I just LOVE how the vase of flowers turned out. You even said when the background didn’t turn out to impressive that sometimes they turn out to be what you really like the best 😄
That was really nice, playing guess what card is next. You haven’t painted a cute little animal in a while for us. I think the face of a fox is so precious….would you paint a fox sometime soon? Thank you.
I love the flowers you made out of blobs. The added color really made a difference. BTW, I love the scritchy scratchy sound. Adore your videos, always. ❤️
Hi Diane, I love watching and this morning did paint as you chattered. I had some good ideas from listening. I thought your painting orange yellow colours I thought it went too dark. I liked it earlier. I love drawing and painting but I’m not amazing lol. Thanks for some beautiful pictures and ideas. :))
Diane, this video is packed with surprises! I love the idea of making those handmade inspirational note labels to put onto cards and the possibilities are endless. The neurographic art is something I've done before and should do more often as it truly is a lovely relaxation exercise. The vase you made is stunning with all of the color variants, especially that purple. Just yesterday I was telling my sister that I'd revisited a 4 x 6 piece of paper with "blobs" that I thought was a failure, but in looking at it days later, I too saw a vase and bouquet in what I was planning on tossing, and here you are creating one. It just goes to show how much I've learned from you. I now save those paintings I don't like and either cut /punch them up into designs for added texture, or ink over them to create whatever vision I want. You are such an excellent and inspirational artist/teacher. Thanks for the added bonus at the end of the video with your beloved animals.
Thanks so much for this lovely thoughtful comment Carolyn! I’m so glad you’re enjoying creating new ideas and sharing them with others - it’s so important to do this! I’m happy that you also enjoy our family of (rather demanding) animals! We are lucky to have the space to have them!
What a lovely evening I have had watching your video. Thanks Diane! So many different ideas to try out. I really loved the way your vase of flowers materialised with some skillful use of your tombow brushpen 😊
Fun ideas! Are your Craftamo brushes similar in stiffness to your Drawell brushes? Seems they are stiffer than the Princeton Aqua Elite brushes. Love seeing your little farm.
Nice to know someone else paints who doesn’t have great visual imagination. I have aphantasia so I don’t see anything in my head and always need to find inspiration from somewhere. Once I start I’m ok because I know what goes with what bit starting 😱
I've been trying really hard to paint even loose florals and struggling (and with hand arm issues). But I decided to make bookmarks and ATC cards (no I won't be trading) in little paper frames to give to friends. I just started yesterday. I'm trying just 3 colors for backgrounds then mixed media for mark making but it's hard.....soooo MANY decisions!! Do I even have enough band with for this? LOL. then this vid came up this afternoon and I've gone to town. Your colors, my colors, your wonderful ideas for marks and I even came up with some cool stuff myself! I just now came up for air as this ended. I feel tired,(normal for this) but elated at the same time, I've created 7 really cool bookmarks. Thanks for this....what I needed and it was fun. Really did feel like I was there painting away with you. Thanks so much for this.
Hi Kathy! I do believe that my videos are inspired by a need that is out there - I don’t know what that need is, or who the person is, but I paint what I’m “told” to paint. Your experience of finding this video just right at the right time tells me that it found its mark. So glad you enjoyed it and that it was helpful, I know things have been hard for you lately and you’re a hero to keep going with the art, keep it up, it’s the only way to really heal, I do believe. Take care, love Diane xxx
Diane, I adore your comment "life in the studio" and what a life! I work from home and often sneak a peek at a playlist I have set up for you - listening to you work in the background while I work is a highlight of my workday :)
Haha - it just means you were so relaxed and in the art zone. :) I do like the neuro graphic art. I tend to have some anxiety(or something) and bite on the inside of my mouth. It makes me crazy. Hard to stop but when I'm creating neuro graphic art I don't do it. Too bad I can't create all day. Thank you so much for the video! And I really loved all the pretty art especially the play with all the different colors/words.
That’s interesting, I used to do that a lot as a child and still do sometimes. I have no idea why I do/did that, crazy isn’t it! Glad you enjoyed the video!
What a splendid idea for a use for the rings!!!!!! I wondered how to “store” all my paintings. Easy to show to people too! Thanks for that wonderful idea Diane!
Sometimes I don't know what to paint, so I paint colored backgrounds, let them dry, comeback later and see some kind of flower and end up with something like your vase and flowers! Love your creation! Thank you for all these ideas, will try them all.
Love your Jacob sheep Diane. I used to spin and I still have my ashford wheel. We got it used and I fixed it too work very well. I am not able to use my legs any more re but I still have lots to spin by spindle. I know a good fleece and wow yours are gorgeous and very lovely. I can tell your sheep are healthy and well loved! I would love to see you spin and more sheep paintings please! With pansies lol, hugs grace in Vermont
i just love, love, love hearing the rooster in the background. It reminds me of my time in a little village in Brasil. Of course, your little paintings are adorable and manageable for a beginner like me.
Those stripes, the second thing on my sketch book. I named my book, little roch, tell me where you've been. It is an afghan I made for my parents before I joined the army. Lots of memories. My pictureswill be accompanied with the story behind it.
Thank you SO much for what turned out to be the best, most creative morning I've had in a long while. I love doing my art with your videos playing, but this morning was fabulous. I really loved the Greek key sampler. Those greys and designs were lovely. Thanks again. C🌻
Thanks so much for sharing that with me, it’s really important to me to know that what I do is reaching people when they most need it. Thanks so much for your support xxx
Was glued to this video as you drew out card by card. Seeing the vase for a bouquet of flowers was so inspiring for me as was defining flowers in the blobs. I once saw a dragon in the midst of playing with bands of color and brought it to life. Sometimes we have to let our eyes open to the possibilities. Thank you. ❤
Bises a bientot mon amie
Hi Diane. I recently learned from Shayda Campbell that white gel pens work best on top of an ink based pen/slash brush. Some like archival ink or Pitt pens. They don’t work well on anything water based. I’m guessing that this also applies to metallic gel pens as well. I don’t have any inktense pencils but they might work too.
Hi Diana I have a question. The paper you paint on! Do you wet both sides and let dry before you paint on it for better absorption? Thank you. Tracey from New Brunswick Canada I’m new at watercolour and only bought 140lb cold press heavy weight so far. Ps. Love , love your videos. I watch daily.
Hi Tracey, thanks so much for your support, it means a lot to me. To answer your question - no, I don’t wet both sides of the paper and don’t let it dry either. The only time I thoroughly wet paper both sides is if I’m doing a special wet-in-wet technique and then I don’t let it dry at all, but work on wet paper. The usual method is to paint wet on dry, and sometimes I wet parts of the paper before I start, and sometimes the whole sheet, but never both sides. Hope this helps, happy painting, Diane x
Lovely video as always Diane thank you feeling a bit down in the dumps so off to give it a go. Ha e you heard about the 5 dots flowers? Stumbled across video the other day and she was using this method think her name maremiart
The one with the flowers in a vase is very abstract and beautiful! ❤
I just LOVE how the vase of flowers turned out. You even said when the background didn’t turn out to impressive that sometimes they turn out to be what you really like the best 😄
Thank you so much! Yes, that can be the way it goes!
That was really nice, playing guess what card is next. You haven’t painted a cute little animal in a while for us. I think the face of a fox is so precious….would you paint a fox sometime soon? Thank you.
Great idea!! I’ll give it a try soon!
I got my Diane Antone Craftamo Watercolor Paint Brush Set and love love love them ❤️ ❤❤❤
Me too.
I’m so glad!!!
We're so glad to hear that! Happy painting! 🎨✨
I love the flowers you made out of blobs. The added color really made a difference. BTW, I love the scritchy scratchy sound. Adore your videos, always. ❤️
Thank you! 😊 really appreciate your support. X

I liked it earlier. I love drawing and painting but I’m not amazing lol. Thanks for some beautiful pictures and ideas. :))
You are so welcome, it’s a process, doesn’t always work! Happy painting!
I just bought the Mei Liang paint set! They are so tiny compared to the Kuretake set! 😍
Yes, they are! I find I want to take paint from the little pans and put it into larger wells on my palette or into little dishes.
I look forward to watching the video and being inspired by it!
Yes, it’s a long one, you’ll need a few sessions probably!!
Nice playful morning. ❤ Thank you for sharing this with us. 😊
Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!

You are so welcome! Tombow to the rescue!
Fun ideas! Are your Craftamo brushes similar in stiffness to your Drawell brushes? Seems they are stiffer than the Princeton Aqua Elite brushes. Love seeing your little farm.
Yes they are! I use them interchangeably. The Princeton seems to have lost some of its spring recently and seems to be softer.
Thank you for another wonderful video. It was very relaxing to watch and food for thought
Glad you enjoyed it!

I really like that big cats tongue brush from your set. I use it all the time. Thank you for the variety of ideas for warm ups.
Thanks Linda!
You make me feel so successful. The abstract squares put inn S clbie's book 365 days of feel good art.

Thank you so much! I am always spending way too much time deciding what to paint or draw. This will help.
I do too. I have a project I have to do and I cannot for the life of me decide what to do. Too much freedom to choose. Argh!
I absolutely love seeing all the animal babies you have❤ makes my heart sing.
Thanks! Yes, we have a lot!
Love the rainbow colors. Very pretty! Thank you Diane interesting. ❤
Oohhh. My fav is the circle background with flower vase. Dark moody yet uplifting. Brilliant.
Very Beautiful and Fantastic Flowers ,
Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏼🙏🏼👌👌🤩🤩🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thanks for visiting again!
Really enjoyed this video ! Thank you…

What a wonderful variety of paintings! All so inspiring and helps with painters block. I especially love the vase of flowers! Great video Diane❤️
WOW, amazing and beautiful. Love the vase of flowers.
They are all so lovely. My favourite is the vase of flowers. It was so unexpected. You truly are an inspiration. Thank you.
Thank you so much! Yes, unexpected is the word!
Another lovely and lively group of swatches and doodles for us to try. Thanks so much for your continued efforts to keep us painting! Blessings 🙂
You are so welcome!

So nice of you to say! I tell my husband that but he doesn’t listen!
Those stripes, the second thing on my sketch book. I named my book, little roch, tell me where you've been. It is an afghan I made for my parents before I joined the army. Lots of memories. My pictureswill be accompanied with the story behind it.
Also, I love that your sweater matches the leaves you paint. 🥰
LOL!!!!
Thank you SO much for what turned out to be the best, most creative morning I've had in a long while. I love doing my art with your videos playing, but this morning was fabulous. I really loved the Greek key sampler. Those greys and designs were lovely. Thanks again. C🌻

Have you looked in simple zen tangle? Lots of interesting mark making ideas there.
Yes, I’ve bought a Zentangle book - lots of ideas but a mite worried about their copyright statement…
Hi Diana I have a question. The paper you paint on! Do you wet both sides and let dry before you paint on it for better absorption?

Yes, I’ve also tried that technique and a variation on it is in this video: th-cam.com/video/-pkD7INzL_A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=fUBNVBKi9vr3FKzk
This is too thrilling. I used various greys on my take on Mycena's Lion's gate.
