There’s a team of scientists part of something called ‘Project Hephaistos’ which was specifically created to look for Dyson Spheres. And just recently, this team of scientists were looking over the photometric data of millions of stars, and after complex filtering of these objects, they found seven stars in the Milky Way Galaxy that have excessive infrared radiation that cannot be explained. The next step is to perform an optical spectroscopy which will reveal more detail about these stars. Could they be Dyson Spheres? For now, no one can be absolutely sure.
But the big question is: would it really be possible for an alien civilization out there to build a Dyson Sphere around their star, and how would they do it?
Everyone always gets this wrong. You don't have to harness all the energy from your star. You just have to harness the amount of energy your star has. It doesn't matter where you get it from.

It would be horrifying to find a Dyson sphere because that would mean there's aliens far more advanced than us who probably know of our existence simply by the fact of us finding one. Which means we've had a species probably for a long time studying us from afar and who knows what their intentions are.

It will take hundreds, thousands of years before this tech is even possible to be engineered. Is there even enough material in our solar system to achieve this futuristic technology?
Really for a species to accomplish it I imagine AI would be necessary, which would already be very likely if the species has developed interstellar space travel. And yes there is enough of the materials and they can be taken with the help of AI from other planets. Obviously this process would take crazy amounts of time, that's why AI would be so helpful.

I've seen these. The object you describe is a small spin stabilized black hole. They use it to generate a warp field that drags the ships around, though the ships are technically stationary and the space/time flows around them. Two of these things are needed as it blows a bubble of hyperspace around the ships. ❤
