some Australian flags (and a Union Jack), Rod Laver Arena in Melborne. Some modern smartphones: 2024. (9299) Years off: 1, 2, 5, 4, 4. Total: 47,100 * The location marker in Pyongyang does not match the buildings. Past game analysis: Since North Korea does not have streetview, I searched for a while with satellite data, but I could not correct the location.
Kenya… there was 2 cars that said to me 2010ish, give or take because Africa.!
1) Picadilly hippie era, before punks came up and took the place, 1970 (9,950). 2) The problem with Kenia is the coin toss Nairobi-Mombasa, but not this time. “Nairobi Aviation College” Ho ho ho, I found “Taveta” and “Timboroa” lanes in the very centre, 2017 (9,600). 3) I know that the historic entertainment area of Paris is around Place de Clichy-Moulin Rouge area, 1914 (9,204). 4) It could be anytime in Pyongyang downtown, 2023 (8,360). 5) Australian Open is being played right now. Could be this very year? Why not. Melbourne Grand Slam Oval, 2025 (8,894). FINAL SCORE: 46,008
I just realized that I mistook Bern for Basel (just thinking about the swiss captial), and I got it spot on 😂. Then also in R4 I got lucky, because it was a 50/50 between Mexico City and Buenos Aires for me. Years off: 0, 3, 6, -1, 4. Total: 46,502
1) I am sure that Footlocker is the one in Times Square. Fat Joe? Nintendo 1? 2007 (9,799). 2) Back to my beloved Helsinki’s Alexanderterinkatu Street, 1964 (8,639). 3) Basel 0-Zurich 0. But are we in Basel? Not necessarily. Clearly, this is a Cup final match, which usually take place in neutral territory, for example, the capital city Bern. Wankdorf Stadium, 1977 (8,898). 4) Eisenhower times. This is a little weird. It is written in Spanish, but with a lot of Italian and Jewish names. This mix makes me think of Buenos Aires. Also, "Cordoba" is an Argentinian city. Buenos Aires, 1960 (9,932). 5) Pacific Ocean, San Pedro Bay... But what part of Los Angeles could we be in? West Hollywood-Beverly Hills randomly, 1960 (9,662). FINAL SCORE: 46,930 Remarks: - Why is always so hard to reach the 5k in Times Square? - Now watching your game, I see in the background of 4) “Club Argen…”. - - Italian emigration to Argentina was massive. The presence of Italian surnames in the country is very common also nowadays. There are also Central Europe Jews by hundreds of thousands. The Spanish-Italian-Jewish combination in the big signal pointed me straight to Buenos Aires.
In times square, I was also one block off, even though I did find the swatch shop. The locations of these shops seem to change over time and also the entire layout of the streets has changed some years ago. Now there are only one-way streets.
No idea how to get Argentina, I went for Panama. The rest seemed reasonable to get.
Nice game with two 10k! I only got the first 10k but found the exact spot in Rome as well. Years off: 0, 0, 2, 4, 1. Total: 48,832 R4: I almost logged in Hong Kong when I remembered that the Taxis were not yellow there. So I investigate the photo in more detail. In the background, you can actually spot the tip of the famous Taipei 101. This narrowed down my search quite a bit (even though there is indeed no clear downtown, but rather every district has a downtown with skyscrapers). BUT, the location marker was incorrect. The correct spot is 2.17km south of the game’s marker: 25°02'35.7"N 121°31'09.1"E During the game, my triangulation brought me also to a wrong street, but I was actually only 2.44km away not 3.9km.

Continental China is not very friendly with this kind of demonstrations. Taipei Minquan Road, 2008 (9,997). 5) This is Paraguay during covid times. Maybe during a classificatory game for 2022 Qatar World Cup. Defensores Stadium around-Asuncion, 2021 (9,944). FINAL SCORE: 49,202 Remarks: - Mm, the iconic pic of Che Guevara in 2) was not in the Revolution Square but in Colon cemetery. It makes sense. Christopher Columbus was buried in that very cemetery from 1796 to 1898, when Spain lost Cuba after the war with USA. From 1898 to nowadays he rests in the Cathedral of Seville (Spain).

I found the hotel. Rue de Bretagne, 2018 (9,797). FINAL SCORE: 49,524 Remarks: - It is a shame your bad eye for years, you will be reaching 48-49 k almost every round. Maybe you should invest more time in years guessing. For example, in Vancouver, the license plate indicates the year of “57”.
@@relander6459 i probably should 😔
R1: The second inauguration of Obama (he has slightly gray hair): 2013, walking down from the Capitol. (10k) R2: Assuming this a pro-Greece demonstration perhaps it has something to do with the independence of Cyprus, say around 1957. I went near the town center Nicosia even though the café had a different name. (9800) R3: French president visit in Addis Ababa, in front of the tower (slightly west of terminal 1) on the International Airport, 1972. (9950) R4: The number plate has the same line as 3 days ago: “British Columbia 57”. There are many pointy buildings but really only one that seems to match the other roof structures. Counting houses and blocks: Burrard Street, close to W Georgia Street in Vancouver. (10k) R5: Seems to be North France / Belgium and there is a bit of English writing. “Le h…” suggests we are in Le Havre, again counting houses from the church next to Hotel Dubocage de Blévill: Rue du Général Faidherbe, hatching 2014. (9800) With perfect locations in all rounds, I broke my record today, even though I just hatched the city center in R2. Years off: 0, 2, 1, 0, -2. Total: 49,550
All good locations for me: 11m, 500m, 189m, 556m, 708m. Date in Ethiopia let me down: 1, 1, 8, 0, 3. You missed the year on the BC license plate. In the 50s the ferry went downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria and took 7 hours. The ferry terminal island you found didn't exist until the 60s.
R1: Japanese script and bridges in the background. What confused me quite a bit was the Pakistani flag and the Union Jack (among some other flags hard to identify in b/w), as well as the small train tracks in the bottom left. I checked London, Tehran and then many big cities in Japan (looking for the bridges and some elevated point - mountain or high building with such structures), but there was really only Tokyo with somewhat matching bridges over Sumida River. 1958. (9906) R2: Must be a movie shooting, and the landscape almost suggested Jordan, but the license plates seemed to be US. So Beverly Hills, 1974. (9864) R3: There are a lot of Montenegrin flags. The Podgorica City Stadium fits the structures in the background. No clear clue on the year, perhaps 2018. (8400) R4: Two ZH number plates: Zurich in 1994 (when Brazil won the FIFA world cup). I could not find a matching location and went Münstergasse. (9958) R5: Seemingly a big park in the background: London, South Carriage Drive. Cars look almost like 60s, but there seem to be newer models behind the cabs, so 1971. (9985) Years off: 1, 0, 7, 0, 0. Total: 48,113
* In R1 I checked Tehran, because the symbol looks a bit like the emblem of Iran.
The flag on the left is a blurred Montenegro flag 🇲🇪, so I got that but my years were pretty terrible today.
1) It looks like a Karaoke contest. Sweet Sisters... From the sea strait and the bridges I would say we are in the Tokyo fish market area. From the guitar, years 57-58. Tokyo, 1958 (9,826). 2) It all looks very fanciful. Is it a film shoot or a real earthquake? It has to be a fantasy. If this photo were real it would be tremendously popular. The hills in the background point to Los Angeles. Universal Studios-Beverly Hills, 1972 (9,793). 3) “Policija” mm… Albania-England game in the screen? I would say we are in Albania. Tirana Stadium, 2008 (8,823). 4) There is no other sport in Brazil but football. Brazil won in 1994 and 2002. Zurich Parade Platz around, 1994 (9,961). 5) Hyde Park-Park Lane, 1969 (9,799). FINAL SCORE: 48,202 Remarks: - The score of the Brazil-Italy 3-2 in 4) actually is not correct. It ended 0-0 and 3-2 on penalties, with Roberto Baggio's historic fail. Only World Cup final to end goalless. - “POLICE” in: o French: POLICE o German: POLIZEI o Spanish: POLICÍA o Portuguese: POLÍCIA o Italian: POLIZIA o Dutch: POLITIE o Czech: POLICIE o Danish: POLITI o Slovenian / Serbo-Croatian / Latvian / Lithuanian: POLICIJA o Stonian: POLITSEI o Finnish: POLIISI o Hungarian: POLICE o Polish: POLICJA o Romanian: POLIȚIA o Swedish / Turkish: POLIS
I didn't think R1 was a clear indication for Utah over Brooklyn, I went the other way. My second blunder was in R4, where I had no idea on the year and thought the haircuts might have been from the 50s. At least I could also end with a 10k. Years off: -2, 0, -1, 15, 0. Total: 42,233
1) Delta Center Salt Lake City. It looks nowadays, 2025 (10,000). 2) A few weeks ago, I wrote down the years of each James Bond 007 that now I can not remember. Tel Aviv, 1969 (9,753). 3) Shaftesbury Ave. (in the wall) is the British Broadway. Shaftesbury Theatre, 1968 (10,000). 4) I have the feeling that it is not Budapest, but I can not think of anywhere else in Hungary out of capital city. Before or after WW II? The reconstruction of Budapest took more than 10 years and 1955 seems to me too late for this photo. I would say before the war, 1937 (8,966). 5) Repeated one. Mexico City is so massive but I know the Azteca Stadium is south of the city, 1986 (10,000). FINAL SCORE: 48,719 Remarks: - Almost every time, Timeguessr publishes events of the current year on non-transcendental pictures, especially in sports pictures. - Now I see it is “The Anderson Tapes” film, not 007 in 2). Never heard about this movie. - Now I read that theatrical censorship ended in UK on 26 September 1968, and the following night the musical “Hair” opened at the Shaftesbury. The opening night was delayed until that abolition, so the show could include nudity and profanity, as it did. - Now I read that Székesfehérvár is the sacred city of the Hungarian royalty in 4). 37 kings of Hungary were crowned in its basilica. Something like Minas Tirith for TLOTR. - It is the Azteca Stadium, Duda. In fact, the Adidas official ball of that World Cup was also called the “Azteca”. Yes, “Hand of God” goal was not in this final game, but in 1/4 against England. That game is one of the most famous football games in all history, due to the two personalized goals of Argentina: “Hand of God” and “Goal of the Century”. There is a saying that both goals reflect how Argentines really are: 50% genius (Goal of the Century), 50% cheaters (Hand of God).
@@relander6459 i like that saying 😆
All the locations were pretty easy today, just some bad years guesses to lower my score
Personally I thought it was a great goal. 🏴
@@sandyrollo2245 i can see why 😅
I had very similar guesses. In R1, I did go to the barracks. I believed the number plate in R2 said 57, which was actually the correct year. And in R3 I hatched in Frankfurt not Amsterdam. In Hamburg I had the exact same location as you, but in LA I wasn't looking for a specific spot. Years off: -2, 0, 0, -3, 0. Total: 48,226
@@c-minz nice one!
Silly mistakes from me today 1) I went Pyongyang and was too late 2) I misread the year on the plate as 67 when those are obviously 50s cars 3) I went Rotterdam to be central and hedge my guess 4) This is obviously a port and Switzerland isn't on the ocean. But I thought maybe it was on a lake. 5) Easy.
1) 1) I would say these are the blue barracks in the demilitarised zone in the border of North and South Korea, 1990 (9,950). 2) British Columbia. Vancouver maybe? Yes, Patullo Bridge, 1959 (9,792). 3) 2006/2007 football season and 10 Nov on screens, so we are in 2006. Dutch everywhere. A betting house room in Amsterdam maybe, 2006 (9,991). 4) I am pretty sure this is Hamburg, 1990 (9,980). 5) Current Los Angeles hills fires. Topanga area, 2025 (9,869). FINAL SCORE: 49,582
Similar game for me, I had almost 10k in R1 (I watched TBBT where I learned that the big Comic-Con is in San Diego and at least the large convention center was easy to find). In R2 we went for almost the identical marker*. R3 was a half decent year guess and then I crashed. Years off: 0, 0, -6, -15, 11. Total: 40,224 * We had the worst game marker this year so far in R2. In the background outside of the place, there is the "Statue of Menelik II". The actual location of the shop/bar might be here 9°02'07.8"N 38°45'10.2"E -- which is about 3.2km (!) away from the marker.
I was doing well until India where the wheels fell off. Wrong city and way off on the date. My France year was poor as well.
1) We have the year (2013) and it seems to be a comic book exhibition. As it is written in the accreditation pass, the location has two words: the first has three letters and the second five: SAN DIEGO. San Diego Convention Center, 2013 (9,997). 2) Typical mask of covid times. That language I believe to be Amharic. Addis Ababa, 2021 (9,902). 3) Back to that Alexanderkatu Street in Helsinki? 1970 (9,998). 4) Sure it is a well-known building, but not to me. Delhi, Bombay or Calcutta. Let's take a look at its main train stations. Got it. It is Bombay-Chhatrapati Shivaji, 1985 (9,911). 5) Paris Pantheon. Reading the newspaper backwards? He must be looking at the solutions to the crossword puzzle, 1960 (7,000). FINAL SCORE: 46,808 Remarks: - Now I am reading that Alexanderkatu Street in Helsinki is colloquially and simply known as “Aleksi”.
I also don't know much about American football and baseball, thought I got lucky today. My guesses were almost consistently 2 years off. R1: I checked a few stadiums in Michigan to find something that fits the structure in the upper-left corner of the photo. Then I found the south curve of the Michigan stadium in Ann Arbor (this is apparently the biggest stadium in the US). (9800) R2: Rathausbrücke Zurich 1964. (9793) R3: Triangulated it to the front of the historical museum in Bielsko-Biala 1962. (9800) R4: Left-side traffic and I don’t recall a matching bridge in the UK (quickly checked a few spots though). The chimney stalk on the right is still standing. South end of the Harbour Bridge in Sydney above Argyle Street, 1935. (9800) R5: One ad seemed to indicate Denver, but the Baseball stadium did not match. I could not find anything matching in Dallas, so I just hatched Daikin Park station in Houston which seems to have the right shape for a baseball field inside. 2024. (8900) Years off: -2, -2, 2, -2, 5. Total: 48,093
1) I know about this stadium. University of Michigan, one of the biggest stadiums in the world (I think behind Pyongyang only). Barely phones and Adidas logo from mid 00s. Ann Arbor, Michigan, 2006 (7,498). 2) Zurich, 1965 (9,945). 3) Wroclaw, 1958 (9,098). 4) Sydney Bay Bridge, 1933 (9,288). 5) I do not know this baseball team. I see a “W” on the cap, maybe Washington, but the spectators does not look too happy, so they must be playing out of home stadium (and it looks a cold place). I have not the foggiest idea. Randomly Kansas City just for being in the middle of the coutry, 2018 (7,932). FINAL SCORE: 43,761 Remarks: - Yes, we had one round before in that very bridge of Sydney.
I did not recognize the Sydney Harbour Bridge, not sure how, it's iconic and we've had it a bunch of times. I did notice traffic direction so I went London. The clue for the baseball game was the sign on the wall that said Astros. But you'd need to know they are from Houston.
I did not know the Houston Astros either. I got right they were playing out of Washington because the spectators does not look very happy, but it was impossible for me to know where this game was played.
Today was rather frustrating.. I could've been in the 49Ks, but I messed up on the easy stuff. I thought the Dead Sea round could've said 2007 but I dismissed it because of camera quality. I also thought France-Soir meant South of France 😂. I got perfect years in France, Finland and India.
I got the best score this year so far with four perfect year guesses! R1: Central Paris, close to Palais de L’Élysée. I cannot time the news article, but there are 60s haircuts, 1962. (9960) R2: At the Dead Sea Resort in Jordan. Newspaper says 2007. (9928) R3: North Indian script and police service point “...ata”, so we are in Central Kolkata. One sign mentions an act from 2008 and I did not spot the 2014. I went 2018. (9236) R4: In front of the Ateneum on Kaivokatu in Helsinki, hatching 1971. (10000) R5: In front of Buckingham Palace in 1981 (barely legible). (10000) Years off: 0, 0, 4, 0, 0. Total: 49,124 * The location in R4 is slightly off, but good enough to get a 10k.
