Finally sitting down to play with the Himi watercolour I won on your live. Feeling down, darkness of this time of year plus other stresses. Time to have some creative play and listen to your videos. Merry Christmas my friend, thank you for all you do, I appreciate you. ❤❤❤
I heard from an artist on soc media that they thought watercolor papers developed in the Asian market/traditions have more texture than Western papers. So the 100% cotton CP is a little more like our 'rough.' I am not sure if that is true or if that includes HP paper, too. Have you noticed a difference with Baohong, Potentate versus Arches, other Western trad brands, Thrifty?
@@Cali_Flowers Yes the hot pressed is really growing on me. I can see me using it for many different projects. When it comes to 100%cotton paper (if it really is) there aren’t many difference between the brands. I personally think Arches is a great paper. Maybe a bit overrated, but a great paper nonetheless. I personally like the Baohong better. Close to Arches just not as sized in my opinion.
@@thethriftyapprenticeOh thanks, that's interesting! So maybe the Baohong absorbs more the way it is sized. Either way cotton seems to be king! But what about your sugar paper review? I can't wait for that one!
Hey! Is this the first 'portrait' you've done for your channel, Thrifty? Maybe this gnome's nose just broke the ice on painting 'human-like beings' for you, lol! Plus, there was your snowman last week. Is it just me or are you are getting closer and closer to your portrait goal? 🫢🎉
@@Cali_Flowers Hmmm you just might be right my friend. I am slow rolling into doing them, but it seems to be happening. I actually really enjoyed both painting. This may be the start to something great! 😂
I think so!! You are growing as an artist! And the gnomes could help it happen, lol! ✨ What if you keep going with mash-ups that aren't quite human? The Jolly Green Giant is part plant, isn't he? 😂 I think it is easier and fun to go mythical!
This was a super fun demo, and review!
I ordered some before the video ended. I am excited to try this. The colors look so rich on it. Thumbs up & shared!
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing!
@@jc1865 Thank you for dropping a comment, and coming by to support.
Most watercolorists seem to prefer cold press, but personally, I really like how smooth paint looks on hot press paper. So clean looking!
Great review
Thank you!

No, I’m sorry, the rainbow bowtie was painted off screen. Thank you for stopping by.
