Can I just say thank you. I wish I saw this before I parked in the multi story. I didn't do terribly my first park was bad but my colleagues said they had seen worse and I was in the bay just parked diagonal . My colleague said she would help me if I could not get out but did fine. Very reluctant to drive theses days though.
They can be a bit scary. Thank you for your comment
Tanks for teaching us useful information, most driving instructors leave students high and dry without giving them advice on everyday situations. I passed my test a month ago and would never have known how to park in these correctly, thanks very much
Thank you for watching and safe driving
For some reason this video made me think of when Mr Bean went to extraordinary lengths to get out of that multi-story carpark with out paying.
That’s Funny
I've been driving four years still haven't gone in a multi storey car park. Think i'll watch this video first.
Excellent
Thanks! I was so scared of multiple multi story car parks until I seen this ! Thank you so much car park wizard 🧙♀️ don’t quit the day job
Happy to help. Safe driving
I would love to see you do a video on road rage and inform new drivers on how to keep cool and deal with other people's idiocy at the same time.
Sounds like a future video
This is funny. I have been using all the car parks in the centre apart from these two. The new one will be my next venture. Thanks for showing us around.
A lot of modern multi-storeys run on a timed ticket on entry. Paying for parking often at "Pay Stations" in the shopping mall or at the different parking levels in the car park. Often the first 30 mins is free parking mainly in case there are no spaces. Ground floor is always popular as you can go down the High Street without using lifts or stairs. In large mall multi-storeys it might say Shops Level 5 in which case that level will be popular. It will have disabled and family spaces there and if they operate a "Shopmobility" electric scooter hire place the HQ will be near the shops entrance at that level. Checking on line for Shopmobility for where you are travelling to is prudent. Excellent video.
Great comment
Hey thank you ever so much for your advice on second test nerves , really helped as I managed to pass my test yesterday with 2 minors so thank you ever so much 😊
Yet another useful and interesting video on your channel. Excellent support for new drivers. Thank you.
Thank you
When looking for spaces you typically follow a route which keeps leading you to the next highest level. There are usually spaces if you turn off and go up a side "street" as fewer people go down there.
If you drive to the top deck on a multi-storey car park your forward/reverse bay park is not that different from more usual car parks. The main difference is parking on an intermediate storey. You seem to feel it is a bit odd bay parking "indoors". To some extent driving around inside a building seems strange and closed in. In reality they are never spacious.
I really wish I saw this video before I went into my first multi storage car park. I had my first accident yesterday because I went up the ramp in 2nd gear, then quickly changed to 1st because the engine was struggling and then I rolled back into another car behind me. Luckily nobody was harmed but there was a massive crack on the back of my car which will cost me a fortune to repair. I have also lost all of my confidence in driving and I really don't like it anymore.
Safe try to hear about your experience. But look at this as experience and become better.

@@JamesTravis thank you I definitely will be watching more of these
Goodness yes! First channel i came across for "post passing practice" I'm going to dig deep in your channel.
Thanks for the helpful advise! :-)
Check out the playlist lists on driving alone or after you pass.
@@JamesTravis thank you sir, I shall do just that!
I've got me eye on a choice rude but the snag is its 66 miles away from home.... I'm fairly confident in my skills having already been taken to the motorway a few times during lessons but the information you provide here is literal gold.
Again,many thanks 😊🙏
I found this video by accident. I was looking at something unrelated.
You are a Saint for this video!
Happy it helped
Thank you so much! I passed test several years ago but never had to use a multi story car park until recently. I freaked out, I couldn't reach the barrier so had to get out of the car for the ticket. Then every space was full so I had to drive right up to the top. Also it was so dark inside I could barely see (daytime). My instructor never covered multi stories
Thank you for watching.
Most instructors never do anyway. I guess you are mainly taught to pass with basic skills and the rest you pick up with experience
Really good video. You can be quite nervous when entering a car park. Useful video
Doing this today. Thank you. Wish you were always in the car with me whenever i drive
Thank you and safe driving
I wish everyone on the roads drove like you mate
Thanks
I enjoyed this way more than I thought
thank you for watching
I passed in October. My work car park is multistorey. I drove up the ramp and had to put my hand break on. Its scarey.

Dangerous place to drive them multistory carparks, surprised there aren't more accidents to be honest.
I agree
All I need to know and see how it's like to drive in parking like this , Thanks
Thank you, I have almost stopped driving as I have not been shown to park in multi stories,
I am struggling with reversing into bays, I am disabled and scared I seem to have lost my skills for parking,.
Happy you have found my videos. Safe driving.
5 months later and a scratch in my car and I still brick it but much better. The multi story is the only place we can park at the moment as the wider ones are having some work done during lock down😲. During the week day I can use a nice flat level. And see my car from the fourth floor.
Keeping an eye on your car whilst working.
@@JamesTravis I was joking. My car is safer in a hospital car park then a side road.
I am newly passed my driving test but very scared of using multi-storey car parks due to several reasons. I don’t know how to use those ticket machines in entry and exits. Can you please do a video on how to use different entries, exits and paying machines. Basically I am avoiding driving in city centres. 😢
Try this one
th-cam.com/video/ccUeOR4rBMc/w-d-xo.html
U know when u took the ticket and u supposed to pay on your way out but I didn't see u using your card or paying cash? How did u pay?
You put the ticket in the payment machine and pay. Then go to your car and present the ticket on the way out.
Other car parks have different ways. Hope that helps
My first time parking in a garage lot I almost hit the barrier cuz I let go of the brake because I couldn’t reach for my ticket 😅
Got to be careful
You could skip a few of those steps of you put a couple magnets under the bike.
Thanks
I don't get it. At what point did you pay to park in the second car park? And what were you required to do with the ticket you were given on the way in? I'm confused.
Hi, the second car park was a modern build. I parked up the car at 13.20 and paid for the ticket just before I left car park.
The camera recognition system on this car park raised the exit barriers as I approach the exit. Hope that helps
@@JamesTravis So....you take a ticket from a machine at the entrance barrier....then you park the car and walk off, keeping the ticket in your pocket....then you return to the car park and put your ticket in a machine of some kind? And it tells you how much to pay? And then you pay and get given your ticket back? And then you drive home? (I've never used a multi-storey car park, so I don't have the first clue about all this, see. )
That’s what you do in that one. Some car parks you pay after entering and display your ticket.
@@JamesTravis Many thanks for feeding me the facts, O Mighty One, and for making the video too. Massive respect.
Today I scraped my car against the wall trying to get in to a tight spot in a multi storey parking spot. I dont know what made me go in to it..i just wanted to tell you that Travis :') Iwas very upset at first but slowly getting over it. Just worried it will scar my confidence on the road
Sorry to hear.
@@JamesTravis I got back in the car today and I feel better actually I feel like it needed to happen.
Safe driving
I’m struggling so much with tight turns. I just can’t seem to get the angle right
I would try slowing your car down more. This will give you more time to turn
Learn-to-drive Travis thank you ✨
Only learnt to drive 5 years ago at age 61 passed first time. I am described as 'a good little driver' but there are so many things they should teach you. I have to do this next Saturday, a week before Christmas and I am dreading the first time. Going the right way, the narrow turns and paying for the ticket, do you need the right change? These are all concerns of mine but you have helped me loads. It seems the moral of the story is go S L O W L Y. Thanks
Good luck and stay safe
How and when did you pay gent??? Thx anyhow
I payed at the machine before I exit car park.
Are multi story car parks really popular in MK?
There are not many of them.
Man I scraped my car on my first time in a car park, rip £800
They can be tight places to drive
I did that today :( how did you do yours?
5:41 I found a space.
Oh yes, thanks
Hahaha get it up ye my dad was parked in the multi story afore ye
Lol
If you end up in a multi story carpark here’s a thing to do: let people out, otherwise you’ll never get a space.
