The music for Krull was composed by James Horner, who was still unknown when Krull was being filmed, but rocketed to fame after composing the music for Star Trek II and III and earned an Academy Award nomination for the music for Aliens.

    • @franzhaas5597
      @franzhaas5597 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

You can hear Star Trek 2 and Star Trek 3 music throughout the entire composition. I would argue that this single soundtrack laid the groundwork for his sound for the rest of his career. I love his work though he rips himself off constantly

@@franzhaas5597 Well, he worked on Star Trek II before Krull, so you could say he's reusing a lot of those themes here. Yes, Horner has been accused of being repetitive, but then the same thing could be said about Williams and Goldsmith.

This was my favorite movie growing up, and it still holds a top spot nostalgia-wise. Other actors that folks might recognize from this, Robbie Coltrane is pretty popular in the Harry Potter franchise, while Freddie Jones and Francesca Annis, who play the wise man and the widow of the web respectively, also appear in the 80's version of Dune. The glaive does make an appearance in the final battle of the Ready Player One movie, which I was awkwardly the only person who cheered in the theater when it showed up on screen.

One of the things I love about this movie is that while Ergo is cowardly, he isn't a pure coward. In each fight he makes sure the more vulnerable than him are gotten to safety, even though the Seer dies because he goes back to help. For such a kitchey movie, it has a lot of character development. His line to Cyclops, "We had no time." beautifully displays the friendship they formed in just a few days.

The glaive is the fantasy weapon many of us would love to have.. Imagine Aragorn using it against the urukhai.
KRULL is one of my favorite movies ever.. And the music by James Horner is magnificent (just like Ergo).. Rell is my number one character, but as the years passed, Ergo became a more beloved character.

There's a Willow series starting on Disney+ in November. I kind of rolled my eyes about yet another crappy reboot but then I read that it will actually be a sequel starring the same midget and other original actors. Maybe there's hope that Disney has learned from previous blunders and won't Disney it up too badly. Maybe.

This is one of my favourite films. Loved it as a kid, love it as an adult. I also liked how the death of each character was treated as impactful and a big loss to their group, even the side-characters who had little impact otherwise. Most films just gloss over the loss of side characters.

This was such an amazing video reaction!!! So many memories brought back from rewatching these early 80s gems. Sure the special effects was not top tier and many the story was so-so or the acting but their is definitely sentimental nostalgia that I definitely have. I would love to see if Mrs. Movies would like to react to another sci-fi classic The Last Starfighter!! I know you have seen it so I really hope this can happen (if she has not seen it of course). I also put my vote in for other great sci-fi fantasy epics like The Beastmaster, Dragonslayer and Legend.
Always love your video reactions!! 😊👍🏾👍🏾

Fun facts: The cyclopes was played by Bernard Bresslaw, from the "Carry on" movies. this was his last film. He saw through slits hidden in the cheek wrinkles.
-Ken Marshall (Colywn) is best known by ST: DS9 fans as Commander Eddington.
-The Princess had such a thick accent that she had to be dubbed.
-The heavyset thief is played by Robbie Coltrane best known for the show "Cracker".
-The chief thief was played by Alun Armstrong. He played the cult leader in "The Mummy Returns".
-The foot soldiers are basically brain aliens in exo-suits... Like Krang from TMNT.
There was supposed to be a sequel but, sadly, that never happened.
I love everything about this movie!
This and others like it, inspired my love of fantasy films.
