Are the cruising speeds good at 70 on this. I’m thinking about trading in my drz400 for one of these bad boys 🤘🏽
I would say 70 is comfortable on normal roads, hell even 80 is pretty good! When you get on the highway, anything above 75 is pretty windy just because your upright and don’t have a windscreen. If your coming from a Sumo platform, the 690 will be hands down the best cruising sumo you’ve ever ridden 🤣 if your used to sport bikes or other larger bikes, you’ll think the 690 is terrible above 80 hahah

@@MrPARAS04 🤣🤣 my old sumos (CRF450X and 450MXC) were the same way, it felt like riding on a washing machine with a cinder block in it hahaha the 690 is not like that, I will be honest, 100+ gets sketchy but that’s to be expected 🙃
@@LifeWellRidden yeah I’m just trying to have some thing that’s on the river around the city and be able to cruise on the freeway to get to local ripping around spots or to work. Because my DRZ400 exactly like that washing machine you’re talking about lol.

Just one question does yours don’t have a quickshifter or do you just don’t like using it cause i love the sound it makes when shifting up that little pop sounds so nice.

Greetings! Thank you for the love! In all honesty I don't use the quickshifter as often as I should.. I found out that the bike had one about 6 months into owning it so the thought never crossed my mind haha, it has also been the first bike i have owned with a quick shifter so a mental adjustment is needed haha. @@LifeWellRidden oh wow so you didn‘t knew it well Since i‘ve started to use it i Never shifted with Clutch again also because its a much faster acceleration but I guess everyone hast their own preferences in shifting.

@@manuelschetter7078 I’m still trying to adjust my brain to accommodate the thought of a quick shifter, I only use it at WOT bit other than that it’s traditional clutch for me haha

Hell yeah they do they upgraded it this year to 95% protection . Rather have a fellow rider be safe than sorry! They’ll are a little pricey . Be it’s something you could put also under your track suit . Definitely look into it!

Thanks man and congrats on the 690! It’s the SP connect mount with phone case BUT make sure you get the anti-vibration dampener or you’ll destroy the camera stabilization on your phone.. at least for iPhones

I use the SP connect with the phone case and definitly buy the SP Connect vibration dampiner or your phone camera's internal stabilization will destory itself!
Hi, what's the make of mirrors you are using and where did you get them from plz?
It’s a whole set, I have a short on my channel that goes into the mirrors deeper but anyway,
They are Zeta Bark Busters with Zeta Integrated Turn Signal Guards, Zeta U Brackets (to get around the cables) THEN I mounted the PowerMadd Trail Mirrors to the bark busters through the existing bolt and nut.

Been debating on getting the 690 or the 500 an converting to SM. What's your thoughts considering you own a 690?
Very good question my friend! This will be a long one! Haha
I have owned several sumos in the past (04’ KTM 450 EXC/05’ Honda CRF450X/04’ KTM 450 MXC) and I would have to say the 690 is faster and heavier than the previous. It’s much better for longer cruising, highway use and just overall a better “street bike”.
That being said, it’s not the ideal street bike, there are a lot of features lacking, the seat is your typical sumo/dirt seat and for the price you can get a lot faster/better street bikes.
A 690 (in my opinion) would be the best “all in one bike” if you had to only have 1 but if your looking for a 2nd/3rd/4th etc.. then I would build a 500, I feel like you get more of a sumo feel, much lighter and with other street bikes in the garage you still have the pleasures of the road if you want.
If I had the money, I would have bought a 890 Duke R and used for street/track and then a 450 SMR used for hooligan/cart track and then a 300 for the dirt but I don’t have the money 🤣
With all of that.. the 690 is an amazing bike, it’s fun, great at the track, easy to get around, easy to work on and we’ll I do love this bike and will never get rid of it even as I add more bikes to the collection.

@@LifeWellRidden thank you for taking the time an replying to me. I'm being honest here. I don't have any street legal bike at all. Iv grown up riding but in the dirt only. I'm signed up for the idot class finally. I couldn't get it last year because it was filled up. Long story short I can't ride dirt as much anymore considering where I live now so I want something I can ride on roads. Hooligan around on. Not looking for long trips. Commuting around town things like that. I might cruise a little longer like head to the city an cruise around like you but that would be my furthest rides. An maybe wen I get one we can cruise one day im in Northern Illinois as well.
@@dillard715 then a 690 honestly sounds perfect for ya, it’s got more power than a 500 and vibrates less and has a lot of “street bike comforts” over the 500. Especially if it’s your only/first street bike and you’ve ridden nothing but dirt!
Congrats on getting into the class! It’s honestly the best way to do it, even tho they are motorcycles, life is different on the street and your taking the right steps!

An thanks man. Yea I figured doing the class was the best way. Iv rode dirt bikes but not a lot of road riding obviously. I went for the middle class because I know the basics of a bike. But want to learn more road maneuvers. An then also don't have to deal with the extra stuff at DMV because the class does most of it. I subbed to your channel man good content. Once I get a bike an my license I'll definitely hit u up an we can go for a cruise. I don't see many SM in the area an would love to find more people to ride with.
@@dillard715 it is an “issue” for sure, I think it’s more of the fact you need to be very confident and shift hard but there are lighter springs out there. Comparing to a Ducati super bike or R1 the quick shifter is “good” but nothing close to the top notch. Other than that it’s been a great bike. It does have oil starvation issues so be mindful of that and if you modify, expect to have some hiccups haha you can see what happened with mine way back on the channel.. damn PCV!

What mirrors?

You would not be able to run these on the factory guards unless you drilled some holes, at least from what I remember.. but it’s a whole kit!

But its a pain in the ass.. you have to do so much to get it on there.. I just have the factory header that I cut. Heindsight, I would get the Tekmo and be done haha
The audio sucks because someone claimed it and I had to remove the audio.. so its spotty and I'll have to re-upload at sometime haha
