  • Interview with A.C. Ace (Ronald Grube) recorded on April 19, 2024 as part of the Bronx Hip Hop Oral History Project.
Ace is an original Dynamic Rocker from 1977 when the crew was originally named "Exotic Dancers". Ace comes from a working class family whose mother is of German lineage and a Sicilian father. Ace speaks about his life growing up in Astoria, Queens with his friends. Ace also talks about the original members of the Dynamic Rockers prior to 1979 and his memory of how the crew got both their names. Of interest, Ace discusses going to Coney Island to battle another Breaking crew while coincidentally and unbeknownst to him other members of the crew attended the well-known Lincoln Center battle.
The interviewer is Pastor Crespo, Jr., research librarian and archivist for The Bronx County Historical Society. The Bronx Hip Hop Oral History Project is a project of The Bronx County Archives at The Bronx County Historical Society Research Library. This oral history is brought to you through the support of The New York City Council Cultural Immigrant Initiative.
