One time I had a funny encounter with Metal Reflect Slime in Master Duel: I MST´d my opponent´s back row at which point they chained the Metal Reflect Slime. The Slime resolved and summoned itself to the field while the animation showed MST going to the GY. Which looked bad since I needed my opponent to only control one monster for Share the Pain. Then MST resolved in the GY and the Metal Reflect Slime still died. Long live "This card is also still a Trap.".
I've been experimenting with Trap-Monsters for almost 2 years now. The best version I've come up with combines them with Subterror (to reset the Trap monster face down to abuse the "it goes back into the backrow" rule and reactivate them turn after turn while being backed up with an additional omni). Some trap cards that are a part of archetypes but are great in trap monsters: the Jirai Gumo retrain is some removal and its a level 5 for rank 5 plays with Stungray. Pharonic Advent works really well with the Uria package because you can tribute any monster to summon it and tribute one of the Sacred beast fiend to set ANY continuous trap. you can run the adventure engine and Ra sphere mode because you are almost never normal summoning unless you have Qardan. Time thief Redoer using Qardan and any level 4 trap monster has both its teleporting effect and removal effects live because it has a trap and a monster as material. and you can run Draco slayers because of the continuous trap synergy.
I really love Trap Monsters, there such a weird yet cool inclusion to Yu-Gi-Oh's overall design. There like a more specialized token monster that you summon that has a bit more sustaining power. My favorites are: the Angel Statue, the Anguish statue, the tiki twins, the Swamp deity. I kind of wish there were more monsters that focus on turning out Trap mon. frequently, and spells that support such type of cards. Or even have a field spell that could support Trap Monsters when they are acting as monsters, & provide protection when they are in the back row.

Ibicella Lutea is a monster I like to add to trap monster builds. It's admittedly not fantastic, but it's effects are simple and a nice complement; "Cannot be destroyed by battle while you control another monster. Neither player can target face-up Spells/Traps you control with card effects." Since trap monsters are traps, they get shroud/ targeting protection, and because they're monsters Lutea can't be destroyed by battle. The fact the traps special summon themselves also means they're easy to put into the monster zones during the opponent's turn/ battle phase as a sort of quick effect battle protection on the plant.
Pretty sure Swamp Mirrorer is also based on a thought experiment like Quantum Cat. I believe the question is if a copy of you was formed out of a swamp would it still be you. (of course the trivia section on the wikis takes some massive yet hilarious leaps instead) On a related point I was happy to find out that Mimeses Elephant existed through MD since it being an effect monster that changed type and is summoned on the opponent's turn worked eerily well for a deck I had there. (Full Adventure which locks you and Stained Glass of light and dark which needs effect Fairies and Fiends)
Metamorphortress is also pairs well with Qliphorts because they are valid targets if special summoned or summoned without tribute and result in a 3400/3400 or 3800/3800 body.
If I were to make a Trap Monster, I'd probably make it a ROTA for something(Earthbound or Rituals more than likely) and can be the entire tribute for said ROTA(count as two tributes for an Earthbound and the entirety of a Ritual summon).
I just so happened to be building a trap monster stun deck to pair with the Argostar stuff so this was amazingly timed. And as a floodgate player, honestly picks really are scarce, if Anguish pattern didn't activate and be a passive optional then it'd make stuff like Tyrant's Tirade and Grave of the Super Ancient Organism amazing since it would still work and so would Apophis since the negation being part of the summon effect means it was just a trap when activated, but giving up Anguish to run those two is a tall ask

Trap Monsters need a Field Spell or something which resets them, not just like Tiki Soul (though it's helpful), but on command. A mandatory phase-based effect would probably be better to minimize just how abusable it can be, but a Field Spell that sets all your Continuous Traps facedown in the End Phase without exception would be strong without ruining the oh so precious meta.
I designed this card back in high school, but never made use of it. Hope you like it. Please do just a Gadget explained. There's enough cards for a video itself. Plus some of the Ancient Gear monsters work specifically with the Gadget monsters 😁 The deck is actually pretty decent

Its still one of the funniest gimmick and quite cheap decks on duel links, where the ruling is different because of the zones and the burn or recycle skills from odion to pair with them
I don't know about anyone else but I kinda wanna see a full archetype center around you're finished. Like who is this angry gremlin and why is she so excited on the art for the spell that's 10? This card just feels like it was meant to have more to it but we never got to see what.

Also another archetype(s) i want to see based off monsters is the Dominus trap cards in monster form. I mean, They're the holy trinity of dragon, mecha, and waifu and are designed so well

@@Fan-bx6tv Well it IS still a Trap Monster that still treats itself as both a Monster AND Trap. One without any protections. AND it has use its classic “Trap Hole” effect of targeting and destroying a summoned monster first… So I’m thinking there are enough hoops to jump to give it an effect that’s worth the payoff, and even then there are probably better cards to summon if you just need a beatstick.

So if they’re running a bunch of high stated monsters, then it’s eating good. BUT if their deck for whatever reason has nothing buy low stated ones, it’s ATK gains are minimal (and if for whatever reason those stats are so low they don’t HAVE a monster with 1000+ ATK, this card is useless.)
They've always been able to, the only difference between traditional trap monster that say (this is still treated as a trap) and ones that don't is traditional ones can be targetted by spell/trap targetting removal like mst even after they're summoned

dont forget temple of the kings- ot allows 1 trap to be activated the turn its set- so tiki soul allows another summon

Oh I'm definitely making an Argo star deck with Uria. I love Trap Monsters and making a good deck out of them has been a bit of a pet project of mine.
