@@hardcutreviews it had the vibes of Small Soldiers and Virus, but the lack of polish and Zegler fucked it up. Hell, I did a better Y2K gig in my novel, including Commander Keen!
That is fair. She had definitely been around though in very big, yet forgettable, productions. Nobody cared until the Snow White controversy. We did not come down on her has hard as we wanted to. She’s there and it sucks, but her presence is not the biggest problem.
I saw these promotional Y2K designs on my instagram and Twitter feed, its felt so forced especially because the people involved are so unlikeable/uncharismatic.
As a former 90's kid i might watch this movie. Actual y2k hysteria was so crazy at time, people thought planes would fall out of the sky like it was the rapture or something, so anyway a horror comedy could be fun.. The zegler pink hat thumbnail is chef's kiss perfect.
Let’s circle back in March when Snow White comes out. We’ll be having a riveting conversation about her relevance after those box office returns come in.
There was this little gem from the 80s called Maximum Overdrive that did this concept 10 times better. But these zoomers wouldn't know anything about that 😏
Somewhere theres a good premise in here but as soon as I saw that trailer and those appliances form some cobbled together deadly thing, I immediately got deja vu from Small Soldiers with the commandos making war machines out of everday stuff and thought "thanks for reminding me of a better movie".
I'll be blunt. I don't give a shit about this movie. The parts of this video I enjoyed are you guys reminiscing and having laughs about pastimes in the 90s/2000s.
A list of better Y2K stories: - Angry Beavers - The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror segment “Life’s a Glitch, Then You Die” - The Simpsons musical episode The Star of the Backstage; yes, I’m counting this as a separate entry - King of the Hill - literally every movie made in 1999
Make a crappy movie and insert current year politics into past depiction. I'm so shocked by this. EDIT: Also, this movie already exists in a superior form: Small Soldiers (1998)
Another terrific review which had me laughing out loud, I’m curious was it Adam Sandler that introduced off screen heckling, or were its roots in the movie Airplane with Johnny make wild comments in the control tower, lol
Im the target 90s kid audience, i would look past aalllll the stupid shit, that director cracks me up in all his skits, but i am not going to watch zegler girlbossing. Never going to happen.
The first 30 minutes were fantastic...the last hour Jesus christ 😂 they used up all the good jokes in the first 40 minutes after that just downhill from there. Another great Hard Cut review. Also, give us Terrifier 3!!!!
I could have swore one of you guys were James Rolfe AVGN haha. But great review of the film and how this movie could have been better if it had more unknown, charming actors.
Oof. Zegler is arrogant and an average actress. She opens her mouth when she shouldn’t and as a result, her movies tank. Zendaya has a little more talent but she looks like a heroin addict in every role she plays. Don’t know who could possibly find her attractive. Honestly, Zegler might be more annoying just because we hear her opinions on things far more than Zendaya’s. These are the serious debates we need to be having on this channel.
Get a clue guys. Its not the wires. Its the circuit Boards. When you put electrical circuits on a board, something magical happens that they still haven't quite figured out to this day, and the piece of equipment involved, if it has a circuit board in it, is no longer an electrical Appliance but is an electronic Appliance. See the difference? Electrical versus electronic? The premise is that electronic equipment, whether or not it has a processor or any capability of working with data, has the potential to be transformed into an AI robot with the wonders of technological singularity consummating at the exact moment of a computer bug, or rather a glitch technically, going into effect, because as we all know, in the year 1900, artificial intelligence robots ruled the world, so when all of the electronics flip their calendar back to the year 1900, it's on like Donkey Kong
@@fredocorleone6043 I hope so too; The full cut was shown about a couple months ago at a pre-screening and yeah it was much more raunchier and violent but they toned it down for 🤷🏿♂️ probably for the same (unfortunate) reason being Gen Z and fear of offending people🤦🏿
How do you have a movie centered around the 90s but not have 90s stars like Sarah Michele gellar and David boreanz ! If that happened it would have been funny
Concept good. Zegler is just too distracting. She’s the worst. You can’t forget about her stupid, vapid opinions. This movie had to have been filmed before she decided to speak out publicly with her moronic takes. Why would anyone cast her at this point?
A 2024 film set in the 90's with modern sensibilities, say it ain't so, who would've thunk it, I don't know who is worse Zegler or Zendaya both painfully insufferable ;)
As someone who was born in 98, I appreciate the explanation; cause if I watched this movie without knowing I wouldn’t have understood the references. Haven’t seen it yet, maybe I’ll give it a shot
If Casting didn’t reach out to Sydney Sweeney, I don’t know what the fuck they’re doing
#missedopportunities
The worst part is, Y2K is a great concept. Too bad they used it on this manner, with Rachel Zegler :(
Started off solid but the lack of a fleshed out concept tanked it. And Zegler sucks.
@@hardcutreviews it had the vibes of Small Soldiers and Virus, but the lack of polish and Zegler fucked it up. Hell, I did a better Y2K gig in my novel, including Commander Keen!
A movie hitting all the best early 2000s slurs would make me smile. Those insults never killed anyone!
To be fair, when they would have cast Zegler, she wasn't all that well known. Her Infamy has really only come in the last 6-12 months.
That is fair. She had definitely been around though in very big, yet forgettable, productions. Nobody cared until the Snow White controversy. We did not come down on her has hard as we wanted to. She’s there and it sucks, but her presence is not the biggest problem.

The Simpsons Halloween did this.
That short-lived TV show Revolution was better than this.
Everything is better than this, lol.
I wouldn't recommend wasting money. The movie isn't even about Y2k
Basically the movie is just Zegler Queening on everyone. So just like real life.
Queening her way to box office failure. March can’t come soon enough. 🙌🏻

Correct, lol. Would much rather watch Emilio.
The director of the movie is not a zoomer
@malloryknox6802 Kyle Mooney, from SNL? Yeah I know he's not. I'm talking about this movie's target audience.
That Jonathan Frakes Fact or Fiction show from the late 90s was the bomb. Great reference!

Yeah. Unless you’re clamoring for serious 90’s nostalgia and half a decent coming-of-age film, don’t bother.
She might be the most egotistical and annoying actress working at the minute, I wonder why her movies never make money? 🤔
Even if you try you can’t look past who she is. It oozes out of her.
Weird. Weird. (Stupid head tilt)
Because she's sexy
@@Rabid4RachelOnly in a make believe fantasy land would anyone believe that Gal Godot would be jealous of a troll like Zegler.

Johnny from Airplane is a legend. There is also that great scene in Happy Gilmore when the guy heckles Happy during the Bob Barker tournament.
Millennial Overdrive
Maximum Deceleration.
