I changed my spark plugs, coils and changed my oil on my 2002 Avalon for the first time. Thank you for having these videos. They gave me the confidence to do it! The back ones are tuff but just take your time
Thanks Hector , what patience ! I have a beautiful 2004 Florida Avalon xls with 66000mi . -- And I use to think it was tough replacing 8 plugs on my 74 Imperial --- lol !!
Great explanation. I just completed changing my 1, 3 & 5 cylinder plugs and coil packs. The only additional thing I did was to remove the hood. Removing the hood only involved 4 bolts, 2 small hood shock mounting clamps (1 per shock) and disconnecting the washer hose. This only took 5 additional minutes and it made the entire job much, much easier with the greatly improved access.
The more I watch spark plug replacement videos, I just tell myself to pay someone else for the headache. I know my way around tools but I don't want the frustration right now lol
Man damn good info! I’m doing the bank 1 oil control valve and cylinder one coil!! Thank you for the info and smart man for putting the cracked one in the front!!
i got misfire on 1, 3, 5, but i am hopeing it is the vct (oil control valve) i do not have the patience for the back ones. i will have to pay someone to do that
Hey, i know it’s quite late but just wondering what that hose is ( the one near oil filler cap connected horizontally onto the top of the engine) actually mine was disconnected and i had a lot of shaking and misfire so i tested it myself and it was disconnected even the mechanics were unable to figure it out as they say it was vvt ( oil control valves)
P0303 is a misfire code which definitely can happen from a bad coil. I recommend replacing iridium spark plugs, wires, and coil packs every 100,000 miles.
@@aron352352 I purchased spark plugs that are already gab. Absolutely it should be torque. I myself has been doing it for a while, so I can feel I much it should be.
Thanks for the Great Video Sir! I just did the spark plugs on my 2000 avalon xls. I watched another yt vid saying to remove the whole intake from manifold. I found your video too late... 😤.. But you left out the hugest hurdle.. How did you remove that bolt from that flat bracket in back next to cylinder 1? That was my issue. What tool did you use? It's a terrible spot for a bracket and bolt. I also broke my pcv valve trying to remove to replace it. Now to harbor freight for cheap tools for one time use.. LOLOL Keep these Avalon Video coming.. Mine has 93000 miles and things are breaking.. 👍👍👍

4 cylinders are much easier. 🔧
This is the best explanation I have ever watched, thank you bro, I will try to change the coils and spark plugs
Tomorrow,
Thank you. I appreciate it your comment 🔧
I changed 1 spark plug and my car runs completely different. Thanks for the help
You're welcome👍
Don’t know how in the world you was able to change the spark plugs back there I will have been thinking twice especially in this weather👏👏
It was cold but I was trying to do it before the storm hit. I did it. I think the camera was more cold then me. lol
If all of the coils are cracked you may get P0300 through P0306 codes (misfire codes) depending on the severity of the crack.
Good work Hector.
I was waiting for someone to answer the question for me. Thank you! 007 to the rescue.
Doing the knock sensors (a pain in the you know what) right now so I may as well do these spark plugs while everything is disassembled. Great vid man!
I haven't done the knock sensor. I will keep in mind what you said. Thank you for watching. I appreciate it🛠
My dude. This video is incredibly helpful. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Thank you for this vid, it's priceless.
My pleasure!

Same.
Thank you ..you did a great job pissed about the needle too!
Thank you.
Well explained, thank you. Hope you and your family stay safe especially from those syringes that could harm young children like your daughter
@@kenjijazzlynkekoanui4185 Thank you
That toyota logo on top actually acts like a screw. You can turn it to loosen the cover, then u can remove its covering.
Thank you👍
I needed this video thanks

I can't seem to get the back ones off. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the proper tools.
The back one are a little tuff but it can be done with the proper tools.
Good video Hector.
FWD V-6's are tough for plugs...
Thank you. They are sure tough plugs.

I so sorry I don't remember.
Excellent video,I'm about to tackle this myself :(
You can do it. Take your time. Let me know how it goes.
Mine just started misfiring ( cylinder 5 an 6 ). Bought new plugs. Hopefully when i get to change them the coils are messed up. They are $78 each
Let me know how it goes🔧

You absolutely correct. Thank you.
Should of set the gap on them plugs? And use a troque wrench?

I'm sure if you had the tools you would have been able to do this job👍.
@@NoneMechanic101 ya I would just to have a go at it. I love working on cars
@@mariusalexandru7141 👊
They sure don't make it easy to get to those back spark plugs. What would cause all the back coils to crack?
I believe the coils crack because they never have been change and also because of the heat. This car has almost 180,000 miles on it.
@@NoneMechanic101 and those engines get hot no doubt, they cook oil
Those cracked coils need to be replaced for sure. you make your videos with your phone and not a camera?
A 6 coil pack is 225.00 dollars. I use my camera. I don't know what happen all 3 of mine battery die on me.☹
@@NoneMechanic101 cold weather kills batteries. Maybe check craigslist used auto parts for her year of car and find them cheaper.
@@Iseekoutthetruth I'm going to call the junk yard see what they have.
NoneMechanic101 At Rockauto the coils are 20-50 a piece.
Thank you sir for the video.
Don't you want to replace the oil cap to prevent debris from getting in?
Yes, you should always put the oil cap back on to prevent debris from getting in. Thank you.
Thanks for the information 👍👍🍺🍺
You're so very welcome👍🔧

Random question but does the 2001 xls have a gas tube flap on top? You know.. Where you push gas pump in, is there a flap the pushes down?
To be honest. I don't remember🤷

OK.. Thanks.. Hopefully somebody else can chime in

Ye I know🤦♂️
It is hard enough to work on cars now a day, but now the phone batteries, lol What next. I hope you get a better place to move to Hector.
I used the camera. It was eating the battery up.
Code P0330 on 2001 Avalon w/ 286k miles. It's either spark plugs, (cracked) ignition coils, or...oxygen sensor? LUV ur video!! thank you!
Thank you for watching.
Do you have fb or anything I could send you some pictures on? I got some misfire codes but yet the shop told me I just need to replace spark plugs?

Thanks Mate...
You're welcome!
Wouldn't it make the job easier to remove the intake manifold?
It probably would have made it easier
Great job!!
Thank you!
I would have moved all coils in the front to the rear to replace the cracked ones. That way it;s easier to replace if the cracked ones are bad.
Thanks👍
You from new York?
Yes. I'm
Could you tell by the coat or the accent? Lol

Bosch plugs are really bad I would use ngk or denso for Toyota
You are the second person that has said this. NGK will be my choice. Thanks
@@NoneMechanic101 ngk is the best😎

NGK all the way! They are rated # 1. You pay a couple of bucks more for each plug, but they are definitely worth it
I want to be your neighbor 😅we could do some projects
@@nazarettos6987 Believe me I have a lot of projects
You may be great at replacing spark plugs - but you need a lesson in taking covers off. The Toyota emblem screws off.
Yes you're correct. I messed up🤦
Cracked coil is a bad coil. Replace it 100
Thank you
