Well when someone spends more than 2million hard earned money then they look way beyond just this 400 metre drag race. Biggest problem with both Taigun & Kushaq is there size and looks. It’s more of extended hatch than SUV. Inside space, many feature(I can live with it but 90% won’t) is missing in Kushaq. I’d wait for this new Seltos for test crash rating, although new Verna scored a 5 star so hoping Seltos this time will improve. But being a Taigun owner I must tell you VW Taigun or for that matter Kushaq is not as well built as their previous cars like Vento or Polo. So many noises, rattles, cheap hard plastic and major fit and finish issues most of the owners are facing. Also limited service and that too is underwhelming. Than major drawback is its weak AC. I live in central India and here in summers temperatures can be 45 degree Celsius and weak AC on these Skoda VW group cars can really make you go nuts.

I driven both Verna 1.5 TGDi DCT and Virtus 1.5 TSI DSG. I can tell one thing the shifts speed are same. Verna's gear ratios are shorter than Virtus gear ratios. That's the only difference.

Even in the last drag race video, Saumil kept saying that the new Seltos was quicker because it has more horsepower than the older model, while in this video, he's wondering why the Seltos is slower inspite of having more horsepower than the Kushaq.

Power to weight has been specified. Seltos has 115bhp per tonne, compared to 114.5 of Kushaq. You're also wrong in undermining what half a second means in a drag race. That's a LOT of time margin for a short distance.
I knew that Kushaq will win it. Just because of the 1.5 TSi's calibration, that offers solid punch consistently. Shame that a 160 hp 1.5 Tgdi in Seltos couldn't cut it.
From the VW/Skoda engineering stand point as i explored. - The seating is designed as per the chasis to add more endurance that adds indirectly to the driving dynamics, stability and ensured safety not just head on collision but also side on, its not added because the vehicle buyer is looking for more space. - The Skoda and VW do not go even an MM beyond the standard engineering dynamics which adds to the cost. - The cost is also importantly high because Skoda is a Skoda as they don't comprise on the built and material, though many have told them to localise. They prefer to import the chasis as the strength of the steel they did not want to comprise and the engine is not a copy paste and is refined as the best in class in compared to the world standards @2:12 - It has GNCAP of adult as well as Child first in India (While others only now a days are mentioning about child safety which obviously they did not had ) - The features they offer are only surrounding thier engineering and they just dont keep adding nonsense. - As a brand VW group is largest group even when you combine all the manufacturing companies in India, it has a depth in engineering hence takes time and do not rush. - I will be very disappointed if they dont make what they are making today and comprise just because someone have comments on their price and features or to catch up sales figures. - some last min question that all need to consider is why does VW/Skoda cycle of service of the vehicle is beyound other car manufacturer companies. For example skoda/vw are asks in the intervals of 15k kms where as others are at 10k. also the mileage is more than any other in its segment how? its enginnering. Even the paint quality of the cars is so premium after 10 years, this can be tested out. any many more... - The ratlles and others are ignorable in comparision to the paramount important point "SAFETY", when some one in the car is not safe nothing else matters really. - Only a crash would show what they are made of as the real engineering of a car is not to be vulnarable to accidents itself as the driving responsiveness and dynamics will safeguard the car itself and no luxury features are needed which are cosmetics. - I strongly believe in the coming days as the mindset and knowledge of the buyers evolve they will realise what product VW/Skoda are bringing and eventually gain more traction. ** I do respect every other car manufacturer, they are doing their best. But from an engineering stand point VW/Skoda are the best !!
Switch to sports mode in that seltos and see the DCT do it's magical thing. It pull like a beast. Evidently the seltos was in normal mode and perhaps quick shifting hence not being able to build that compression to pull from the next gear. The dct gear box in seltos is tuned down for longetivity in eco and normal mode. Switch to sports mode next time. Or even better.. Take manual controls through paddles, just the way the skoda driver was engaging. You will see that extremely refined new tgdi engine in seltos kick in some serious punch once it shifts closer to 6k rpm. I am no fan boy here. I own the new facelift X-line dct and I have had more than enough drives in my friends kushaq to tell which engine performs better if pushed to it's potential. The ride quality of kushaq again is better as compared to the stiff low speed rumble creeping in from those gas suspension of the kia.. However it helps the kia handle the body roll well if not better than the kushaq.. Just an opinion. No offense to any kia or skoda fan!

i think the problem is in tyres cause seltos is offered with 18 inch tyres.kushaq is in 17 inch tyres and on the other hand 2023 seltos was offered with 17 inch tyres and less weight

The kushaq will win you drag races. The seltos will ensure you drive the car and the car not lie in the service centre or garage for multiple spare parts failure especially the gear box
I drove both, Engine on seltos is Wayy better tbh. 1.5 TSI feels dead below the turbo zone and isn't fun in moderate traffic.. Seltos pulls hard from get go.. feels so much more fun and lively. drag race is pretty close tbh but the experience is completely different.

Tuning matters..Kia looks like tuned more conservatively to protect the gear box. My pick will be the Virtus 1.5 it's pocket rocket.

i think the problem is in tyres cause seltos is offered with 18 inch tyres.kushaq is in 17 inch tyres and on the other hand 2023 seltos was offered with 17 inch tyres and less weight
At the end of drag race both car met with accident, seltos won and went to heaven

I had to go back to earlier drag races of taigun by auto car India , last race with virtus it clocked ~17.28 but here it performs better , I don’t know what could be the reason??? If any one has knowledge , please enlighten me

I drove both, Engine on seltos is Wayy better tbh. 1.5 TSI feels dead below the turbo zone and isn't fun in moderate traffic.. Seltos pulls hard from get go.. feels so much more fun and lively. drag race is pretty close tbh but the experience is completely different.
Why not put the seltos in sports mode? It makes one hell of a difference
