I am a.stay at home mom and have loved making jewelry when I was younger but always wanted to be able to create something more than just your craft store special. You have inspired me to dive back in and use my creativity once again. The idea for a beginner kit is amazing. Especially for those of us who may not know exactly what we are looking for or how to source the materials needed. I am officially subscribed and will be following along with your journey to learn how to take the next steps on mine. Thank you for your willingness to share your love of creating something beautiful with us!
Hi April, thanks for your lovely message! I'm so glad you are feeling inspired again! That makes me very happy to hear! If you have Instagram and want to connect there, I'm @mcjewellery - my jewellery account and @megancollins.co - for my coaching account. Would be happy to help if you have any questions along the way. So excited for you!! 🙌☺️
Hiya Megan, although I'm well beyond needing the kit, I think it is a perfect idea as it will help so many people at the start of this journey to get the tools that are needed and that work. Great design. As you filed off the corners after sawing you could file off the corner where you start sawing before you saw as this will give you a flat, straight edge to cut into instead of a slope and you need to file off the corner anyway. Stay safe, Steve...
Thanks Steve, yes I was thinking it might be useful for those just starting out as sometimes the idea of all the tools you need can be off putting. Sounds like you had some good skills already. ;)
@@megan.collins I had, I also made up multi-core microphone cables for a sound company, hundreds of soldered joints, but with an electric soldering iron at much lower temps, but manipulating small wires was good practice.
Useful video, thanks Megan. Bit late now it is two years later but, I think the it is a good idea as it will include what YOU consider essential. I wouldn't include silver stock as it would make the price higher and he silver price is so volatile. All the best guys.
Hi Moe, I usually just use store bought ones to save time. But if you want to make your own, you would use 0.8 mm silver wire. To make the little groove, you need to hold the wire in a ring clamp and use a triangular needle file to create the groove. I might make a video sometime, but hope that's helpful for now. 😉

The Christmas tree analogy for the blade is a perfect memory device. Thanks!
Hahaha! I always say that in beginners classes and it seems to help them remember. 😋
I'm your biggest fan. The kit is a fab idea. Your jewellery is so inspired! 💛
Thanks so much!! You are too kind! Glad you like the kit idea! 🤗

Great video! I’d like to buy the complete kit to make the same earrings !
Glad you found it interesting! Thanks so much for your feedback! It's definitely an idea that's in the works! 😉

I have a question that I have not seen anyone else address.
After you solder the posts on presumably they are annealed?
How do you harden them again?

Yes exactly. In the end everyone has their own opinion. This is mine 😋
Excellent!
Thank you!! 🤗
Excellent video. I would be interested in the kit
Good to know. I'll be giving the kit some thought.
Thanks for the videos. Do you have a video on the making the post? Now sure what gauge to use.
