I just wish there was never a misunderstanding with the franchise name it was never meant to make someone feel like the bad guy or brute, insult anyone or make someone feel unintelligent in anyway.

Basically it was the United States government's fault that there was a misunderstanding with the Washington Redskins team. If the government had treated the Native American like an equal human being/ cultural group and not try to wipe them out then probably relationships would be better. Or have people who wanted to move to their states and land buy the property legally and in a nice way then things would probably be better.

The Washington Post -- a very Left-leaning newspaper, on May 19, 2016 carried the following story, by reporters Theresa Vargas, Scott Clement & John Cox: "Nine in 10 Native Americans say they are not offended by the Washington Redskins name, according to a new Washington Post poll that shows how few ordinary Indians have been persuaded by a national movement to change the football team’s moniker. The survey of 504 people across every state and the District reveals that the minds of Native Americans have remained unchanged since a 2004 poll by the Annenberg Public Policy Center found the same result. Responses to The Post’s questions about the issue were broadly consistent regardless of age, income, education, political party or proximity to reservations." Any Leftie "PC-Gestapo" type who doesn't believe it, just google it.

What will happen now? Obviously the Washington team whatever the team name ends up being will still be linked to the Washington Redskins for the records and what not since it’s the same franchise but what will they do now when they look back at everything? Like how do you market the Super Bowl teams? The Super Bowl teams in the 80s and 90s will always be the Washington Redskins team that won those championships do you just try to erase that when you market the teams that won the Super Bowl when you’re selling like new coats exclusively for Super Bowl champions? Like WTF what are they going to do? When you go back to the history of all NFL films do you censor out the name Redskins from the history?

I feel like it was a terrible misunderstanding that I feel should not exist. I don't think the team was created with a harsh or hostile message or image but rather more like a small kid (probably in kindergarden or pre-school) playing dress-up as a Native American because of the fascination to proud and sophisticated Native American culture and ideology.

    • @notthatdigusted7468

The only owner who objected Dallas getting a franchise back in 1960. So Dallas bought the rights to "HTTR" as leverage it worked so the rivalry was born. Go Cowboys 🏈

mr206er (cough) try 1962. And the only reason Gerorge Preston Marshall relented is because Bobby Kennedy was going to refuse to allow them to use the new DC stadium, which later on became RFK. But what sperated the skins from other teams was the fans. Sure the cowboys, Steelers, raiders and the bears had national followings. But no team we so identified with their home region as the skins. Virginia, Both Carolinas, and for years Georgia was all about the skins. And it's because Marshal got them on the tube from the get go. Even today there is still a lot of Skins fans, especially among those 45 and over. In NC the further east you go, especially the other side of Raleigh the more staunch the fanbase is and on the outer banks it is the skins you get as TV down there is part of the Virginia Beach market
