Pat Travers playing at the Avalon Nightclub in Santa CLara, Ca. on January 20th 2011. Another Jimmy Arceneaux+Mike Beard Presentation - Man Down Productions
Awesome. Good ole Pat is back! Clean, organized performance. You can feel and see he still cares about the music. Gotta love his spirit. Love you all, too :)
I have been following the band since the mid 70's going back with Mars Cowling and pat Pat thrall and of course Tommy Aldridge (my personal favorite line up) I'm 56 now I've seen his band just remain as the high energy hard driving bad ads rockers. especially with his love to play small venues. why madona is in the R&R hall and Pats not.... Fan for life.
They had to make room for Donna Summer and Aaron Coen. Why isn't Joe Cocker in? Because the R&R hall of fame is I joke. I would think with Rock and Roll being the first two words that they would focus and rock artist let them open a disco hall of fame. The partridge family should be in before Donna Summer and don't get ms started on Madonna.
People say "Jimi" or "Eddie" or "Page" or whoever, and then someone reminds you of Pat Travers and guitarists will tell you, he is the best! Most people just don't understand how fast, fat, and tastey PT's playing is. There are so many non-rock influences that I hear in his playing. Seen him 3 times, never dissappointed. A pro for the others to aspire to.
I saw Pat Travers live back in 1980 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco . Great show and years went by and I bought a concert video on video cassette Live in 1993 in Canada. Great show But I couldn't help but notice how much older and heavier Pat Travers looked. Well about 7 years later I bought a ticket to a show at a small club in Sacramento and didn't go because I was tired from work and didn't bother to go what a mistake. Here he is 11 years later Kickin Ass in Santa Clara never count out or underestimate the rocking power of the true legends like this man.
Mr. Travers , I would like to thank You , for playing " Crash & Burn " when I seen You and that great band that you always have to back You @ Iridium , by my request !
Razor blades and safety pins make you look like a clown! This guy came and kicked my hairy ass in the UK during the lean years of puke rock! People shed their hair and threw out their old music but some of us heard this stuff, kept our hair, started bands and kicked ass. A GOD of a guitarist. This song means a lot to me personally and I thank Pat for helping Hard rockers like me see the light. Go get em Pat you are still on fire and so am I. Kick ass forever. fanx for posting.Cum to London soon.
Was at this show... and all the others previous...awesome! Only seems like two years ago max!!!! Wholy shit time goes by soo fast the older you get. Glad Travers has been rockin all these years! Been a fan since 1980!!!!!
When I was in High School, the "Avalon" was Bullwinkle's ( based on the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon characters ) Pizza/Restaurant Arcade and we had more white powder in our noses than flour for the pizza crust LOL The good ol Rock and Roll 80s! ;) ♪♫
Postscript - I saw Pat at the Cabaret in San Jose ( speaking of clubs, now closed in the South Bay ) in about, 1994. Talk about old-school Pat energy!!! He had Aynsley Dunbar on drums (!!!), and I believe Steve Fister on guitar ( forgot who the Bass player was ) and man, that was one of the BEST shows I have ever seen - and I have seen a LOT of great acts/shows in the Bay Area in my life :-) This band is ok, but Pat's live band really hasn't been great since about 1996.
I was lucky enough to see him when he was what you call old school with Pat and Tommy. Also saw him many times in the mid 80's in small venues. Played the Keystone in PA many time's. I saw a couple of shows at Bullwinkles along with rock bands playing the Saddle Rack, only two clubs in the south bay that had real bands.
I worked at a non profit college radio station when "Puttin Straight " came out .All the dweebs at the station were foaming at the dick about the Sex Pistols and other new and more "Exciting" bands . Almost none of them to be found now . I played this guy to death , and still go to see him whenever I can . THIS IS A R&R BAND !
FROM THE FIRST TIME I BOUGHT AND LISTENED TO PAT FROM HIS MAKING MAGIC ALBUM IT WAS JUST SOME OF THE BEST ROCK AND BLUES BAR-NON. HE JUST HAS A REMARKABLE TALENT OF ORIGINAL SOUND AND STYLE THE GUITAR IS ALWAYS SO FAT THICK AND TIGHT.SOOOOOO MUCH A FAVORITE PLAY ON AND ON PAT WHEN YOU IN ANYWHERE CLOSE I WILL COME TO SEE THE SHOW !!.
No joke. Travers has, based on what I've gleaned from people who follow him and went to his shows, lived the life of a musician for 40+ years playing road houses and music joints like this one. He's paid his dues and made a lot of killer music. He deserves some kind of award. I bought three of his more known records, money well spent.
It's a shame that The Avalon Club closed this past weekend for good. Not many places left in the South Bay to go see a show like this that were as intimate.
@santyrush He's had 12 to 15 drummers just since he started recording . It looks like a great gig to be in his band but it's a lot of work . If somebody in the band doesn't want to stay he always seems to find great players, Sandy Gennaro is the drummer with him on this. He toured with him years ago and played on at least two of his records . Pat tours all over the US .They go around on a pretty low budget . The guys in the band set up their own gear most of the time .They drive themselves.
U R so right about that. Terrible soundwork by them who R behind the gear. But who hasn't done gigs that came out shitty. There R mediocre musicians that can sound great if they're in hands by good soundmixers, and other hand awesome musicians can suck if they are in hands of... yeah U know my point. I'm so glad for Mr Travers gettin' his shit together, still out there doin' his hard rock. Yes, rock on man! Greetings from Stockholm-Sweden!
pat thrall is who you are referring to pat Travers Pat Thrall Tommy Aldridge and Mars Cowling were on that Heat in The Street as well as most of his 70's releases.
Does anyone know why Pat no longer plays his double-cutaway Gibson with the Kahler Trem like he did most of his career?? Ever since he switched to PRS his tone is thin and doesn't have any balls in the Mix. The same thing happened when Neal Schon went from Les Pauls to PRS...
Pat is a very good guitarist, but I watched him play "Boom boom..." when he was a teenager and playing with Redhot in churches and high schools in Ottawa. I can't believe he is still playing that old song.
"@PatTravers" Wow dude, put on my head phones I "crashed N burned" Thanks for saving my dead "ASS" road kill smells bad when there's "heat in the street"
+David That's Sandy Gennaro .He was in the band at this time probably less than 3 months . He toured for a couple of years with PT and did at least two of his best albums back in the early 80's . Sean Shannon was through touring with the band at this time .He has his own studio and produces other bands , and still helps Pat with recording ..Still will play in PTB when duty calls . Sandy at this time ,was likely concentrating pretty hard to play the songs . I was surprised and very happy he was able to return .His resume goes from Cyndi Lauper to Bo Diddly , Joan Jette and the Monkees . He's still with the band and is something to witness . PT has survived a hell of a lot of years and personnel changes many times . (Kirk McKim , the second guitarist , has since left ) PTB still can rock with anybody .
Oh my God this is so horrible & such dated bad music!!!!!!! I love Pat & dug what he did, but no one wants to here this anymore!!!!!!! Stick to the good ol Boogie Woogie stuff brother!!!!!!!
"No one?" Thanks for speaking for everyone else. I'll just speak for myself, if that's OK. There are exceptions, of course and that's not to say there wasn't plenty of dreck that came out when I was kid. As opposed to so much of today's overproduced, overplayed, autotuned, mindless dreck that makes up much of today's 'product' that's 90% show and 10% tell, I find it refreshing to hear something raw, with feel, and with a decent groove.
One of the hardest working musician ever
Travers is my favourite guitar player of all time and categories!

+Buster Poindexter (boboshouseofblues) We'd all like to know .Madonna , R & R ? OH FUCK NO !
r&r hall of fame is political bs.
MARS AND PAT2 were the group. Tommy or Nicko is not so essential they are so great both. The live album is one of the best I've ever heard.
On that note why isn't Steppenwolf? Those guys have influenced so many proceeding bands
They had to make room for Donna Summer and Aaron Coen. Why isn't Joe Cocker in? Because the R&R hall of fame is I joke. I would think with Rock and Roll being the first two words that they would focus and rock artist let them open a disco hall of fame. Pat Travers was way cool back in the day and stil is a force. Great guitar playing.
Pat Travers is a Living Legend, Great Video...
Doesn't get much better than this.
Life is good
Old? Perhaps. Still great to hear? Absolutely!

Was at this show... and all the others previous...awesome! Only seems like two years ago max!!!! Wholy shit time goes by soo fast the older you get.
Glad Travers has been rockin all these years! Been a fan since 1980!!!!!
+Rob Garrett Was there also, damn how I miss the Avalon.

kphfun1 Right on man! It's just crazy how Pat pretty much disappeared between about 1981 and 1992 :(
Great to hear Pat still kickin' everyone's ASS
I worked at a non profit college radio station when "Puttin Straight " came out .All the dweebs at the station were foaming at the dick about the Sex Pistols and other new and more "Exciting" bands . Pat you still one of the best
Great shooting by the way . Great to be able to see the drummer a lot of the time .
I really miss this lineup
Oh yeah ...... I was there. MIND BOGGLING !!!
Saw this same lineup last Sat nite....Fantastic!
Pat has over 30 lps to credit plus much more studio work and Donna Summer is in the R&R Hall of Shame.

You are correct sir and not only that she sucked..
Pat Travers & Co. KICKING ASS!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!
So many times with opening acts it took them a bit to get the sound right at this place. Once they did they place was awesome to hear a show.
Nothing against PTs other drummer, but when this guy bangs out skins,it all comes together.Something primal about it.
italian Santo ‘Sandy’ Gennaro
@@knowmusicman157 Generations of his ancestors pounding their drums on the open prairie.Perhaps these warriors channel through their descendent.
Nice production.
This is a good warm up for seeing PT next week in Florida :)
Great video.

Such a cool laid back version of Live in london
Incredible!
outstanding video
would it be strange to say that I train with him personally at a local karate dojo?
small world man...
in Orlando?
Unfortunately it's not Pat Thrall... Would love to see those two play together again... THAT was a matchup!!
Mckim is quite the awesome rhythm guitarist (listen crash & burn)
Pretty bad ass lead guitarist as well (listen heat in the street)
Just listen to the originals Pat Pat
Kirk is a cool guy and kills on guitar. Played with Pat for a while...
Traverse is actually a really good rythym player.
havnt seen pat in too too too many years, just has'nt panned out?
PT Roxx! Looking forward to the Chicago show at Reggie's!
pat thrall is who you are referring to pat Travers Pat Thrall Tommy Aldridge and Mars Cowling were on that Heat in The Street as well as most of his 70's releases.
HOLY FUCK! IT'S PAT TRAVERS!
Pack up the suitcase I gotta go .
So sad he was put up with shredders. He never was one. He is the MAN
I see why Pat went 3piece. Gawd.
2:08 Life In London

I wonder why they changed guitars too.
Great question I do miss that powerful down and dirty. Still a great guitarist either way. He probably gets lotsa free gear ?
Pat is a very good guitarist, but I watched him play "Boom boom..." when he was a teenager and playing with Redhot in churches and high schools in Ottawa. I can't believe he is still playing that old song.
Yes , he's still playing it .Because it's timeless .
It's one of those old blues tunes written by the pioneers. Delta blues and chicago. About taking revenge on a cheater. Hey Joe, Honey Hush, etc
my question is: why Pat change allways the member of his band? I saw some concerts live, and the bass, drummer, rythm guitar, are others... thx.
17 mins? Who plays for only 17 mins? There are other PT shows that are over an hour long! Is there more to this show?
johnny ramone hair cut :)
Who gives a fuck about his haircut.
I WAS HITCH HIKING ONE NIGHT AND HE GAVE ME AN OFF BEAT RIDE!
That's better than a beat off ride.🤣🤣🤣
It's too bad they are tearing the Avalon down, but Pat tore it up first.
mike mangini on drums?
When I started watching this clip I thought I saw a slightly overweight Tony Montana on rhythm guitar,
"@PatTravers" Wow dude, put on my head phones I "crashed N burned" Thanks for saving my dead "ASS" road kill smells bad when there's "heat in the street"
good stuff, PT always Rocks!. the drummer does not have the PT feel, nor does he look happy or confident, maybe a fill in
+David That's Sandy Gennaro .He was in the band at this time probably less than 3 months . He toured for a couple of years with PT and did at least two of his best albums back in the early 80's . speak for yourself, I think it rocks !! LOVE PTB !!
Maybe you should try some Maroon 5 or Allanis Morresette .
yeah man, take a walk!
***** Your the best thing that's happened to the PTB in a long , long time . Keep rocking man .Talk to you on FB under another name now and again .
"No one?" Thanks for speaking for everyone else.
I'll just speak for myself, if that's OK.
