Distracted driving accidents have been growing steadily for the past decade. I mean, "It's almost there" doesn't really cut it when a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorcyclist is killed, does it?
It does if it’s safer per mile than a human. The idea that you’re comparing distracted driving (where the driver isn’t paying attention) to a car that can drive itself (when the driver is forced to pay attention) is a little odd.
@@prndlcars , please enlighten us. Where are the stats that say Tesla FSD is safer per mile than a human? Even without FSD, Tesla has the highest fatality rates over all other cars right now. Unless there is a sign saying No Turn on Red, you are allowed to turn after yielding. So the FSD acted correctly imo as I don't see a sign in the still.
At 1:38:11 when you grabbed the wheel I was wondering what would have happened if you didn't intervene? Would it have hit that black car on your right?

I live next door to the state house and tested FSD about 6 months ago on many of the same streets for weeks. Some of my disengagements were caused by not feeling safe enough when a hazard appeared. Maybe FSD would properly avoid a crash, but it seemed too risky to take the chance. There was more stress using FSD than driving without it. Possibly our comfort factor expands over time when we trust it more. Is anyone else stressed-out using FSD?
If this autopilot finds a way to avoid potholes and other holes that are everywhere in Boston, I'm 100% buying this car haha. Now I'm almost 85% buying it just because of this autopilot test. Great video ;)
I was wary at first because there is no true sentience and only optical cameras. But hey, if FSD is finally mature enough then I say the regulators should allow it on all vehicles as long as the technology meets a certain standard. Because there will be competition using their own version of FSD.
Please put in your pinned notes which mode you’re driving in, ie. Aggressive mode? Also, FSD should always right on red if allowed. Maybe you’re not in aggressive mode. System fallers should have hard coded into the chip to find a place to park or safely stop.

Progress for sure. I don't see the value in having self driving that may need an intervention at any moment. Seems worse than driving. But I realize this is what's needed to get to full automation.
It should automatically raise the suspension more into high or even very high while traveling city streets and when approaching speed bumps or when they are in the course of navigation.
I didn’t always want to listen to your educational content,so what I REALLY wanted, was a concise conclusion at the end of your video. It was disappointing that you didn’t add up all of the interventions, and make a conclusion based on that, and your experience driving a Tesla with other FSD hardware or software versions. I’m not complaining so much as helpful information.
I dont see the driver having his hand on the wheel very often. I own a 2021 Plaid w FSD and I need to touch the wheel often or the car warns me. Does the newest version not require touching the wheel often?
Nope, the new version of FSD doesn't require it as long as the in-car camera can see the driver! As long as you watch the road, you don't have to touch the wheel. (Not 100% sure that your car has the interior camera but I'm pretty sure it does?)
It's an amazing piece of technology but it's still very much fully supervised driving. I have on this software for many years and I rarely turn it on except on the highway. Driving on City streets is slow and inefficient and sometimes dangerous with FSD. There is a lot of hype behind it, but when the rubber meets the road it's not a useful thing right now. Who knows how many years it will take to get it to a point where it's useful and feel safe.
Even with some errors, it's still impressive technology !! Unfortunately, the way the roads and crazy situations come up, I can't imagine it ever being totally hands-free.
@@kevinlucas8437 it’s so much better than it was. Smoother and smarter. Just a matter of time, but if conditions are unsafe, they are wha they are. When the sun is shining directly in my face and I can barely see the system confirms it can’t see either. Right now it makes better decisions than a human most times so it’s like having two good drivers in the car at once. For my drives I probably take over 2-3 times every couple of hours and that’s generally to avoid debris in the road because it will drive very centered or to the other side away from large trucks. I will also take over to be a bit more courteous to other drivers. It was better than 90 year old drives. Now it’s at least on par with teen drivers.
Do you have a drifting issue when on the hiway? I almost got hit by a Tesla on rt 2 west the other day. I could see the driver did not have his hands on the wheel and he drifted to where the tires were on my line. Didn't quite cross the line but it went all the way covering the far edge of the line and then veered back to the left fairly abruptly over correcting a bit. Also going 53 in the middle lane of a 55.
I've been using FSD for the last two years and I can point to many instances in which it works but I'm also very aware the limits and failures. The fundamental problem is coexisting with human. FSD has no awareness of people giving directions or their expectations of other cars. It gets completely befuddled by signs whether a simple no turn on red and "turn after a stop on red" or, worse "no turn on red between 6AM and 8PM". A car flashing its lights is meaningless. My who doesn't even use FSD gets slammed by phantom breaking -- even with the latest build. And emergency vehicles ... Try driving in downtown Boston on a snowy day when the car thinks you're underground. FSD has improved and I do use but driving isn't getting it right 90% or even 99% but 100% with situational awareness. But it's important to get past the novelty excitement and understand the limits in the real world and why trying to solve FSD In isolation rather than thinking of transportation as a system is simplistic. FSD is amazing but so is so much other technology
Doing any driving in Boston is a challenge. I just wonder how well it would do in heavy traffic with rude Mass drivers who try hard not to let you merge into a lane, say, in real life, you tend to almost force your way in. Wonder how AI deals with stuff like that.

Did you have to step on the gas or breaks anytime in the 2 hrs?
20:40 car waits for pedestrian to touch the sidewalk lol...
Can it do a left turn on a busy ave with no signal?, or it makes all rights on that situation?
Imagine how much nicer and safer drives would be if all the cars worked together using this system?
How well does it do at night?
Does it make effort going around potholes? It’s important driving in Boston.
No, it doesn’t .
Love it that content 😊❤
3:50 its driving you. relax. you will reach your target.
this intervention is like telling the taxi driver where to go
Sadly, Fenway Park causes much agitation lately
Was the car able to avoid speed bumps and pot holes?
Can FSD go 5mph above the speed limit like a person?
what an amazing car
God bless you man
How does it know who is the good driver to learn from and who is the bad driver to not learn from?
Incredible
Doing any driving in Boston is a challenge. I just wonder how well it would do in heavy traffic with rude Mass drivers who try hard not to let you merge into a lane, say, in real life, you tend to almost force your way in. Wonder how AI deals with stuff like that.
