  • Until a few weeks ago, Saturn was the planet with more moons, totaling 83. However, it was dethroned when 12 new moons were discovered orbiting Jupiter, making Jupiter the planet with more moons. But, Saturn is much smaller than Jupiter and still has many objects orbiting around it. What mysteries do Saturn's moons hide?
    Let's find out!
Although the current count of satellites around Saturn totals 83, the reality is that this number is still open to debate. The largest satellite is Titan, the only satellite in the solar system with an atmosphere containing substances in a liquid state. There is also Enceladus, a satellite that could have an ocean of liquid water beneath its ice sheets.
How many types of satellites are there?
    1. The Pastors satellites
    2. Co-orbital satellites
    3. Large inner moons
    4. Alkyonid satellites
    5. Moons of Troy
    6. Large outer moons
    7. Irregular Moons
    8. Inuit Group
    9. Gallic Group
    10. Nordic Group (or Phoebe)

Titan has got to be the coolest/interesting satellite in our solar system. Plus the view from titan would be phenomenal!

Too thick of atmosphere to see through from the surface of titan. A lot of the images used to show titan are of the infrared spectrum. It would he physically impossible to see Saturn from titan. But the idea is pretty cool to think about. Maybe there are windstorms or seasons on titan that thin out the clouds to see though go Saturn.

Meteors can be as small as your palm, and as big as a car. most of these named moons are ethier medium (5-10km) sized asteroids, large ones (25-100km) or small spheres with the exeption of titan, wich is literaly saturnian world

Life or not it's already fascinating enough that currently Titan is the only celestial body beside Earth to have visible liquid on it's surface, be it liquid methane and ethane it doesn't matter. It's already amazing. Just like when I saw some sand dunes on Mars it's already stunned me help me realise how common some features can be and made me realise that what we see on Earth can be possible on other places is enough to appreciate humanity's achievement.

The ring system of Saturn would not be visible in the skyline of anything orbiting Saturn because they would be edge-on with those rings.

Superb video, catagorising the moons of Saturn. 11:27, Titan has an atmosphere denser than Earth's (forget Mars). Indeed , in terms of mass, it has more gas in its atmosphere than the Earth. It has a s surface pressure of about 1,500 mb, 1.5 x higher than Earth.

If there are 83, do we really want to call alll of them "moons"? Toss out the nonspherical ones!

    • @avsrule247
      @avsrule247 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes, a moon is simply a term to describe a natural satellite of a planet. "The Moon" is what we have chosen to call our natural satellite (hardly anyone calls it "Luna" in regular speech")
