Norton fits into this role perfectly because that is what he does in real life sets... he starts to "direct" scenes. As a matter of fact he did this in Am.History X to the point of getting into arguments with the director.
Inspiring gem of a movie....really wonderful soundtrack too especially for me the scene with the critic in a bar finishes with Ravel Piano Trio - just sublime.
Man really cool to hear him talk about this scene. I was trying to find this scene with no commentary because it left an impression on me about how to wright dialogue. Anybody know a link to this scene please post it to my comment!
Loved this scene so much I had to do a reenactment of it with my buddy. I put it on my channel if anyone wants to see it. Should be the first video that pops up. Don't have to watch it obviously, just wanted to show how much I loved the scene!
This was a great movie one of the best of 2014 I hope michael keaton wins best actor at the oscars on sunday.Edward norton was great but I think jk simmons will win best supporting actor and he should.
Mike basically knows he can do better and has more integrity as an artist. He knows Riggan is aware of his status as an artist, and Mike uses this to his advantage. He uses this confidence and charisma to basically lead Riggan in any direction he wants. "No, no Riggan. You don't get it. THIS is how you're supposed to do it..." Regan just looks at him in awe...

alejandros voice is so cool
Back in the 90’s he was radio announcer in Mexico City.
I love the fact that Ed Norton exactly mirrored his own character. Brilliant. So him
This is seriously a great series
After Primal Fear I thought Norton couldn't done a better role, but what he did here is beyond everything. Hands down the best living actor.
American History X
Ikr!!
I love his voice and accent

I like the scene where he demands so much from her.
Georgiaboy2016 The theatre critic?
Nicholas Warner Yes I believe that is what I was getting at lol
Yes wonderful scene and a wonderful piece of music - Ravel piano trio - at end.
Masterpiece!
Birdman: Anatomy of a scene: explains the whole movie. (Get it? 👉🏼😏👉🏼.... get it..?
Ravel Piano Trio - one of my all time favourite pieces....

Director Alejandro González Iñárritu is the best director. You are my teacher.
Good work 🍷

Wish the blu ray had a commentary like this.
+ja ba Inarritu is not fond of commentaries. He feels they "spoil the magic".
+Roberto Horacio De Lugo To me, they enhance it, but I respect his opinion.

Look at Norton's hair between 1:08 and 1:20... There one can notice a cut
+classic_eleven
no I think Norton just ran his fingers through his hair while he was off camera
wow!
nice voice
How is Mike manipulating Riggan in a passive aggressive way?
He’s directing the director lol
How is Mike being manipulative and passive-aggressive toward Riggan with his suggestions about cutting lines?
