I think for the beef stew, you probably anticipated more Vietnamese flavors (like a bo kho) and when it tasted just like something you can have in the US, you were disappointed? The bun cha looks amazing and OMG, I'd be at that fried place all day every day! Her fried goods looks superb! The women of Hanoi are very beautiful as has been mentioned by others in the past.
I think it's ok to be honest about things you don't like. I guess food bloggers like you are afraid they may affect the businesses they review. But since you pointed out how popular it is with locals, it's all good. It's just a personal preference.
@@JJ-ym8bu and he is surely quite open minded when it comes to food. I would not try many of the dishes he does. I am not as adventurous in my food choices, especially when it comes to offals and unusual meat cuts.
@@Macoi24 to be honest, even before you eat it, I thought the beef soup does not looked appetizing to me. It looks like they added too much cornstarch to thicken up the stew.
It’s ok not to like something Max. I know exactly how wine sauce tasted from just looking at it. The only thing you have eaten that I actually know the taste. Now the last spot looked looked like the bomb damn it I’m jealous in a good way of course.

Ah tiện là e nói thật đồ ăn Hà Nội càng ngày càng công nghiệp, họ chú trọng tới số lượng chứ k phải chất lượng. Do người dân các nơi đổ về nữa, họ cũng rất dễ dãi với ẩm thực Hà Nội. Kiểu như khách chiều quán quá quán hư. Không như ở miền Trung và miền Nam, rất đậm vị và rất ngon. E ở HN 20 năm rồi mới vào SG đc 1 năm và e mê món ăn trong này cực kỳ vì ngon heeee

I love your honesty and the fact that you didn’t like the stew too much was because it didn’t have the Vietnamese flavour and was too western tasting. Your taste buds have become vietnamese all the way lol. And of course I’m always impressed with how much chilli you can eat. That bun cha Hanoi looked so good! 🤤

There's a misconception about slurping in Vietnam. It's considered bad eating habit when you slurp the noodles or make some sound, contradicting to other cultures like Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

hahah because that most western taste dish that you tried just doesn't taste much like usual Vietnamese food that's why you are not going to like it as much as others food . i'm Vietnamese but that dish does put me off as well it's not bad but the taste isn't that flavorful like a true true Viet's dish . but i'm sure there are tons of others Vietnamese will like it. there are always something for someone to like

Hey Max, I love fried sweet potato, and fried banana. These snacks are to die for......cannot wait to try them when i visit VN........Loved your works.
Talking about something you don't want to eat ....life in North America is so busy, my mom cooked 2-3 times a week, and those food stayed in the fridge for rotation, you see them again and again and again for that week, sometimes for 2 weeks if they're overcooked. I love the randomness you see on the streets of Vietnam, you craved something but by the time you hit the street you eat something else.

mình rất thích món SỐT VANG nhưng mình chưa từng thấy sốt vang ở đâu mà có nước sốt sệt sệt như này, không biết vị của nó thế nào nhưng quả thực nhìn cảm giác ngán ngán. Max không thích là chuyện bình thường nhưng lần sau hãy tìm 1 quán SỐT VANG khác nhé, đảm bảo Max sẽ thích khi tìm được món SỐT VANG đúng vị. SỐT VANG không chỉ ăn với bánh mì đâu mà còn có BÚN SỐT VANG, PHỞ SỐT VANG rất ngon nữa đó.

Món thịt bò sốt vang này là của Việt Nam nhé bạn. Ko phải nấu với rượu vang thì gọi là sốt vang đâu. Nấu chuẩn thịt bò sốt vang sẽ rất ngon nha.
