Man! Personally I'm not gigging, and not playing guitar outside of my little house, I'm not loaded with cash.....but holy smoke...I really want a fractal product!!!! They sound amazing! And seem so user friendly.
@@LeonTodd Wallet says no at the moment but definitely going to give it a proper look in the new year before getting back on the road. Was considering a move to the Kemper stage over the rack but this is suddenly a real contender! 👀
Hi Leon, Thank you for all your informative videos about the Fractal! Your videos have convinced me to switch from the Headrush to Fractal. One question: What are we hearing in your videos? Is it direct input or into a cab with a mic? Usually, I've been using my Headrush with an amp and NO cab through the Power Amp of a Fender tube amp. Do you have any experience with how this sounds with Fractal or what the best solution is if you want to go through the power amp?
I think this is the direction for me to go for my new recording and gigging rig. I have my FM3. And it's cool, but I am tired of it topping out, simply using the high resolution versions of the reverbs and cabinets with my very basic preset setups. It has a great basic sound, and the Fractal processing and layout is great. It's an awesome all in one unit, but not enough. It doesn't have enough processing and switches. I don't think I need an AXE-FX III and Matrix, Furman rack unit to haul around. And the extra capability it has to the FM9. Plus needing an FC-12 to go with it. Maybe down the road, but not now. Not unless I start playing really big shows again. I think an FM9 and a good FRFR cabinet or two should do what I need. And Leon's awesome videos and advice have helped convince me. Thank you Leon. 👍
@@LeonTodd I have no doubt you are absolutely on to something. Such a lightweight rig, will be wonderful with the capability. I wonder if I need the FM3 once I get an FM9. But it might be good to have both. The FM3 as a back up. I think they both could be a valuable commodity in the future.
Do you play through foh live or at a venue, do you play through a cabinet with a power amp, if so what do you use for power and cab. What does everyone else use for a live show situation
Well done LT! The Amazing versatility of Fractal Gear seems to be a very Personal user experience! It's definitely much more expandable than similar " Signature " Gear! Enjoy your Show! Thanks for sharing Brother! Be Well All!
Question sir? If I played straight thru the PA with the FM9, would the sound still be as rich and full as it sounds through the studio monitors I am listening to you in now?
Hey Leon, big fan. My FM9 arrives in few days. Can you do a video for us who are not fractal users on how you setup your FM9 out if the box. How to update it, any quick tricks you do or did on input / output global settings..ect.
Hi Leon if you can add this topic to your list. “How to setup a Helix Snapshot scenario in the FM9”. I hear that scenes are the way to go, but others are suggesting some scene parameters override some scene properties. So it’s difficult to do with scenes. I gig live and need a preset to contain modifications that suit changes for intro, verse, chorus, solo, outro etc. Easily done in Helix but does the FM9 offer a similar solution to allow these requirements for playing live.
Hey Leon. The videos of the fm9 I've watched. I took notice there noise sometimes. Something with the sound that cuts in and out. I dont know if you are aware of it. In this video one example is at 9:26. Other wise sounds great as always..
I've re-watched that chord a dozen times now and it's just the way I play that chord - a low power chord followed by the open b and fret 5 on the third string, which creates a super dissonant flat-9 interval. I do it in a few Ragdoll songs so it's very much intentional.
@@LeonTodd all your tones are very nice and clear. Its almost as of they are on a neutral or flat response platform/speaker. I'm thinking of taking the plunge in the amp modeling market as I'm seeking as much information as possible. I really appreciate your time to respond. Take care
Looks like in Australia there is no chance to buy one of these units any time soon. I really want to upgrade to an FM9 from my Helix and just keep the Helix for backup and gig with the FM9. The Australian dealer has nothing to sell.
Everyone knows trhses things can do heavy metal. Chimy transparent overdrive I have never seen one yet that doesn't sound fake. Can we have some videos demonstrating the range of low to medium transparent overdrive please?
They all talk how great modelers are but if you go to any big shows they are using modelers with tube amps together to me that sounds stupid if you computers not doing it for ya then why have them on stage just use the tube amps and be done with it lot of bands going back to tube amps
I know what channel I'll be visiting when my FM9 arrives! 🙌
I can't wait to hear you play through it!
Great job, showing using the front panel. So used to people showing the editor so much.
I'll never ever get used to the variations on the intro lol
Awesome display of the tweakability and comfort of use of the FM9
Yeah I think at least once a week I think "that would be a funny way to change it up"

Gigging the FM9 with in-ears and a dual guitar bag is the an amazing amount of flexibility and tone to have on your shoulders!

What are you using for a cab when you play live? My band we are not going thru the pa w instruments Thanks
We use in-ears, so i just plug directly into the PA

Straight into the board. We usually use in ears and the in house monitors

Play this recording through the PA and that's what the Fm9 will sound like! There's no post processing on this.

Any chance for a Neural DSP Quad Cortex vs Fractal Audio FM9 video..? 🍻

Hello Leon. I was wondering if your sound comes from a mic/cab or are am I hearing your sound through studio monitors? Wonderful sounds I must say!!!
I take the direct out, so what you're hearing would be the same as if you plugged the FM3 straight into whatever speakers you're listening on

Well, there’s always reverb but the prices are stupid.

I enjoyed hearing those tweaks, making the sound better. Can the FM9 function like a soundcard? Where you monitoring through studio monitors, Leon?
Yes it's a USB interface. Playing through monitors here

That tone at 11:30 is beautiful
Thanks! We ended up convinving one of the bar staff up to do "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac last night and that scene ended up saving the day.
