What is 00 oil? I tried searching it on Amazon and got lost! Also, my Elna Supermatic still has a horrible grinding sound after oiling it. What should I do?
3-in-1 is TERRIBLE for sewing machines. This is the worst advice on the internet. Only sewing machine oil should be used. 3-in-1 will gum it up. The grinding sound is probably due to a flat spot on the friction drive pulley-- it goes flat when the machine sits unused.
That model was late 50’s. Into 60’s , solid green was early 50’s . Beige was next version . Please save yourself some grief don’t use 3 in 1 oil , oil should be clear and very lite grade 00 . Singer stores have good oil . This is a full rotary bobin so is very smooth running . All Swiss Made units were quality . Not anymore .
Awesome video, I just got one of those machines in a flea market for $5 dollars and it runs like a champ 👍
Wonderful! Enjoy your machine!
Elna was located and designed in Switzerland so excellent quality . Now made one Asia Quality and design no longer very good 😢
Light pure ,00 is the weight or grade of oil , 3 in 1 gums up badly over time , 1 drop per marked in red on machine
Hey I have an Elna 3003, do you what year this machine was brought out?
You missed several oil spots... not good for the machine. I learned to sew on my Granny's, 1952 solid dark green Elna, I have a 1954 Tan Supermatic.
Never use 3 in 1 oil ! Should be 00 oil , gumes up after time pain to overhaul
Thanks for letting us all know!
